No dude, the damage counter brightness dims when your damage is being capped. When you're doing the maximum amount of damage possible to an enemy not including outside influences to your damage like buffs, it's white and yellow. When it's capped, it's grey and a dimmer shade of yellow.

Feel free to test it for yourself when the game comes back up. It's the reason you can't oneshot Y1 strike bosses at their lower level. Ever stopped to think why heroic strike bosses still need to be chipped away at despite being 70 light levels below you? Damage cap.

As someone who always uses GG in kings fall I can say this:
-Yes you can GG an ogre but so can two Sleeper shots
-GG'ing warpriest is good but its not that amazing,, you're better off with either Sleeper and a good sniper or Black Spindle
-in Golg its litteraly useless except for shooting down the orbs
-Its good for daughters but similar to War Priest. But it takes down about 3/5 to 2/3 of their HP per tethered shot IIRC
-and yes for Oryx the GG can one shot his chest but you do have to wait a second, and as for the shade its about 1/5 of its HP per untethered shot
