The way Mobile is handling status stuff is already different than how Indiv handles them. The two developers aren't necessarily sharing code or anything. And the visual FX are WAY different.
If anything, I'd say 2E's challenge mode was the test case for both, since it showed status effects in SG and used general palette effects with the Z-Engine which you see used in Indiv.
