What's there a moment that you start to like cars?

Be depressed and want to kill self

2fast2furious comes out in cinemas

I should see that movie

Better kill myself afterwards

Never get to see that movie

wait till it comes out on dvd

decided to take interest in cars instead of killing self.
I should never tell anyone irl this story.

My first car that I thougjt was cool was a 1984 Porsche 911 targa. Too bad they cost an arm and a leg to get one in mint condition.

when I realized that girls don't fuck guys without cars.

My uncle bought me Gran Turismo 1 and I realized normal cars could be fun.

>Can't even greentext

Should have never gotten that DVD user.

>18
>Kinda already kinda like cars, but in a passing way. Been playing Ridge Racer a lot at around this time.
>Still in high school.
>Snow starts to fall and conditions get ugly.
>Get let out of school early.
>Have to drive twin sister home with shared jeep liberty.
>Sister forgets her purse in the band room.
>Remembers this as we're halfway home.
>Forced to spend more time in conditions because of this.
>By the time we are on the road home, the roads have become icy
>Take a slight left on the semi-curvy road.
>Lose control
>Sister screaming her head off and slapping me for some fucking reason.
>Remember that if I turn into it and countersteer, just like muh racing games, I'll be able to show some control.
>Do exactly that.
>Bring car to a stop.
>Sister still freaking the fuck out.
>All I could think was:
>"Fuck, that was exhilarating."

Couple months later, I start watching Rally and getting really into it.

>dont care about cars
>parents buy me first car
>its a huge piece of shit
>have to work on it so much that I end up learning about cars

Watching F1 and Moto GP on sundays with my father from a young age.

>be young
>dad really into cars
>always trying to get me to help him out
>I do sometimes
>I always suck and break something, or my dad just curses and yells alot because he sucks and breaks something
>stop working on cars with dad
>play wow
>become neet
>hot korean friend on the internet sends me links to Top Gear
>start getting a slight interest in cars.
>get Forza 4
>get really into cars
>get forza 5
>not as much into cars anymore.

At least in my short lived obsession I learned to drive stick, and do a lot of repairs on my own.

Are you me?

Someone on /r9k/ told me to practice my shitposting on Veeky Forums.

After awhile, it dawned on me that I actually like cars.

>22 just out of college
>have corolla
>go meet a friend i haven't ever seen (we met on wow)
>he drives a 1999 clownshoe
>fell in love then and there

i was too late to the clownshoe market though, too expensive for what you get, ended up getting a 07 z4mc

>was into classic cars as a kid because my uncle had a sweet Mercury Comet with a 454 swapped in
>get out of cars as a teenager
>see E92 M3 in real life
>think it looks neat, don't think much of it
>see it again when I pull up next to it at a stoplight, wondering why the hood has a big lump in it
>car takes off, fast, and something about that engine note just stuck with me
>first time I'd seen a car take off like that that wasn't a shitty Mustang or a Civic
>look up what it is, think it's neat
>catch Top Gear on BBC America, and it just happens to be one of the cars they reviewed
>begin to like it even more
>watch Top Gear every night at dinner
>I begin to have things to talk about with my uncle and my cousins again
>get more into cars as time goes on etc.
Even though I know the E92 M3 isn't the objective best M or anything like that, it's still my reasonable dream car. SOON

15 got my first car e36 318 man along with all my friends we fell in love with the appearance of the car. Never paid attention to cars so this was the best looking car I have seen ever since then I fell in love with cars. Got an mk3 supra after the 318 shit car. After got a 325 then now a z4

Ever since I played gran turismo 1

Would you mind posting some pics of the Z4?

I remember when I was 8 or 9, my dad bought a Plymouth Accord turbo. I remember he used to look back at me and say "want to go fast?" when I said yes he would downshift and the turbo boost would come on... Ever since then I've loved driving fast.

Gran Turismo

>be me maybe age 7 or 8
>visiting grandparents

>I'm finally old enough to have some sort of idea as to what's going on with this stuff
>he takes me to his garage

>been hooked every since

>riding in car with dad

>it's empty except for us
>suddenly a red porsche 911 flies by and continues to accelerate
>ask dad why it "looked so smooth" , he had no idea what I was talking about

only later did I find out it doesn't squat like a normal car under acceleration due to its RR layout.

>not as much into cars anymore
Which begs the question; why are you on Veeky Forums

>Plymouth accord turbo

You're thinking of an acclaim. I'm guessing you're not that into cars, even now.

>be me
>be 18, know nothing about cars
>guy i start hanging with has a 88 prelude
>we do sick ebrake "drifts" in the snow/wet dirt roads as our first dates
>fun as fuck
>start giving a shit about cars because of it

No I meant Acclaim, realized I said it right after I hit post. Just seemed pointless to make another post to correct one word. Most people don't care that much about early 90's shitboxes anyway.

>always like cars in general
>played gt on ps1
>nfs games on pc and ps1
>time to get license
>look at cars

its true, i am a textbook case of initial d fanboi, drifts are neat, but I drive ff cuz drifting costs helluva money, euro stud here

>Move out, own my own vehicle, become known as the car guy in my friend group, friends always ask me about their shitty cars problems
>God fucking dammit.

The day I seriously got into cars was the day I bought my own(at age 19). My brother bought it for $1,000, put in a new fuel tank then decided he didn't want it, so he sold it to me. First thing I ever did to it was replace the fuel pump(carbed, so side of block). It struck me just how easy it was, literally two bolts and 15 minutes of my time and I had a new part in there and it was running. so I worked my way up fixing things and eventually rebuilt the entire engine.

Now it's sitting in my garage waiting for a complete restoration.

I wish I could get that feeling back of driving that car down that back road for the first time. The front end was completely shot and it would weave across the road if I went over 40mph, the interior was dusty and dirty from sitting for so long, and the radio just barely worked, but enough to make out the station I was tuned into. The feels.

Parents would always buy me a hotwheels car when we went to the mall. I was into ricing and the fast and furious movies. Grew out of the culture eventually but still love cars.

>be 10
>dad liked cars, repaired them himself
>ask him a lot of questions all the time about what he was doing with the cars
>dad explains calmly, learn some basic stuff
>seven years later he teaches me to drive
>fuck yeah, this feels good
>keep helping him, repair cars together

We still do that shit, it's nice.

>like car games when I was kid
>teenage years I kind of like cars but what I like is based on how cool it looks, don't actually know shit about cars
>browsing /a/
>find initial d thread
>think "this show looks like dogshit but everybody in this thread seems to really love it so it must actually be pretty good, plus the soundtrack does seem pretty cool too"

started looking at cars when I was gonna buy my first car

wanted something special and cool

wanted performance

had friends on xc team that were car guys

Went full autism since

I love it don't judge

>21
>move out of neet life, get job at jiffy lube to pay rent

>want to do more, thinking trying to go over to a dealership to learn more

>dad had a vt commodore company car
>whenever we'd come across gravel carparks he'd do circlework
>was a skid fiend at 7 years old

I always liked cars guns and computers.
But then again I wasn't a sissy faggot like you weebs here.

My dad has worked at a body shop since he was like 19 or some shit, impregnated my mother at 21 at 21 so I've grown up around cars. He used to build them up, race them, take them to local late night car meets around the city (which was called motorhead). I used to sit and watch him build his projects, get them completed then he'd sell them and move onto the next.

Eventually he stopped building cars and turned into an old man, but on my 14th or 15th birthday he bought me a wrecked 97 mustang gt which we (mostly him) restored. Got my license, drove the car while it was pretty plain (other than a two tone paint job and some different wheels that I picked up cheap)

Slowly got attached to this old baby, and kept buying more and more stuff for it. Dumped thousands into it just to keep her going, but worth every penny. Planning on doing an engine swap whenever I can find a supercharged terminator motor. Got parts sitting around waiting to be put on now, just been too lazy and depressed lately to get them installed.

Ended up buying a newer SHO as a daily so the old pony won't rust away from the rough winters. (Sho is fun as fuck to drive too)

Thinking of going to school to become a mechanic (my city needs more of them and they make serious bank)

Want to get a new 2016 mustang gt in the future when I have enough money to cover insurance on all of these expensive toys (I'm a 20 year old white male, so like half of every paycheck I get is being dumped into insurance and the payment on my taurus)

>tldr I'm stuck being that car guy, and I doubt it'll change any time soon

Pic related> my babies

>calls others sissy faggots
>is too much of a sissy faggot to try brugmansia

>not a sissy faggot
>be an attention whoring tripfag for years
Pick one, and only one.

I didnt know I cared until I had to actually make a decision on my own car. I literally didnt know a hyundai from a honda before that. After obsessing over numbers for a month it just got to my head and now Im stuck here crying every day Im not hooning v8 to work.

cars squat due to suspension geometry
not due to drivetrain layout
get your knowledge right god dammit

>Be richfag
>Want to kill self cause only person i genuinely ever loved died
>Mate takes me for a hoon in high powered car (i'm talking scary high powered, under a tonne and over a thousand hp)
>Asks me why i'm not afraid
>MFW i was the first person not scared in that car
>MFW i ended up not topping myself and bought and built a number of cars for myself

Thanks cars, you saved me. I now like to buy cars that everyone else has abandoned, given up hope on and then turn them into godly supercar spec machines, despite what a waste of money it is.

I've liked cars as long as I can remember. Had car clothes as a kid, even when I was 4 or 5 I sat around while my dad worked on his cars, handing him tools and stuff. He would hand me a bolt or let me feel a bolt and then I'd go get whatever wrench or socket fit that bolt, still use this method today. Earliest fun car memory tho?
>Be 4 or 5
>late night sacramento
>dad driving turbo thunderbird
>me in passenger seat
>slapping rob zombie and tupac
>going really fast where nothing is distinct
>remember mom getting mad at dad for "doing 120 with user in the car"

Dad was a pretty cool guy when it came to cars, other than that he was a piece of shit. Fucker took me to a meth lab when I was like 6. Beat my mom alot too. I will give it to him though, when me and my mom got kidnapped by one of his tweaked friends he tracked us down somehow and fought the guy, giving my mom enough time to call the police. He got his ass beat cus tweakerguy had brass knuckles.

I remember that my mom found his old thunderbird on CL a few years ago. 88 Turbo. Some dude had dropped it, slapped 17's on it, and put a front mount on it. I called and asked about the car, apparently his uncle bought it from my dad in 2001, and it had already came with forged internals, and was pushing 20lbs of boost. Kinda wanted to get it but T birds are a shit.

Alphonse here.

Remember, you're always welcome here to post. I need more recruits. There's just not enough shitposters on Veeky Forums. I'm counting on you, senpai.

Wish I could have money to do something like that. Im just stuck with 2 mostly stock cars that are already aged...
