how does sword damage work in this game?
if i've got a sword that does 600 str and 500 mgk, is that better or worse than a sword that does 760 str but only 200 mgk ?

Strength and magick count as two separate sources of damage, and are as such affected by both types of defense of the mob, that is, physical defense and magick defense. More commonly than not, the pure strength weapon will come out on top over str/mag hybrid weapons, except in certain situations due to resistances.

you sure? maybe it's just because i'm a magic knight but my Ascalon seems to tear most things up alot better than my standard strength sword's. Could just be the ascalon though, other enchanted one's ain't that great

That's simply because Ascalon is just very strong at stock against other weapons at the same progression in the game. The difference between the strength of the Ascalon and Dragon's Dogma is only 255, while the magick is 444. I don't know how far in the game you are, but once you start on enemies in BBI, the defenses jump pretty significantly, which will render the magick less effective that most you would find on overworld Gransys. Holy in itself is arguably the strongest element as only a handful of enemies/bosses in the game are resistant against it.

Does anyone have a fighter around level 60? The really useful one I had been hiring suddenly jumped 20 levels. I think someone used a maker's finger on something....

Also can we discuss team makeups? I think 2 sorcerors with similar skills + a fighter is a pretty powerful pawn arrangement.

I have pic related, she's not a fighter anymore but was until about level 56, so she can still take a fair few hits, the gear i've given her also gives her a decent defence too, higher than a number of the fighter pawn's i've seen around
I'm also in dire need of some feedback on how well she plays with others

I bought the game recently and all the mathematic I'm having to do is driving me crazy so I'll just ask this dumb fucking question here instead. If I want to maximize the discipline gain at the very beginning of the game, should I go into the world with just by myself and my main pawn or should I also get the 2 assisting pawns also?

you should read up on ring of perseverance first. discipline points have never been a problem for me, granted i dont give a shit about anything blue

Just go by yourself plus your main pawn. More exp = more dcp in every situation. Exp is capped at -25 levels, so this becomes a thing when you're level 200 or something grinding dcp since you can take level 175 pawns.

Remove the bow, have scather as primary and only have hundred kisses enabled.

For augments, get dexterity, arm-strength, adhesion, opportunism, clout and vehemence.

Gloves of might help too.

Only works if you fix the brain problems though

i mostly abused the jump slash. It comes out pretty fast and knocks most stuff to the ground. then you can go wild on them.
But they are only really useful in the base game. in BBI they feel lacking with their limited skills.
also, warrior pawns are kinda stupid, especially if you give them arc of deliverance or indomitable slash.
They are just too retarded to line it up.

Warrior class is fine, just listen to your pawn and think before attacking instead of going full retard and missing everything, you are gonna need someone to deal with range though.

You gotta rescue her from the duke's manse. The quest comes up after you encounter the dragon for the first time.

As a side note, petrifying arrows work really, really well of Garm.

How did I miss this quest after playing for 300 hours? I honestly thought after getting choked out she just fucked off and then never bothered to check on subsequent playthroughs. After she got me thrown in jail I just completely disregarded the romance.
