Why does Veeky Forums and other people who like vehicles not seem to like Tesla? I don't see the problem. Is it "theys gon take our ICE away!!" like some gun owner-tier shit?

Normies love Tesla. And you hit the part about Veeky Forums on the head.

It's a fucking gimic you soft cocks.

yeah, mostly cringe-tier edgelords, see this cuck I cant wait for the future where I'll be towing my ICE cars to the weekly track day while can freely jack off to anime on my way there because of that comfy autopilot

It's popular among non-car people so Veeky Forums doesn't like it

>muh 0 to 60

Go away, Elon. It's an A to B commuter in every regard.

This kid has a fit bit and a blue ray player.
Gimics never fail at sucking cash out of the retards.

>this poorfag can't even afford an old PS3 for those blue ray + vydia combo

top kek this guy

>Console gaming
>In 2016
You keep just proving that you're getting tricked into buying gimics.
Go buy some as seen on TV miracle pan or something before you get back to playing Forza with your College frat bros.

>he can't afford both consoles and a pc

Your little image macros don't hurt my feelings fag.
I've got more in car parts to my right than you have in cars.
Anyone that's ever been a PC gamer would know there is no reason to go to a modern day console.
Keep on weebing friend.

you don't have a car ethan, have you even finished paying the fine for raping that girl?

>Anyone that's ever been a PC gamer would know there is no reason to go to a modern day console.
>friendless loser with no friends that go to their house to have fun

yeah no

>HAS LITERAL LAN PARTIES
Holy shit are you 12?
Games shouldn't be your focus, they should be a time killer at night.

>not seem to like Tesla?
It takes the car out of the car while the company responsible adopted the despised DRM for software of "rented but not owned".

>friendless rapist LITERALLY has never ever had friends come over to his house, playing vydia, eating junkfood and doing drugs

Yes, I'm not in school anymore.
Good observation.
What next?

This. If you never had Smash bros parties and Goldeneye parties i feel bad for your childhood

>secretly choose slappers only
>rekt everyone.

That's not a modern console.
Keep up junior.
Also see

What the fuck is this?

>That's not a modern console.
Yeah so?
Modern consoles are decent.
Ps4 looks like the cheapest way to do VR.
>mustard race
Who cares if you're a normie.
Playing COD with friends isn't about COD it's about friends. Something you seem to lack knowledge of tho.

>he bought an xbox

>friendless loser did not keep in touch with his highschool friends

of course not, you didn't have any friends, rapist

maybe thats why you trip on an anonymous anime imageboard

>What the fuck is this?
>he never played slappers only no Oddjob
Holy shit did you fags even exist before you turned 18?

You're missing the point that no one does that after school.
And VR is a fucking gimic.

Because evey fucking hippy mouthbreather SUDDENLY becomes an expert in the auto industry, car design and performance the second Tesla is mentioned.

>You're missing the point that no one does that after school.
Nigga you need to actually get out in the world.
My work friends regularly play Call Of Duty. I might start playing with them soon.

>And VR is a fucking gimic.
I'd agree with you but at this point, with all the R&D money spent, it's a freight train.

Stop being a fag and get friends dude seriously.

It's fine and all if you have different hobbies but videogames are now so mainstream even Stacies play them.

VR is the way of the future. If you don't see it you're blind.

kek i see what you did there.

>mouthbreather SUDDENLY becomes an expert in the auto industry, car design and performance
sounds like Veeky Forums desu

GoldenEye was the tits

When my bicycle riding, carbon neutral aunt starts talking about 1/4 times and electrical superiority, it's gone to far tho

lets get real, most "car guys" don't know shit about cars and any mechanical engineer would laugh at them.

>the cunt who always grabbed the disintegrating rifle

Get a real job.

VR is getting money put into it because it's a gimic and gimics make money.

Yeah totally, just like 3D printing.
In 2 short years we'll all wake up to our 2d waifu in VR while 3d printing dragon dildo to shove up our asses on our auto-pioloted tesla ride to pick up your neet bucks check.
The future is here.

>aunt gets interested in 1/4 times

i dont see whats wrong with that

fuck yeah yo, i still have it and a 64 but only one controller 2bh

>Get a real job.
I have one you absolute nigger.
Stop bitching and raping people and follow your own advice and make some friends while you're at it.

>any mechanical engineer would laugh at them.
I know more mechanical engineers than you do.

If they aren't interested in cars, they really don't know much besides the theory behind simple concepts.

They can explain torque, but they don't understand understeer.

>I have one you absolute nigger.
>My work friends regularly play Call Of Duty
lol yeah nahh.

mechanical engineers are all faggots

>this entire thread

you know, when i can change out motors and batteries, ecus, etc for aftermarket ones, to make it what i want. then i'll start liking electric cars.

For now, its just an iphone on 4 wheels.

>fuck yeah yo, i still have it and a 64 but only one controller 2bh

Do you ever play it? All the second hand controllers you could find will all be flogged to death from Mario party mini games. Dunno what happened to my 64 actually

lol yeah yeah
Call me when you stop working at Mcdonalds.

>Do you ever play it?
Nah not anymore.
I don't have:
A:time
B: a TV to display it
C: the skills to beat it anymore.

shame the remake was just Call of Duty.

i was all for buying a model 3 but honestly the styling just didn't work for me out of the box so i didnt put down a reservation

and now the wait list is like 400k long and nobody not on the list isn't getting one until 2019 or whatever

i'm hoping chevy makes a little muscle coupe version of the Bolt with more torque and throttle response but a bit less range to compensate

because of fucking this

They seem like great cars but for me a bit bland
I don't like the idea of not being able to swap the motor or work on it
I don't like tech in card in general
I like simple

I really like electric vehicles but tesla a shit

as a privacy activist teslas infotainment system is as botnet as it gets and you have to pay for it

First your phone tracks you

Then your car tracks you

Then your house

Fuck all that and fuck all you

Has shit tier reliability, once warranty runs out you're fucked m8

youtube.com/watch?v=Y94sVKZ-mrY

youtube.com/watch?v=anlYz3Mwamc

you say no oddjob, but the way I know you're truly a dumb nigger is no civilian #4. granny was a mean bitch, and short enough to rape

underrated post

In canada for the price of the P70 I can get a cts-v. Of course its going to eat fuel and be unreliable but at that price a car can not just be a commuter.
If I wanted a nice commuter I would buy an avalon.

electric motor are simple in every way compared to a ICE

Because they don't market themselves right. They should market themselves as a more MERRICUH company, and more about performance beyond a straight line. Teslas are basically being shown as boring commuter cars that can do the drag strip occasionally.

>Is it "theys gon take our ICE away!!" like some gun owner-tier shit?
Yes. Veeky Forums has a lot of overlap with /k/ and /pol/, with the twitchy-fuck kneejerk reactionism to anything that helps other people's safety. Especially other people's safety from them.

But the electronics governing them are not so simple. And you also can't really work on them yourself anyway.

I think Tesla represents a possible future problem for ICE, but not in a knee-jerk way.
Tesla was boosted early on by US environmental business incentives, rather than their own merit. I think tesla could have done well either way, but it shows how the government is meddling when market transitions should be natural.
In the next few years, they will restrain ICE engines with mileage requirements, while allowing electric cars to eat and waste as much power as they want (no matter the power souce)

ICE is going to die naturally, but the US government is buying votes with environmentalism bills that don't fix core issues, only look good from the surface.

I want Tesla to succeed, but it's bittersweet knowing it's a tool in a larger political scheme.

well you don't work on your ECU when it's broken you change it
you don't work on electronics in your car anyway
you can't work on the motor itself neither the trans because it has almost nothing that could fail
but you can still work on any other part that isn't the engine and the transmission

But that's pretty much the point, though. I don't really work on / upgrade anything else in a car besides the engine and transmission.

I think we need to go back to steam.

kek
well you can't upgrade what is perfect
but engine and trans are what break in a cars also
that won't be a problem anymore

Electric cars can still use transmissions, they just would be for racing/ towing applications. You'd only need a 2 speed for racing, though.

They aren't very good, they have one trick and that's acceleration. Only Niggers like that over actual fun driving. If they could solve the battery problem (poor energy density, over heating when charged or discharged hard, short useful life...) and the power generation issue (you release more CO2 equivalent gasses per mile when you include the efficiency chain than with an equivalent petrol car) then we would be jumping at them.

well see you could swap the trans for a better one
electric cars are goat

that problem would be resolved if we would produce clean energy so it move the problem where it needs to be

Probably because they're below average cars, and their designs are between butt ugly and uninspired depending on where you're looking.

I'm pretty sure most people who now drive a new Mercedes or BMW would gladly drive an electric version with good range. It's not the EV part that people dislike so much, it's the fact that Tesla can't design or build cars for shit.

Fuck off numale cuck

>blue ray
>Watching movies is a gimmick
>driving a car that you don't have to pay for gas in is a gimmick

Aren't you that retard who thought BMW was more reliable than Lexus?

>this company is perfect and you are not

kill yourself

Veeky Forums doesn't like them because

a) Normiefags worship Tesla like Apple or Beats by Dre. Their stock is massively overvalued because of it, and if you did research on it you'd learn that Musk is nothing more than an autistic investor and not Tony Stark, and that Tesla's cars are sub-par quality wise and supported significantly by government subsidies.

b) Musk has already begun advertising his auto-pilot "self-driving" feature by dear mongering against 'manual' driving cars, and shit like that actually does pose a threat because of government regulation, but mainly because of rising insurance rates.

But we don't produce clean energy, the percentage of US electricity generated by coal and gas has actually increased over the last 3 years as the increase in clean energy hasn't kept pace with the increasing demand for electricity. Right now BEVs are more of a problem than a solution. You can't live in a fantasy world and say in this fallacy they work, that isn't reality.

...

now post something other than drag times or the motortrend figure 8

>he doesn't know the world bank is pushing for universal disarmament of all civilians in its member countries

life is tough as a brain dead mindslave I'd imagine.

acceleration is the only relevant metric in a daily driver.

104 seconds slower around the Ring than a GT86, nice work Tesla.

something feels wrong about it to me. I'm sure the automagics are all for it, but the day that my car shifts itself is the day I've lost interest in driving.

Not being able to feel you car shift, not being able to hear the roar of the engine, feel the road, and most of all not falling asleep at the wheel.

Don't get me wrong, a tesla can rape my shitbox in probably every way, but at the end of the day, I don't give two fucks. I'm gonna drive pre 2010 stick shift cars probably forever. To me there is no other way

...

the R35 is not a DD, compare the Tesla Model S to a Base 5 series. now compare the interiors and ride quality. that's what matters in a DD.

What's different about post 2010 stick shift cars?

>gun owner-tier shit?
Hey, we always have to be on the defensive. We have very good reason to be

>market transitions should be natural.

But you'd never change if they didn't get the infrastructure in, and they can't do that without a market. Catch 22, so they need to get government help to get started on it before GM kills them with lawsuits and propaganda.
IC is going to die when the oil runs out, and it's going to die HARD.

go get raped in jail

JIDF a little late and a little sloppy.

What shit roads do you drive on, acceleration only matters to niggers.

I despise paywalls.
Paywalling a physical object that you have a title to is beyond ridiculous, but that's what Tesla does. Pay $9000 to unlock features already on your car.

>IC is going to die when the oil runs out, and it's going to die HARD.
not really. we'll just invest in synthetic oil.

Americans particularly, will never catch on to electric cars because we have a love affair with the idea of a gas engine brought about by the romanticism of automobiles in the 50s and 60's. with big engines and big cars, with long stretches of desert road to let loose on. that sort of Route 66 fantasy. and that will never totally go away. I mean look at how as soon as gas prices went down, Americans went back to bigger less efficient cars. with V8's specifically. Hummers and panthers are everywhere again.

when gas actually starts running low, we'll just make a synthetic replacement.

Performance that doesn't fucking matter (who really stops a drag race at 60mph?) in exchange for the range that would actually make it useful.

That's why.

Also, remote control is not a feature I want on anything that could kill me or someone else. Imagine a gun that could be fired or locked to safety by a remote third party. There is no such thing as a secure software system.

>america
Acceleration is necessary for proper zipper merging
Merging/passing lanes are always too short
You have to get past that SUV before they cause a traffic jam by passing up every gap that's shorter than a quarter mile

The only way to compensate for slowly accelerating cars is to slow all of traffic

Top speed doesn't matter, you'll never legally go fater than 85 and you'll never get away with more than 90

>Merging/passing lanes are always too short
>not running the last 2 apexes perfectly to merge like a champ in your 1.6l econoturd
maybe I just live too close to racetracks

at 6'3" with a decent amount of muscle its more likely I'd be doing the raping than being raped.

go jack off to your animu pillow in your mom's basement shut in.

> 6'3" with a decent amount of muscle

kek, this is what cringelords neckbeards actually belive

also

>anyone who isn't a low life drug dealer is a neet

top kek!!

I'll get to those after I've run out of cars on my list

>you don't have to pay for gas

you still have to pay for electricity you moron

>all this shitposting
>this one super anally devastated tripfag

stay classy, Veeky Forums

op you should seriously just delete this thread

Not him but its much cheaper

How much driving do you have to do before you actually get a return on that investment, given the sky high price of the car, and does the battery degrade or outright die before you reach that point?

I got 40mpg in my toyota coorolla last week (literally 50/50 city highway, 5 miles of each every trip)

The battery lasts about 10 years and within that time, you save about 10,000 dollars on gas which is around what it costs to replace the battery.

Also if you're getting your energy from a gas power plant, you're about twice as efficient as an ICE and if you're getting it straight from a coal power plant, its about the equivalent to 30mpg in carbon pollution. Im very very far from being an environmentalist but over all, they are not worse for the environment.

SAVE THE WHALES

For their current "luxury" cars? (I know they're subpar interior quality wise but you get it) it would take a very long time and wouldn't be worth it if youre only goal was to save money. Their current cars are just to sell to a niche market for more money for their real goal. Their upcoming model 3 is going to be 35,000$ in which if you drive it for 10 years, youll save ~10,000 dollars so then compare and see if you would personally think it would be worth it if you wanted a '25,000' $ car that is a subpar interior wise 35,000 car. If you think it still looks like garbage and isnt worth it because you think its the equivalent of a 5,000$ used car you could fund with 3 decades of fuel and mationance then we just have to agree to disagree. And about the battery, it doesnt just break, it slowly loses range until you need to upgrade like 8-12 years later.
