Well there are other shit fighters, non-fighters, and mostly background characters that got Support just because. Like Gordon, Minfilia, and Larsa just as a couple examples.
A lot of Supports in RK don't really make a lot of sense, and one of the main characters that fit the skillset (Auron) doesn't even get Support 5 even though both of the 5* Support skills are literally his.

Larsa makes sense as support because it's a meme in Japan he chucks potions at you all day.
They even turned him into a literal potion seller in Revenant Wings because of it.
In IZJS, he replaces the infinite potions with Bubble: the best support move in the game. I wouldn't know what other category to put him under besides support.

The Auron thing is bullshit though because he's literally Breaks: the Character in X.

Larsa fits Support when it comes to the word itself, but he doesn't really fit what the skillset actually is which is almost entirely based around debuffs.
It isn't really the same as his potion spamming (which is represented quite humorously in his SSB), or his Bubble casting, or another thing in IZJS that I remember which is his early Shades of Black.

I use Vanille because I'm too lazy to hone anything 5* past r2. Even then, I can't remember the last time I brought something other than Curaja/Shellga to a fight.

Sometimes you don't want pro/shell, sometimes you don't have space for it due to conditions, sometimes you RW them, sometimes you're doing a speedrun and curaja is literally dead weight.

Personally I think there's too many fucking SBs throwing any combinations of Protect, Shell, Regen, Haste in all sorts that too often you do free that slot.

If nothing in RK is a challenge, maybe you've whaled too hard.
Either that or you've been playing way too hard and fried your brain if you think speedrunning is actual depth and/or challenge.
But you're probably going to pop back with the whole "If speedrunning isn't hard, why don't you have a WR in something" bit anyways, so why do I even bother?

Sometimes putting Breakdowns on a goddess like Y'shtola will free your "support" some space for either even more breakdowns or simply actual damage on a slot.

Speedrunning games is entertaining though. I've learned a lot of cool tips, tricks, glitches in the FF series from watching runs. And I usually only watch an hour or so - who knows how much knowledge I skipped!

I just don't see the appeal in an 8 hour "speedrun". Sure, there are a few interesting glitches and stuff even in FF, but christ that's a long time to run something.

Her SB, SSB, and BSB are fantastic, right? She's really grown on me since I got Thyrus a while back. Don't give a damn what she's like in XIV because she's the perfect WM for me in RK.

If you mean the Kingsglaive themselves, their swords are literally magic and let them teleport among other things. Lucis itself is also really big on WE WUZ KINGS, so by keeping it old-school they like to pretend how much better they are compared to the upstarts like Niflheim.

It's kinda weird because I think Mobius and Exvius must at some point, because there's an actual story and you can only keep that shit going for so long, but Record Keeper's a weird one. It LACKS a story (there's more of a shitty reason than an actual, progressing story) so you'd assume it can keep going forever, but the fucking stages are the stories from old FFs so at some point it should run out of stages to leech from...

Only have a heal SB from Ramza. Zidane had Shift Break, Refia has her SSB, Y'sholta has wall, Tyro has his burst. So 2 attackers using damaging SBs, 2 support/attackers, and one healer with holy and wall.

No need for wall until the damaging type Biola comes out roughly halfway into his HP.

The BE devs confirmed in an interview that they do not and will not have an end for the story. There's no satisfying conclusion to be had, and they always have donuts to make.

I guess they think It's sort of like those soap operas that go on for decades.

In reality it'll be more like those shows that get cancelled midway through season 4 without ever ending.

So how good is Drain Strike in RK? I've been keeping it on Squall and he's gotten good use out of it, but is it worth keeping around?

BE is super slow. The game's been out for a year and we've only seen 3 of the Sworn Six

RK has a background story and OCs, but yet to start the actual plot.

And we're a long way from completing FF stages. Still numerous long final dungeons, Tactics, 2 MMOs, and possible other games like sequels and spin-offs.

Used it for the Ultimates and Nightmares, it's still great.

The thing that passes for a story in RK is some "mysterious darkness" trying to cover up all the paintings that depict the stories of the various FF games. When they introduced the Nightmare Dungeons Prof. Mog said something about a clue to the source of the darkness being at the bottom of the Dungeons.

So maybe when the Nightmare Dungeon is completed we'll get some sort of resolution. That's 7 months away in global, not sure how close it is in Japan. I think it depends on if SE thinks they can still squeeze money of the game or not, the game definitely has a "we're making it up as we go along" vibe. And completion of the Nightmare Dungeon will also mark 2 years since the game launched.

Ah ok. I'd be more interested in these if they had an end point, and then after that was collecting each game's whatevers and doing side stuff like events.

I gotta say my one only gripe is how when they DO take these games off, they don't even bother to just give a good conclusion. Like when Chain Chronicles was shut down in Global. Just out of nowhere, boom, fuck you people, we're closing in a month. What story? No fuck that, get out. Feels like they should have an ending in their pocket ready to deploy whenever the service ends.
