Why does it seem that every single car maker sets their turn signal speed to a different frequency? Come the fuck on, if I'm in a line of cars at a light I'd appreciate a little continuity here. What triggers your autism Veeky Forums? Let it out.

Yeah I agree. It does look nice on some cars when there's no yellow part of the light, but at least make it a separate part.

It kind of does a better job than a amber or red indicator beside the brake lights. It's easier to distinguish between stop and turn.

Lots of modern cars cut the DRL's on one side so the front turn indicator can be seen better.

I hate it when manufacturers use red instead of amber for their turn signals.

It looks weird when they brake and the blinker is going at the same time, so it looks like the lights just alternated at one dissappeared and one appears.

It's not that, one will blink faster than the other, so at one point they'll alternate perfectly, then go out of sync, then blink in unison, then go out of sync again. Maddening.

Need to build a flasher module with an irregular interval. Drive everyone else nuts.

Get 3 or 4 flasher relays, wire them together with different intervals set on the dials. Trigger everyone.

You sure it's not just some cars with a fuse problem, causing their blinkers to blink too fast? Most cars I see blink at the same speed.
Interestingly, if you and another car have the same blinker frequency, and you look so the other cars blinker is in the corner of your eye, it syncs to the sound of your blinker.

Every car has a slightly different blinker speed, even the same model, since they often use a physical relay that doesn't keep "perfect time."

what really needs to happen is having the blinker sync up with the beat of the music you have playing

No it's not that. That also kills me on the outside a little, but some are just a hair slower or faster than the car in front of them. It's like the engineers from one company said "let's make it blink once every .75 seconds" and another company's engineers said "let's make ours blink once every second".

Everytime I see a 991 with the optional silver taillights I have to cringe so hard. Yes I know that tastes are different, but to me they look like cheap aftermarket taillights

Its a blinker relay.
It works by resistance.
Set amount of resistance x time=heat threshold=reset, then blink again.
So x amount of wire + bulb filament is different than the other cars wiring + filament.

It fuckin confuses and angers me when cars have their blinkers on the opposite side of the headlight than the one they're supposed to be indicating, for example when the blinker on the right headlight is placed on the left side of it, near the center of the hood, rather than just on the right edge of the car.

Why does this exist

Because legally you still only need one reverse light and one rear fog light in Europe, and manufacturers are known to save money wherever they can.

This is my girl, Maureen. Her vacuum system's acting up again but at least she's sort of kind of comfortable, but not as comfortable as a Jag or Bentley or anything. Still, the QUALITY of this automobile. The GERMAN ENGINEERING is OFF the CHARTS.

My girl at the shop. They're a Merc specialist, thank God because my old girl needs special attention. Why? Because... she can do things that other cars of the era can't, like put the driver to sleep, and rust in warm climates. The best or nothing.

They're not what they used to be. Pre 90's Mercedes deserved the reputation they got, and you often got more than you expected. But they've gone to shit since then.

I've driven a MY13 c250 with 300bhp and it was fucking boring. Didn't feel much faster than an ancient commodore, was boring inside and made either no sound, or a terrible modern economy/diesel engine sound, and the handling was pretty ordinary. My shitbox e36 compact BMW with overworn suspension bushes that has been abused for 20 years (by previous owners) handles better than a new mercedes.

Red rear turn signals are OK if you are trying to maintain a classic car design. Like Mustang with the three sequential lights on either side.

But please, if you have a car like a new Ferrari or Maserati which came from Europe with amber turn signals (because that's the law), don't go switching the US model to red signals.

Other than modern interpretations of classic designs, combining lamp functions and using single color lenses is a sign of a really cheap car.

On newer cars when the middle brake light blinks 5 or 6 times everytime the person steps on the brake pedal. SO fucking irritating.

Ford is the worst. Whatever rate their signals flash at, it's slower than almost any other car manufacturer, and it's annoying to listen to.

It should be tick tock tick tock (turning back on as soon as it turns off).
