what should i do with my car
it needs a paintjob really. lots of paint chips and looks awful.
i fixed the AC, and everything finally works except the radio.
what do? it just sits there. i am busy using my motorcycle

sell it to me
i promise to keep it away from stancefags and vwfortex.
what are your plans for the thing? it is a pretty shitty daily driver. the gearing is all terrible. 4th is about 4k rpm at 40mph
id sell it for $1200 or so. that seems fair?
its not stock but it nearly is.
i stuck a 5th gear from a diesel in it
bilstein shocks, H&r springs, autox alignment
a very very good exhaust custom made for it.
get rid of those gaudy 90's clear front turnsignals
put some ATS wheels on it and maybe swap an ABA 16v and a 020 5 speed transmission, then drive the fuck out of it in extreme comfort
seems kinda fair considering the interior is in great shape
what state are you in friend, hell, you might be too far and im getting excited :(
illinois, in Normal.
headliner is dead
>1200+ miles
fuck
miles? bro i said dollars
its got 118k miles
mk1 gti not being perfect.
meant thats how far you are from me friend
the steering ratio sucks ass too. watch a review.
youtube.com
notice the part about the steering. start about 2:30 he bitches about the steering
fuck what I wouldn't give for that nice of paint.
Mine isnt only fading and falling off, its also the worst factory color.
gross, that things needs it bad
did the plastic flares fall off?
Honestly I'd restore the interior, fix any rust, and keep it looking exactly like that one; it looks like a survivor.
whats wrong with the interior besides the headliner?
The Euro mk1 GTI is a legendary hot hatch that was years ahead of the competition just by being a great allround package. The US version was more of a warm hatch though, some sporty trim pieces and a little more horsepower, but basically you're looking at a 70s econobox. A very good one considering the competition back then, but not a hot hatch
if you wanted the original hot hatch why not get a mini cooper?
for fucks sake
your reply does not relate to my post at all.
Nothing by the look of it.
just saying. i did not exactly buy this because it felt sporty. it does not. it was just cheap, very cheap. and sorta ran.
but it needed work, like a valve job to work well.
if you actually are into the hot hatch thing, get the mini cooper.
that ant stock
and that's way more rack backlash than even a yugo has
thats distance you nerd.
mine steers the fucking same bro. YES look up the steering ratio and compare it to any car. it IS that bad.

BAM fix the biggest problem with the car
is main complaint was the lash making the ratio problem worse
it does the same on my car though. i changed the ball joints, outer tie rods and control arm bushings.
>ball joints, outer tie rods and control arm bushings
all on my parts list. Does it not get better? Should I not waste my time?
does the front suspension of the mk1 golf use the roll bar as a radius rod ?
my current impression is that it does not
three and a half turns lock to lock is not odd for an old car
but something is definitely wrong in the video posted
Damn that's sexy
mine had play
if good then leave it
no the lower control arm has 2 bushings, both are replaced with very firm ones.
looks a cool as colour
thats like saying a Gremlin isnt a hatch
how are the 2L 16v mk2's? I'm looking into one
fix your radio. nothing like having everything working on an old german car... enjoy it while it lasts
they only put the 1.8 in them...
a 2.0 is a swap bro.
oh I see, i had my suspicions but was confused by the wikipedia article
dont worry i got your back son.
thnks dog
in my opinion the mk2 was the best one
available syncro
had 16v
had supercharger
better most everything
bigger brakes, etc
better steering rack
