So I'm talking to Protodude about Mini Mega and apparently the character is in fact trademarked even though he wasn't in the production notes or mentioned in that recent interview.

Pokemon Delta Emerald was trademarked but never happened, but we have official art of him so it's obvious they thought about it for a while.

Many elements in a show's pilot *can* be dropped before broadcast. Ideally it'd be great if he's been cast aside... but like I said on Twitter, there was one reference to him where his name was trademarked. He's pretty much here to stay at this point.

me biggest gripe with Mega Mini... why the hell is he EMERGING from Aki's helmet? Like, this is so far removed from anything. If he's a support character like Rush, okay; but is he actually part of Aki? A Soundwave/cassette relationship? Jesus I really want to know more

Little do we know, Mega Mini is actually a remote-controlled robot that this universe's Dr. Light controls.
During times when Aki is unwilling to follow Dr. Light's orders, Mega Mini forcefully merges with Aki through Aki's helmet and overrides the robot boy's AI.
