How can I create a world for adventurer mode where there'll be a lot of things to kill and explore? My main problem always seems finding hostile stuff that can be a challenge to me, maybe I'm just bad at exploring. Also, can I equip my companions somehow?

Two of my recent migrants just got into a fight with each other, so it looks like I'm going to need a sheriff. What makes a dwarf a good candidate for sheriff? Also, that spinner is going to be perpetual trouble, isn't she?

You can give stuff to your companions using the trade dialog, but getting them to actually use it can be tricky sometimes. As for generating a world with things to kill, you can adjust the number of beasts in simple world gen and the number of types of nightcreatures in advanced world gen. I once tried out a world with an absurd number of nightcreatures and had no difficulty at all in finding them, though it caused some interesting lag on the calendar view.

EVERYONE POST YOUR CURRENT FORTRESS
Dylan Rodriguez
Is this close enough? I'm not done training yet I'm planning on holding out on fort mode until the rapist is updated
Dylan Smith
I'm posting bote until we get botes and fishing in DF
Jordan Lee
You double digger. At least post different pictures
Aiden Adams
Must I assume you deleted it before because you realized fishing is already in game? Oh, no, you must be retarded then
Bentley Green
He probably means adventure mode fishing
Jackson Wilson
I MEAN BOTES AND FISHING CREATURE FISH NOT DISGUSTING CRITTER FISH
Jeremiah Barnes
ahhhhhh, got you then senpai, no need to get all fussy Well yeah, that would be quite interesting to play, along with fish traps and webs for fishing
Christian Edwards
Apparently getting caught in "a blast of forgotten beast boiling extract" does absolutely nothing That's good to know

not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing place...

is there any way to clean up a wound after being treated and patched up? One of my soldiers got his arm mangled up in training, and although he can pick up his spear again, i didnt have my soap industry running at the time. now he has infections up to his shoulders, but the motherfucker still trains and drills like nothing.
Camden Collins
Huh, I thought there's nothing you can do about infections and you just drop dead after it gets into your brain or heart?

Let me guess... you think its ok to live like an elf just because the trees were cut down first?

Semi-newb from yesterday that wanted to be a war-monger. I fucked up my embark size because I forgot that was a thing. Now my only source of water is a single murky pool while the nearby river is just out of reach. Also holy fuck the sand, it took a dozen z-levels to find actual hard rock, and now after royally beefing my attempt to turn my murky pool into an underground reservoir I'm seriously considering restarting to a more 'savage', larger area, and not wussing out on aquifers
Would probably have a better time if I could stop fucking up farming too, any recommended embark sizes that are a good balance between "Having enough room to work in" and not "Nightmarish resource-wise"?
Also, text contrast is real fuckey, namely any selection menu where the text is white I can't see what the active selection actually is without ramping up the contrast on my monitor just to get whatever selected. Can I tweak with options in the lazy newb pack to un-fuck that easily?
Isaiah Sullivan
you can still get a water source in the caverns
James Howard
Make a girl character in a steppe area and retire them. Become the waifu.
Camden Campbell
I assume they're infinite, or substantial enough to supply a fort off of?
Elijah Mitchell
>in order to get a gf, you must first emasculate yourself really maeks u think huh
Colton Gray
There's probably at least one lake that borders the map so yes.
Kevin Foster
not infinite, but they can be pretty big with three cavern layers there is a good chance that one of them will have a suitable pond
Cameron Thomas

Aight, we strike after work Let's see how the horrors of the caverns fare against my mighty army of pillarmen. I mean unarmored wrestledwarves I mean pillarmen
Blake Kelly
how does that emasculate you?
Ryder Foster
pillar men when?
Lucas Ward
>migrant wave >there's a miner who is also a great poet and novice wordsmith >recites poetry in the inn regularly >dwarves who listen to the poetry get good thoughts
Neat.

is there a where shopkeeper or who owner command in adventure mode
i'm getting kinda sick of "you should try a shopkeeper" and "I don't work here"

I have yet to see any consequences for stealing.
If you don't wanna steal at all, simply take items from the stockpile you found it in, drop it on the floor, and hit Z to wait for 1 hour

On an unrelated note: What are some of the most fitting/best random names you got for your group/fort/symbol so far?
Just recently I was setting up and embark and my proud dwarves gathered under the symbol of "The Fortification of Anusses". No, I'm not making this up.

Whenever I generate a smaller or pocket region with 1000 years of history I get this error in legends viewer help me please

That's what you get for using Mastershit

That's just a quirk with how DF describes some (mostly proc-genned) materials. If its boiling point is lower than normal ambient temperature, or lower than the temperature of material that it comes into contact with, then it will be described as boiling. You see the opposite a lot with deadly spittle being described as "frozen forgotten beast extract". Of course if you encounter a dragon or a firebreathing FB or something like that and find yourself getting caught in bursts of boiling granite then you should run for the nearest murky pool, because your beard is probably on fire.
Landon Rogers
Hmm when I use specify image in engraving and select historical figure who is charcter I suspect as vampire it will confirm if it is vampire and show real name of character. Neat.
Brody Nelson
turns out it actually does have an effect since seven of my dwarves are now dead and their blood is all over the floor I wonder why this didn't show on the wounds screen for each dwarf? Shouldn't they notice heavy bleeding from every orifice?
Jason Scott
Syndromes have to be diagnosed in the hospital before they show up in their health screen.
Joseph Watson
I assume there is no direct treatment possible yet in DF for syndromes, right? Like you can treat rotted flesh (presumably by cutting it off) etc., but there's no way to neutralize poison via treatment, right?
