Numb pile of shit, if you want a BMW coupe go with an E92 (M3 or otherwise). The Cayman is personally one of my favorite cars of all time but more or a sports car and less of a DD (not that it can't be a DD).

If you actually looked at their prices and didn't cherry pick a trim that just adds cost while coming with no extra performance equipment, 1SS starts at $42k and while M2 starts at $52,695. Getting anything other than white on the M2 will cost you another $500.

Camaro also smokes the M2 from in 1/4 and 0-60 which is realistically 95% of what you will be experiencing driving-wise.

Camaro doesn't need engine noise piped through the speakers since V8s don't have that problem

Also it'd be cheaper to get something like a Pontiac GTO for a fraction of the price of a new Camaro and dump $10 grand into making it faster. Put on a HSV front end and it looks cooler too.

The M4 sells off prestige more than its performance and lap times mean nothing to the prospective buyer. Even if it were a bit slower than the M2 (or Camaro, if this was the case) around some circuit it wouldn't make a difference.

The M2 is a poor man's M4? Fuck if I know, it's cheaper than the M4 and looks great in Long Beach Blue. Someone buying a M2 won't look at lap times to judge, and someone looking at lap times to judge rides the bus.

I've actually driven every single M3 aside from the E30 and the M4, and the M4 is hands down the absolute worst of the bunch. Yes, you can bench race all you want, but at the end of the day it's less fun. The steering is comparatively light, and very unresponsive. The engine lacks character and sounds like shit at idle and low revs. The interior feels cheap for a $60k+ car. Plus, you are very aware of how large it is. Not necessarily the weight, but the fact that you're driving a car that has the same wheelbase as an E39 M5, without the something that made the M5 great.
E92 M3 was the last great M 3-series. Yes, it was heavier, yes it numbers weren't as good, ut it just had the feeling. The high revving V8 had character, the steering was responsive, the interior felt appropriately nice.

So basically,

Forget the M4 and buy an M2 instead. It's not only cheaper but its GAWDMASHEEN status is practically in the bag.
