No, 30 is pretty much spot on for that area. I am not sure how many people that would still need help are playing through though
Early game you're pretty much only going to be using it for healing.
Mid game you'll have some offensive shit, but it'll do no damage. Default lightning spear is abysmal.
Late game faith is fun as fuck and totally worth slogging through though.
Dragonslayer swordspear makes my willy rigid.
Is Raw ASS a meme weapon or is it actually good?
It was the worst in DeS. I got a mage to 50/50 int/fai and my ToB demolished everything through NG++. Even aside from the magic missiles crushing everything in your path, the buffs and utility spells you get trivialize a lot of other things too; no need to ever fear the squidheads when you can silence them.

Good early game crutch for breezing through but falls short later on.
Well, it's kinda fun to use in FFAs. But beyond that, eh. They did try to make it a faster thing with the Farron sorceries, but they're so fucking weak even with 60 INT and all damage boosting items that it's not worth it.

The spear user never really bothered me unless I got careless and let him dash attack into me for most of my health.
The sword guy can go die on a dick, though. That 3-swing, lightning-infused, downward chop flurry has some really aggressive tracking. He's also much more in your face than the spear user.
