Repostan in new bread for my OpMo: Hep suits my fancy more, but i have some questions about him not answered fully by learndb >Frail 1 Is it permanent or curable by curemut or leaving him after his wrath expires? >Best ancestor for Octopode Which is it? Is the ancestor an Octopode too (so terrible AC)? Which one is able to carry my ass till i can stand on my own tentacles? >Experience gain Is it halved as for any summon if my ancestor does all the work? >Skill training Do i train a ranged weapon/spell skill once i got my ancestor, or do i pump everything in invocations to make him immortal and just sit back till i find decent items? >Healing the ancestor Is the Heal ability spammable (within the limits of reason)? Or will my piety get fucking destroyed after 3-4 casts?
Camden Howard
How do lajatangs even work? Do you thrust them like some double-ended spear?
Levi Martin
you twirl them like a cheerleader
Josiah Walker
the frail isn't a normal mut and doens't interact with curemut at all
it's the same as being slow while worshiping chei or loud with qazlal: it goes away when you stop worshiping
the ancestor is a generic human no matter who you are
i think you get full xp, not sure tho
Dominic Anderson
You use them the same way you'd use a quarterstaff except it has blades on it
Advanced techniques for polearms and staves look quite similar, actually. That's even how you train to use a spear
Stop fucking posting this shit if you aren't going to fix it you ANUS
Jace Ross
Why the fuck don't you take 5 goddamn minutes and fix that shit if you care so much about it, you lazy sack of shit.
Landon Rivera
didnt make it, not going to fix it whatcha gonna do
Evan Ramirez
Nothing, but you look like a doofus with MiBe tablord IQ, just sayin.
Grayson Cruz
What's wrong with it?
Ayden Watson
But I AM the MiBe
Liam Watson
>(a|A)non
Gabriel Reed
Don't make a fool of yourself if you don't know what that means.
Christian Bennett
>play caster character >pain in the ass until after Lair, possibly 2-3 shotted by many dangerous monsters unless gargoyle >fight caster ghost >feebly attempt to fend off a god
Caleb Morris
I wish at least some of basic god abilities carried over to ghosts.
Xavier Turner
I told him to put in (a|A)non when he was originally making it, instead of %playername%.
I assumed he would put in either user or user like a sensible person and not copy-paste my recommendation.
Thomas Butler
Hah. I'm actually used to it being used like this.
Zachary Adams
How much Int do i need to reach max spellpower if i have wild magic 3 + Majin Bo? (and assuming all skills at 27)
Easton Hill
That is a really complicated algebraic equation.
Isaac Lopez
Okay well I tried and got 7.3.
Ayden Rogers
>sensible person >MiBe
Ethan King
dev.berotato.org
Angel Rodriguez
kill me
Elijah Butler
what's the equation and where from
Nathan Gray
does VS bite have anything to do with unarmed?
Brayden Nelson
No, but the bite has good synergy with unarmed due to the fast attack speed that's also available in the early game.
Brayden Morris
holy shit that was a very intense orb run
John Collins
Sequell casts a spell. Anonymous is cast into beam.cc!
Angel Collins
ah okay ty!
Easton Fisher
assuming 27 all skill Deep Elf with :
5 str, 40 int, 15 dex 1 wild magic mutation robe of archmagi hat of the high council Fire Storm Spellpower : 200 / 200 Damage : 8d26
5 str, 40 int, 15 dex no mutation robe of archmagi hat of the high council Fire Storm Spellpower : 185 / 200 Max Damage : 8d24
There's something kinda funny about an iron imp being the last thing you see of what happened to be a very intense orb run.
Tyler Richardson
I-is this the right place to ask a thing?
I want to explore a gloomy cave and fuck up some monsters but simple graphics and ambient sounds would be really nice and I don't want nightmare tier time/resource management... Is there a baby's first roguelike kind of like this? Should I try a different general?
Parker Myers
Most roguelikes don't really have sounds
Maybe try Dungeon Crawl, it's pretty simple and fun.
Juan Gomez
I would recommend Infra Arcana as its one of the few RLs which uses sound, but it's like 70% resource management and pretty hard.
Lincoln Barnes
DCSS probably has the prettiest tileset there is, but no sounds. ToME has sounds, but is not as pretty as DCSS. Same for ADoM.
Cooper Smith
Most roguelikes don't have sound. There's DoomRL, I guess, though it's Doom, not beating up rats in a cave.
Jeremiah Green
I was literally at 7 hp 3 tiles away from 2 golden dragons and an ordinary lich and I only got decreased to 5 hp when I walked up the stairs (there's ton of enemies killer clown, moth of wrath, draconian annihilator etc.upstairs also). Even the local Muhammad would convert to Christianity if this happened to him.
Ethan Mitchell
O-okay... I'm sorry...
Gavin Rogers
Please don't roleplay in the thread unless you are going to be creative about it.
Cameron Jones
wild magic isn't an enhancer it's a separate bonus: x1.9 spellpower for WM3
and it should be (27/2 + 2*27)
so actually it's
(50)log2(1+[(x/10)(27/2+27)(1.5)(1.9)]/50) = 200
aka [(x/10)(27/2+27)(1.5)(1.9)] = 750
you hit max spellpower at 39 int with wild magic 3 and 1 enhancer
before the wild magic nerf it would have been 29 int
Julian Sullivan
What?
Austin Ward
play IA retard
Daniel Hall
Much better synergy with quick blades though.
Owen Brown
someone has a nice demonspawn going on xtahua, so i'm not gonna play and ruin it
Jason Thomas
>VsSk HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIT
Brayden Stewart
Ah, I see. What did wild magic do before?
Jonathan Evans
guessing it gave more power per level of the mut
Adam Rivera
How so? Quick blades has pretty piss poor damage and I don't think the bite can pull it's weight alone even if the blade has something like elec on it. Fists are better due to how you effectively have anti magic branded hands, a trait that is so good late game which is where unarmed really shines.
Thomas Rodriguez
Yeah, looks like it's +50% power to +30% power.
Julian Rivera
Would there be any interest if I were to make a roguelite recommendation pastebin?
I know we all want to try keep discussion of 'em out of the threads and hate the term, but I think it might still be useful - if even only to make it less likely people ask for recs of them or for opinions on 'em in the threads.
Parker Foster
No.
Michael Long
Trying a DeFe of Sif Muna, do i train Invo with her? Or do i keep focusing on magic skills and then train Invo only when my spells are online?
Juan Russell
I'd be interested in hearing your recs but not in including them in the OP.
I feel it'd just cause more offtopic discussion rather than stem the flow of it.
Dominic Baker
This is not the roguelite general.
David Reyes
Please don't make this.
David Wilson
Does Majin Bo take HP away while in Death's Door? If it doesnt, does it still grant the increased Spell Power, or is the bonus applied only after the staff takes HP from you?
Anthony Lopez
Alright, message received. Won't make one.
Wyatt Robinson
Is there even any such thing?
Caleb Cox
There was. A general will often roll around for a while when a very popular roguelite is released, but they inevitably die out due to the nature of the games and the players they attract.
Cooper Baker
All games played here are roguelites masquerading as roguelikes
Michael Hughes
>Does Majin Bo take HP away while in Death's Door? No
>If it doesnt, does it still grant the increased Spell Power, or is the bonus applied only after the staff takes HP from you? The bonus is passive, it still grant Archmagi in Death's Door status.
Luis Rogers
No, which is kinda unfortunate tbqh since it'd divert offtopic shit from here pretty well and would give a home to a lot of interesting games without generals.
But unfortunately there's just no deducated enthusiast community for them like there are Roguelikes since they vary wildly.
Binding of Isaac is nothing like Spelunky which is nothing like Invisible Inc which is nothing like FTL which is nothing like Captain Forever Remix which is nothing like etc. You just can't build a general on such a broad category of games.
Jackson Turner
>you made a modest sacrifice well fuck you too bitch
Grayson Sanders
I'm gonna try a challenge run of DCSS:
SpMo of Chei, no spellcasting allowed
Adam Bell
yawn
Asher Perez
Uh,...I don't fucking care..? Idiot??
Sebastian White
Please don't type like this, faggot.
Nicholas Bailey
No bullying, you sluts.
Chase James
Here's that back the fuck off guy !?!?
Justin Nelson
*control blinks behind you*
Jayden Lee
For the second time, no roleplaying.
Michael Richardson
*slams you with dark maul* heh, nothing personnel kid
Colton Jackson
Sorry to be a little spoon-feed seeker bitch. I'm the SpEn guy from last thread. Does the following sound like a not retarded plan? >Git 8 stealth and fighting, learn all spells in Mal (>Worship Ok until artefact dagger, robe, hat and cloak) >Learn Useful spells like Repel Missile, various blinks, Invisibility >Clear mines Then what?
Luis Walker
...
Aiden Morris
heh
that was just my illusion
Lucas Green
??spen
Jace Russell
I wish Brogue had those, it'd be pretty perfect (wait, no, it's got a nightmare food clock, nevermind)
James Thompson
Don't worship Okawaru unless you plan on staying with him forever, a SpEn cannot survive his wrath
Bentley Taylor
hyperpath: dungeon to lair, don't pass d:10 unless you have to because d:11 is the point where many vaults becomes much more dangerous clear lair clear orc clear dungeon pick a lairbranch based on your character's strengths, usually you want to do the waterbranch first, clear to branch:3 do branch:4 if your character can handle it, else do poisonbranch:1-3 get a rune clear vaults 1-4 clear depths clear vaults:5, or get abyssal/slime/tomb if playing a character that would have an easier time doing those than v:$ read ?mapping to skip as much of zot as possible take orb ascend
Cameron Lee
And sprigganed:
Jordan Roberts
this seems about right hibernation + confuse will basically carry you all the way through L + V + even U I'd recommend jiyva as a god
Leo Carter
Brogue does have tiles. No sound though. They are also Oryx's tiles, so quite decent, if minimalistic. The food clock is also really lenient once you've played a few times.
Nicholas Sullivan
>tomb >3rd rune
but why
Ethan Johnson
If you have silence+haste castable, good melee/ranged, and darkness/nightstalker(optional but nice to have), Tomb is actually hilariously easy.
Matthew Murphy
For some specific character situations it can be the easiest 3rd rune. Most of the time, it isn't.
Xavier Hernandez
Whoops, pressed enter too soon. You still probably wouldn't want to 3rd rune tomb, just like you wouldn't want to do the water branch first necessarily (shoals is unanimously known as harder than all other lair branches).
Michael Cruz
Shoals is easier than nuspider by a lot. Fastmove entropy weavers that spam are possibly the most dangerous lairbranch monster in nucrawl.
Shoals can also be easier than nusnake. This depends on your character.
Cameron Powell
Get spells online (it shouldn't take too long) then put 5 or so in invo by Vaults. More if you're really hurting for MP for some reason.
Ayden Gray
I vehemently disagree.
Chase Reyes
you mean shithemently get it because vehumet is shit
Cameron Ward
it all depends on your character if you are somewhat stealthy, shoals is quite easy if you're megatank CPA with -stealth, and no EV, then yeah, shoals is hard.
for spriggans, i think shoals is the easiest branch
Samuel White
>activate altar to see what it does >turn into a girl, lose 1 Strength, gain nothing I probably deserved that.
