It's that time again, /fgg/. Time to play a bunch of dead kusoges (and some not dead kusoges) and watch as people gloat because they're the only people that still play that dead game.

>Points System
This time we'll be assigning a point value to the top 8 finishers in each tournament. The player with the most points at the end of the series will be declared Kusoge King.

1st - 32 points
2nd - 16 points
3rd - 8 points
4th - 4 points
5th/6th - 2 points
7th/8th - 1 point

The man with the most points will be allowed to ban 1 game from the next season's lineup.

-All games best of 3.
-Grand finals best of 5.
-If connection is unplayable attempt to fix it however you can. If it remains unplayable one player may forfeit or you may attempt to play it out.
-Check-in time is 1 hour prior to tournament start. Bracket will be shuffled at start time.
-In the event of a controller malfunction or any other event that disrupts the match the responsible player must forfeit the round. If no player can be determined at fault replay the set with the score before the malfunction.

If you don't feel confident you can just block it, but you can actually react to the super flash and shield it to gain like a million meter and THEN punish her. If you let her mash it in your blockstrings you are being too predictable.

iirc, there's a decent airdasher scene in that area too. Luckily, the KoF scene and the airdasher scene traditionally have a lot of crossover, regardless of geography. Maybe make it out to an event or two, see what's getting played, and decide that way? Or get both.

Oh hey a Texas user. I'm from Houston, but I've heard the anime scene is decent in Austin because of arcade UFO. Funny enough I couldnt tell you what's played in my city. A couple of years ago I'm sure Marvel was the thing and of course SF4 not sure about now.

Playing overwatch since its free for three days makes me realize that SFV fails at what it wants to be
Basically SFV wants to be the overwatch of fighting games, in terms of wide casual appeal, online focused presentation, online shop/currency, etc.
But it fails at what it wants to do.
The casual appeal is there, in that combos are easier and the V system is easy to understand but it lacks quality of life features like a dedicated tutorial, which shows how motions are performed. Speaking of QOL features, it also lacks good menus, as they are the menus in SFV are simple and clean but fail to entice the player to continue playing like overwatch does. It doesn't pop enough.
The online shop and currency is fine, but also suffers from the relatively boring menu design, maybe SFV should have something similar to loot drops? The lack of working lobbies still hurts the gams as is, thanks to the lack of being able to build an online culture through SFV.

I'm hoping for a large relaunch for season 2.

fighting games can never come close to the mass appeal of team shooters/MOBAs because it's one on one

any retard can hop on one of those games and flail around and still get a nice VICTORY screen at the end because of their teammates. not the case in FGs where it'll take a while before you get that. just look at all the permabronzes on here and /r/streetfighter
