After seeing the removed intro art I thought about something.

Here's a suggestion for a mod. Is it possible to make decent intros for each race in the game? possibly for the popular custom races as well. That way, if you select skip intro mission you just get an intro scene like the original artists intended. I can help with sketching. Is there any pixel artists lurking here?

I'm ambivalent toward the devs, a little disappointed with where the game has ended up, but I can still do enough things with it that I'm enjoying myself, at least. It just kind of feels like there's holes where some interesting stuff used to be. But fuck, I already paid for the game. If I can still enjoy it, it doesn't make any sense to just stop playing it out of protest. Who the fuck's going to care?

You can't possibly ignore the conjugation. Trousers, in this sentence, could be ommited as "this style is used by Glitch nobles and..."
But if you ommit style you get something weird. "THIS trousers are used by..."
It just sounds wrong.

Yeah there's no fixing that since there's no way to snap the dialog boxes to fit into the window. Best bet is just moving the inventory box until you can see the rest of the description.

What clearly happened is that they were going to write either "This style is popular" or "these trousers are popular" and changed their mind, went back to change it, then only finished the job half-way. So you get "This style of trousers are", which you can simplify down to "This style are", which is dumb and wrong. Even if you went your way, it'd be "This trousers are" which is still dumb and wrong.

Yes. The object that is being acted on, "this style", is what the verb should be reflecting. Trousers, the indirect object, only clarify the direct object.

Though, to be fair, "of trousers" would actually be "of trouser", since style is singular and the "of trouser" would be a descriptive instead.

Do enemies have elemental weaknesses?

If not, what difference is there between fire and poison weapons other than the color of the DOT effect?

And as far as I can tell, shock/electric doesn't seem to have any secondary effect, just a different sprite.

Electricity only adds DOT on groups. It's like how static electricity works.

If we had elemental damages it would be great.
We could add plenty of cool racial perks.

All they added were some shitty quests, the gameplay, the experience hasn't changed at all.

You burn through the required quests to unlock the highest tier planets and crafting stations.

Then you stop fucking playing because there's no point doing anything else.

Building is boring.
Survival is virtually non-existent.
Exploration is irrelevant because all planets are the same just different colors.
"randomized monsters" is irrelevant because none of them are remotely memorable to begin with.

And they cut content, content which people actually like, to shoehorn their idea of a plot in.

Lore-based storytelling is good when applied correctly. It can build a world far better than straight-up exposition. It just requires a player who's willing to pay attention.

USCM may or may not exist in the lore anymore, considering that humanity got considerably revamped. There are still prisons and USCM inspect dialogue pieces, but it isn't clear what role it has in the world.

I highly doubt that when it comes to Starbound. You can poilish a turd sqeaky clean but at the end of the day it's still a turd.

Mods during the first days managed to fix a lot of issues and make the game hella more interesting.

Sadly, they're outdated and Chucklefucks kept adding more pointless stuff. and removing what could have been cool.

The most outrageous of all things is that if they didn't even try to touch their own game it would have ben an improvement.

We would have metal slug/mega man techs and bosses, genetically engineered mounts, awesome transformations and mechs.... all lost.

Now that you put it that way Starboubd maybe could have been a decent game. But I guess they had to fuck it up with that shoehorned space cadet story snd retarded as fuck final boss. What the fuck even is the final boss? At least try to make it resemble something like Terraria instead of a lazy mesh of tentacles. I guess fun and good idea's isn't Chucklefucks strong suit.

The only real question now is if Starbound will actually be patched into something decent. Or will it decent into a lazy game.

Essentially nobody, including the creator, thought that Terraria was going to get patches after 1.1

It turned out that the game's best years were yet to come, and that it'd receive mountains of quality content and QoL changes.

On the other hand, many triple A games stop being updated (even through DLC) long before a lot of essential flaws are worked out of the game. Fallout 4 would be a good recent example.

Basically it could go either way. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm preparing for the worst.
