Hey Veeky Forums lurker here

Hey Veeky Forums lurker here,
I have a crack in strut tower of my fr-s. It's 2015 and bought it new, it is lowered on coils (not stanced). Is this a warranty issue or am I fucked?

Where is the crack. Can't see shit.

>E36 all over again

HOLY FUCKING SHIT MY SIDES

Put the stock shocks back in then take it back to the dealer, or alternatively, install sick ass weld in camber plates and have them weld the crack up.

They'd be able to tell he changed it by the wear marks on the nuts etc.

You destroyed the car, since that area of the tub is heat treated it can't be repaired, and obviously they aren't going to replace the entire tub of the car. Warranty is void since the car is lowered, and there is no way to revert it back to stock as they will see the rotation marks are off on the suspension. Quite an expensive mistake OP.

bottom of the picture, it's off the assembly and starting up the side. here's a picture of the good side.
it's on tein street flex's probably about 1/2 and inch drop, would they really bitch about that for the warranty? is welding this even a good idea?

>dumbest post in this thread
Figures from a namefag

I thought these cars were factory designed for mods and completely overbuilt thus justifying their lower performance to dollar ratio.

Stiffer springs and shocks probably caused this, 2bh it shouldn't happen even with stiff as fuck springs, it's obviously a defect.
Put the stock shit back in and take it back, should only take you a few hours.
Don't take it back with aftermarket suspension, they will say it caused it.

should I go to my regular shitty dealer or try a better reviewed one?

Dunno but if they give you shit and won't do it try another one.
Don't say a god damn thing about the shocks and play dumb.

Why the fuck would you mod a brand new car that has warranty you dumb ass dumb fucking fuck shit eating sperglord?
Your modded no warranty car is literally half worth now.

To the problem thoug, warranty is void and you have to pay.

Couldn't be further from the truth

I'd personally take it straight to the scrapyard to save the gas money, but there is one person on Veeky Forums that might be able to repair it, he's a master fabricator that has dealt with structural HSS repairs on unibody cars, goes by Catstang, maybe ask him if you can ship your car out to him for the repair.

>play dumb
Make lots of hurr and durr noises. Shrug A LOT.

Because OP wanted to mod a new car that some other ricer hadn't already molested

Because OP isn't a poor cuck

Because OP is perfect in every way and there is no way he would fuck up his car like those other philistines.

wut

clever troll is clever

its just the paint

It feels rough.

Who wants more pics of fuck up?

eaa.org/en/eaa/aviation-communities-and-interests/homebuilt-aircraft-and-homebuilt-aircraft-kits/resources-for-while-youre-building/building-articles/metal/repairing-sheet-metal

More pics
I think the shock towers are cracked on my festiva too, I don't really care tho since it's a 90s car and I own a welder.
Just gives me more motivation to weld in some sikk camber plates.

>rub jb weld into it
>nuffin happened
>carry on

it's about a finger nail wide and only pulls up where the dot is in the metal.

hard to see in this pic but it's very small atm.

It's only going to grow OP

>Shits all over his car
>Can't stand the smell
>Wants someone else to clean it up
>Has a SHEMALE PORN ADDICTION

FRONT TOWERS?
TUBE THE FRONT END!!!!!

Currently leaning towards having it welded and not mentioning it to a dealer to protect the warranty down the line?

THIS IS FATE

lol, what do you think happens when they weld it?

The weld is gonna be obvious as fuck, weld it and your warranty is gone fur sure.

Just put it back to stock, schedule and appointment and say you hit a pothole hard

Replace with stock. Go to dealer. If they deny, keep fighting it. They're going to spend a lot of time proving something was done to it.

Don't mod your car. You aren't 16, are you? Shouldn't be posting otherwise.

>Don't mod your car.
Then what is the point of owning a BRZ? They are slow garbage stock.

>it is lowered on coils (not stanced)
Could you post picture of full car so I don't think you're a liar?

>Then what is the point of owning a BRZ?
Exactly
There is none besides looks

You do it after the warranty is over.

>Warranty is void since the car is lowered

Learn to Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (unless you are a non-burgerfat, in which case the Freedoms don't apply to you.)

np senpai

>They're going to spend a lot of time proving something was done to it.
Any tech can instantly tell if a suspension nut or bolt has been turned after it came out of the factory. Best bet would be to take it in right after 4th of July and hope for a tech with an extreme hangover

leaf here, we're all cucked so I don't think I'd have something like this for protection

ugh, that fitment is gross. Could afford the bodykit but not fucking spacers or negative offseted wheels

turning bolts voids warranty?

>looks
>implying
I can't imagine what it is like to be this cucked

please be joking

Where does it say you can't adjust or replace a part? Say it was loose, would fit the whole it's cracking scheme

Let's pretend I'm the tech and this ricer POS rolls into my rack. I instantly noticed that the suspension had been taken apart and put back together. I note this and it goes back to the service writer and warranty clerk. They know the work to the suspension was not done at a dealership under warranty or they would have records of it. They ask OP what was done, who did it, and why. What does he say, "oh I just took it apart and put it back together in the stock config for fun"?

No, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act forbids companies from denying warranty claims because you opened it, worked on it, used shit parts, are a squid and a stancefag, etc.

(Offer only good in the USA)

don't worry i was, it's blue and i'm actually more autistic

Yeah, you'd know that if you could afford anything other than $1000 shitboxes

forgot pic
/osg/ here
how is it a POS? i've also had the suspension inspected under warranty for noise originally (has been removed).

are you this guy ?

In a Consumer Alert issued by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the agency confirmed that “The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket part.” The alert outlines key provisions in the law that provides protections to car owners. As defined by the FTC, an “aftermarket' part is a part made by a company other than the vehicle manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer.”

“The FTC’s reference to aftermarket parts is equally applicable to specialty parts,” said Russ Deane, SEMA’s General Counsel. “Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the warranty cannot be conditioned to a specific brand of parts, services or vehicle modifications.”

sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts

Sure if they have records of other people reporting the same problem. I also think you are misinformed on that warranty act.

>2015 fr-s
>$1000

>gets widebody kit
>stock fitment

no am OP will trip for the rest of the thread.
bit of an older pic but you guys should get an idea of how it sits. car is (almost) stock.

why do faggots run coilovers and overly stiff suspention on the street?

OP is a monumental dullard.

Weld that shit

the spring rate is the same as stock, even have the alignment set to stock, only difference is smaller coil perches and about a half an inch drop in height. dampening is on 3 clicks out've 16 so pretty soft.

You put coils and didn't seam weld or re-enforce the strut tower lmao

ricers everyone.

jesus christ that looks aweful why the fuck did u get that bodykit with narrow ass wheels?thats weird it shouldnt have cracked like that.

must have hit something big then or toyota metal is still shit quality.

I honestly think that is a defect, there are thousands of FRS/BRZs out there that have lowered suspension, or similar mods, and none of them say "You gotta strengthen the towers first" You'd probably be better off asking somewhere that isn't Veeky Forums, no one here knows jack shit about cars and just shit posts all day.

idk it's some retard I found on instagram.
pic is car

i am right now and this seems to be the answer i'm getting from the brz/fr-s community. i know there are some legitimate service mechanics on here though and not everyone is a neetcuck.

>re-enforce

Someone forgot the word for strut-bar also seam welding is for a legit track car, no one wants to bother stripping their bay and repainting it in their "streetcar". Even if you try to do it quick it would end up as a hack job.

thats urs?

Cute

As i said its easier to just get a small weld done and you might as well get the rest of it checked out.

Hell if its under warranty take it back

the fr-s and brz actually come stock with a strut brace aswell.

>REAL FART!

My Accord came with a strut-bar from factory, why doesn't the FR-S have one?

see

it's actually pretty far off from where the strut is.

fucked

you swapped out a factory part

No car is designed from the factory for aftermarket mods. Manufacturers pay lots of engineers lots of money to optimize every component with cost first and foremost in mind.

As others have said, put the stock parts back in and play stupid at the stealership. You might get lucky, but honestly as soon as they see the bodykit and big ass wing, they'll have you pegged as a ricer and will be looking for evidence of tampering with the suspension. Soon as they find it, they'll deny your warranty and Magnusson Moss rant all you fucking want, you're screwed. Sorry user

"The dealer/vehicle manufacturer has the right to deny a warranty repair but they must demonstrate that the aftermarket part caused the problem"
The tech will find that it's been fucked with. The dealer will then ask you to provide the aftermarket part so they can inspect it. If you say no they will deny coverage.

That is just some smeared seam sealer, get a clue OP.

>ummm excuse me dealership please read this wikipedia article and link to an aftermarket part advocacy group

From the pictures, that's not a crack. If in doubt, take it to a good smash repairer and ask them, but I'd bet cash it's just seam goo.

disgusting.

hope your warranty is completely voided

sorry am newfag, could you user's explain?
kek not my car but I do know the owner

>sorry am newfag, could you user's explain?
It's not a crack. Seam sealer/goo is that flexible painted weld looking stuff. Your "crack" just looks like a bit of seam sealer.

>yfw a subaru mechanic is monitoring this thread.

>I installed aftermarket parts and-

no, you don't have a warranty anymore.

you can definitely modify it, just don't expect damage as a result of your mods to be covered by a factory warranty like some sort of retard.
hahahahahahahahahahahahah

why the fuck would it crack just from a drop? op said spring rates are similar to oem

lol'd harder than I should have

>about 1/2 and inch
1/2" or 1-1/2"?

probably still stiffer, and modern cars are all engineered to the gnat's ass to save money on steel, so any stiffer and shit breaks

Poor catstang, got all flustered and left over nothing.

>catstang
he deserves every inch of the fucking he got on the mustang deal tho

What I miss? haven't been on for awhile and never saw catstang finish that bastardized thing.

He bought a newer mustng GT wreck. The engine slid back into the firewall, and even the interior dash was slightly pushed back.
People were harassing him throughout the whole thread. Telling him over and over to just quit. Which is fine, but then people were just being cruel. Then someone said they were going to call the police on him(idr why) and he sperged out and left.

It was pretty dumb to attempt to fix that mustang yes.

>Telling him over and over to just quit.
I was in that thread and people weren't telling to quit, they were telling him not to start. He could've made his money back by parting it out and moving on.

Hitting the bump stops because the rate is the same and the travel has been reduced.

any wisdom subaru mechanic?

you replaced the suspension and the point of failur is where your replaced struts connect to the rest of the fucking car

you tell me if that voided the warrenty or not you stupidass

no, the body is by Toyota

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

was it not there before?
honestly looks like it could be seam sealer to me

>muh Rocketbunny!
