they aren't noobtraps, they are there for if you are missing some points to get an aura or unique

whispering ice for example scales with int so people stack as much int as possible and get items that give % of stats

If base stats are optimal for their stat value in addition to working for stat requirements, then gear choices become incredibly simple. The entire draw of this game is complex character building (it sure as shit isn't grinding the main quest so you can grind dried lake so you can grind maps)

For some reason I just can't figure out what build I want to play for my solo-character, now that my party members are offline. Anyone got any recommendations? What'd be a good skill to build a block/bleed-gladiator around?

It's 38% increased spell damage at level 20 and on top of that 500 str gives you 100% increased spell damage. And then you can equip Doon Cuebiyari because you're already scaling str for another 1% damage per 8 str.

It's not the best of builds but still pretty good and mechanically a much cooler way to stack damage than all these more multipliers they're throwing around these days.

Also you forgot Iron Grip from your stat arguments.

Lacerate is probably the top melee skill after EQ now. I think I saw some Static Strike gladiator builds on the forums but I haven't seen that skill being used in ages so dunno if they're any good.

Might try that then. Is EQ viable with a 1h by the way? I've never tried EQ at all since I saw that it didn't work with facebreakers, haven't played melee at all after that.

I played BoR / WoE sunder in ascendency and it was pretty tanky and cheap

Sunder. Main Hand Axe. Off-hand either a Triple Green Prismatic Eclipse for a a ton of speed or an Advancing Fortress for life gain on hit and another life roll. Just get a fast 1h axe and go fast.
Sunder's main wave will hit a pack. The shockwaves will also hit. All the hits add up to most of the pack bleeding, and the mob that takes the most hits will die first and will explode taking the rest of the pack with him.
Also Sunder's primary wave has a fixed AoE. Use Conc Effect for another more multiplier while only shrinking the shockwave. Packs will chain detonate once you get a single mob to die anyway so no need to increase the AoE of the shockwave.

Lacerate can work but without the extra More Multiplier of Sunder's Conc Effect or EQ's Less Duration, it just can't compare if you go for a solid cheap RT build.

I did a poison EQ occultist last league but that was with the unnerfed Voidheart. Not sure how it would work now. Probably still good with 1h if you can scale crit.

What build lets me be Static Shock?

Grab the Dual Wield wheel. Axe wheel. Scion Life rectangle. Templar's area is filled with life nodes and your choice of Duelist Leech or three additional jewel sockets.

You need to stack speed out the ass to make up for Sunder's inherent less speed multiplier. So various sources like Prismatic Eclipse, Onslaught from Axes, and enchants help a ton.

Energy is basically a second life pool, it acts just like regular Life except it regenerates after a few seconds back to full. Armor applied to life is also applied to energy.

What masters are best to get first?

Pick me a class for the hc league.

Generally it's Elreon, Vorici and Zana since they have the best daily deals and daily quest but if you need some specific crafting done you can farm that i guess.

I made the mistake of deciding to roll with EK again, since that was my first build when I started playing.

How do I scale it without critting myself to death on phys reflect?

Clear speed is okay thanks to the exploding minions and herald of ash prolif and the recent splash buff can only have helped, and you whirl around at pretty insane speeds

You can easily get a tree to like 60% block and use rumi's to cap it
