>bridal practice
She's practicing to marry me

I both long for and fear publicity

>not even any DDX OP pic

Demo day reminder:
1. Don't make your game run an installer
2. Name your zip file the same as the game

poal.me/f9m8p9

Re-asking here just in case. I'd really like to know how people do this kind of thing in GM:S.

Only on Kawaiiboxie, a skin for Hitboxie that'll be released in the Lewdjam.

More like Smash MUGEN

Of course! That's the whole purpose of the game! There's even a rudimentary and really shitty looking character builder.

That penguin is better than the ugly ass DDX page.

Are there any DDX OP pics? I haven't seen any. Seems like this is criticism for criticism's sake.

>had a release version of my game on the desktop ready to go
>realize there was a game breaking glitch right after starting it
>almost didn't test it

that penguin has it all figured out.

youtube.com/watch?v=NGR5fTO2oio

GLUG GLUG CLINK!

AduLT DRINKS AMIRITE GUZ?

3. make the zip contain a folder with all the stuff and don't just throw them into the root.

there's been like one iirc, but it used the ugly as sin demo day banner

>
What I'm saying is that I've seen better WIP and placeholder models from people here than what shipped in revolution 60.

>
No, Wu has an actual dev studio and had a full team working on the game including her husband. Her role was the writing and the art. She's also a trustfund baby and financed the game with her parents' money.
Long story short: Way more resources than the average AGDG poster or even pro indie dev and yet produced something that a normal person would be embarrassed to show people.

no, because I always extract to a folder with the name of the zip, so then I have to go through an extra folder

This isn't me

Trump jokes, because whoever makes the pics is a great artist but obviously has facebook tier sense of humor.

sorry m8 I was just breaking your balls

we okay?

>platitude penguin

sure

:3

>Never finishes game
>Keeps shitposting here and attentionwhoring

Why is this allowed?

My archiver prevents files from spilling all over
If the zip root contains one folder or file, it extracts it there
If there is more than one file or folder, it makes a new one and throws it all inside

what happened to rotate guy?

Hey, guys.

I've been posting on here a while saying how I need 'ideas' or how I don't know what game to make, or how I'll be posting progress. I've never worked on them, I've never done anything I said I would.

I think I know why, now.

I know what I'm going to make. It isn't something I think is gonna be 'cool', but I'm making it for you guys. I think that's what I've been missing.

I'll see you around.

Was just a simple mistake
I increased the rectangle width in addition to the x value
silly me
not 100% sure why the palette is off though, but it's probably something with how i saved the image

Hi :3

>Start writing some mechanic
>Hack some shit together
>Oh god this is gonna take so fucking long
>Compile and test it
>It just works out of the box perfectly
>Thought I was gonna have to write shit loads more

well
I don't actually understand why it works but since it does fuck it

Well, people on last DD weren't that smart.

don't forget to back it up

Hi were is your game?

Hey uh,
since demo day lasts for 2 days does that mean I have 2 days to submit? I am not ready to submit in 2 hours

you do, but most people only play games submitted in the first 12 hours or so

I don't make games silly :3

>tfw make really simple phone game to test game maker
>tfw getting super salty because it's hard

you can solve that by: killing yourself

WOW! Nice edge friend :^)

But then I wouldn't be able to make people like you mad for no reason

>Work 20 hours a week part time $10.10 an hour

Will gamedev at least net me more money than my current job? I hate my life.

>Will gamedev at least net me more money than my current job? I
If you can draw lewd then you're set.
Otherwise gamedev will most likely bring you nothing for a long time.

>M-my hitboxes are moving on their own!

How do I not make it use an installer in GM?

I'm so confused. College was a mistake.

docs.yoyogames.com/source/dadiospice/000_using gamemaker/009_distributing your game.html
presumably don't pick the one that says installer

So, Demo Day is in the middle of the night for us, do you think it'll be busy right after it launches? Is it worth getting up for?

promo assets

not at all.

Ahem

that looks great!

I predict 5-12 entries right when it opens up

>baby toys
yep

A-ahem

Unless you're both able and willing to make lewd games or invest significant time and possibly money, just stick with your job.

Same
Just landed a job at Gamestop for NYS minimum at 10 hrs a week. at least gives me time to dev

or nodev rather

>college

...

this guy brings literal waifus to life and makes them actually cute

he deserves all that money

my dude did he just walk up and WAVEDASH??

forgot your name reda

Time to work on that waifusim I've been putting off.

Yes, Wavedashing is a mechanic in TUSSLE. You can enable or disable it globally, and make characters that are free to override that if they want to.

It's enabled by default though. Also, Hitboxie has a Shine.

Fuck I wish my game had a character so it could be in yours

You could always be a stage, or even an item once I figure out how to make those.

Yes!
That would work!

I'm making a character(s) for you

just to see them wavedash

So if we want one of our characters in your engine, how much art do you need?

Is there a specific set of poses you'd need? e.g. idle, walk, run, jump, light attack, heavy attack, etc.

2 HOURS, MY DEVS

Are you ready?

no

You need as much or as little as you're willing to work with.

How it works, you basically assign animations to the basic moves in the game, like walking, dashing, jumping, etc. which you are free to reuse or ignore. Anything you don't have animated will just default to your idle sprite (so the game won't crash if you forget a getup attack or something). Attacks are basically just assigning hitboxes to things and activating them at the right times. You can make more complicated things in the builder, too. For example, Zero can switch elements, charge his blaster, and fire a different elemental shot, just by checking for a variable and calling different actions.

If you've ever made custom fighters for Brawl using PSA, it's kind of like that. If you want to see how a character is made, I've been streaming Zero's creation for a few weeks now, and you can catch the archive here:

youtube.com/watch?v=M-sYhyKvk-M&list=PLt_jiuV55jym94npcnZfYIbJy6RZKke9y&index=1

Warning: Audio quality is garbage and there's lots of technical issues with the stream before I started figuring this out (and there's still a lot after that as well I'm a dev not a streamer)

Nope, maybe DDXI

>fuck around with the lighting
>looks like shit
>fuck around a bit more
>everything looks off
>can't reproduce the old look
>last backup is 2 hours old

I look forward to getting my demo in just under the wire and having it completely ignored. よろしくおねかいします。

7zip, rar, or regular zip?

normal zip nerd

Staying up late to submit even though I have work in five hours. I'm actually really excited.

anything except rar

I think I'm finally ready. I spent all day implementing rebindable gamepad controls and a quick-travel system, and then a heap of bug fixes.

I'll probably have to upload after I wake up in the morning.

Everyone needs to switch to 7z.
If not zip, and stop supporting .rar

neat aesthetic Edges of the paper are perhaps too ramrod straight on left and right though?

Thats something nice about unity, you can fuckabout in playmode, and if you like something, you can just drag it from the scene into your projects folder and it'll create a prefab with all the properties saved, but not overwrite the original.

Is my man Falco's shine in the game?

Modern Falco shine, or good Falco shine?

>just under the wire
>mfw upload finishing two minutes from deadline last time

>thread moving this slow right before demo day

Everyone's frantically bugfixing and compiling I guess.

ah yes, let's have a hundred posts a minute of DD blogposting.
last-minute procrastinators are trying

It's a good sign.

It means progress is being made.

>tfw game turns a profit

Assets or code first?

suicide

Due to circumstances it doesn't appear like we'll have a demo for this demoday. But that just means the next one should be all the more impressive. :)

Arikado's last words: "Computer is dying..."

But it looks cool... just post what you have?

That sucks

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

DONT YOU FUCKING DARE NIGGER

GIVE ME DEMO

I M M E D I A T E L Y

Assets, as much as possible.
