Fuck off. I'm trying to make my Prelude mid engine, can anyone help?
I can put it in the space of the back seats + trunk right?
Jose Butler
Stripped out the majority of my maverick's interior. Planned on getting a car rotisserie for it until I saw the price of the one I wanted. I'm thinking of just building a basic frame out of 4x4s to elevate it 3 or 4 feet off the ground instead.
Jason Walker
we dont care
Noah Kelly
If you have to ask, you can't do it.
Mason Carter
This is the donor car for the maverick. It has a 460 and a heavy duty 9" rear end which are going into it.
Thinking about cleaning up the lincoln, throwing a 305 and 700r4 into it(for dat MPG) along with some rear end, give it a quick paint job and give it to my parents. They've been eyeing it since they first seen it.
Also bought a welder today. It MUST be a step up from the harbor freight shit I've been using. I had two $20 off coupons at summit, so fuck it. summitracing.com/parts/lcn-k2185-1/overview/ What does Veeky Forums think? Figure I'll practice my welding on the lincoln.
Josiah Morris
>dat chicago rust
go fuck yourself with a cactus. I'm posting this shit anyway.
Thomas Smith
Fucker I bought this off of was going to derby it.
Hudson Edwards
Thats not true man come on
Andrew Torres
protip: you're not capable of it. take your 90's jap ricebox nipmobile to some 90's jap ricebox nipmobile thread
Charles Williams
No Its a classic car and I have every right to be here and discuss projects
Sebastian Ward
You'll need to figure out cooling, drivetrain(figuring out how to get power to the wheels), exhaust(keeping the fumes out of the cab), mounting the engine, mounting the transmission, suspension work, etc.
You'll have alot of custom fab work ahead of you, which will involve cutting, grinding, welding and shaping metal.
You're basically asking how to build an entire car. It'll either be alot of work and a considerable amount of money, or you can hire out and it'll cost a boatload of money.
Does this satisfy you?
Daniel Lewis
...
Lucas Clark
No you moron Tell me how to cut it cant I just flip the drivetrain around?
I saw project binky
Hunter Bennett
I fixed the oil leak on muh ford today!
my family friend introduced me to this old dude who owns a shop and he helped me fix the leak, fix my tail lights and he's going to help me swap the engine and pretty much anything I want when I get to that point.
/endblogpost
Aaron Powell
why are you responding to this guy
Zachary Torres
big enough for ya? Thinking about picking up a mid 70s Fleetwood Brougham next.
Angel Richardson
pls go. because I'm a fucking moron.
Tyler Cox
What type of leak?
Jackson Flores
here's your >(You)
was pissing oil out of the oil level sensor. I thought it would be a valve cover
Nathan Cruz
paint came out great.
Kevin Powell
I want to dd a decent sized classic.. but I want mpgs... (15+). So what would be the best rear end for a 350/th350 combo that can achieve mpgs, but still be able to city and Highway drive? (Doesn't have to be fast by any means on acceleration, I just want to be able to cruise at 70mph)
Landon Martin
count yourself lucky it wasn't an intake leak from one of the china walls. I'm not too big into chevy, but I believe you could drop in a 700R4, which has an overdrive gear. I've heard they're basically like legos. >chevy parts are cheap >chevy cars are expensive >ford cars are cheap >ford parts are expensive
David Flores
yeah tru. I want to start building a 351 though, but I don't know where to start.
Christian Flores
How about getting a block and looking up a few 351 performance articles?
William Walker
that's what I want to do. I can re-use the stock crank, rods, valves and stuff like that, but I would need to get pistons, cam, lifters, rockers, GT40 heads and some headers and stuff.
also motor mounts
Gabriel Ward
All the parts I needed to get the new 670 holley on my lincoln came in last friday and I finally got her running on monday. Since then I fixed a high idle problem and pretty much have her dialed in. Oh, and I made some new battery cables because the old ones were shitty and corroded and made with those temporary terminals.
However, the manual says to hook the choke up to a 12v source and it turns out the wire I have it hooked up to is actually closer to 13 volts while the car's running. Is this going to burn it out or is it okay for my uses?
Asher Wood
1 volt isn't going to make much difference. Electrical systems in cars vary (normally) from 11(running on a weak battery) all the way to 14(strong charging).
Ideally 12.7v is da best. So i've heard.
John Moore
this reminds me I need to find a wiring diagram
Oliver Flores
Better make that 13.7, rather. Made a typo and just noticed it.
Thomas Parker
yeah that's not good
have you had your battery checked?
Samuel Collins
huh?
Kevin Brooks
when the battery is losing it's juice, the alternator has to overclock to keep it going.
Landon Brown
Sounds good, thanks!
Jason Campbell
is there any good way to fix rust. All the cars I can afford are really rusted like pic related, there could be a donor car for $400
Ayden Evans
Just started a bumper swap. Found a better one on Craigslist for cheap. I'll finish tomorrow.
Logan Adams
>Page 9 Bumping
Ryan Young
13.7v when the engine is running is just about ideal. Cars have 12v batteries yes, but you don't want just 12.0 volts
Lincoln Morris
sanding and welding, bondo rust converter spray if no fucks for a beater
Christopher Campbell
I'm selling a 75 duster. 6000 bucks, no rust.
Charles Martin
Rust like that isn't hard to fix really, just cut out the rot, make a template out of cardboard, and weld in some new metal. It sounds easier than it is of course, but I fixed rust similar to that on my New Yorker last summer and never did it before.
The problem though is the rust you can't see, if the quarters are that bad, then it's likely the floors, trunk, trunk extensions and frame rails likely have rot too, but not always.
Kevin Thomas
Put an H pipe and new Flowmaster 40s under the nova.
Can anyone tell me what I need to know about replacing an old engine with a crate engine? Is it just a matter of uprooting the old one and connecting everything to the new, or will I need to replace a lot of connecting stuff to fit one?
If it's too involved, I'll probably just take it somewhere if I can find someone who can do the work, but I'd rather try and do it myself.
Mason Cox
pic is $400 parts shell, no drivers door but user I live in Canadaland he pulled the original ad and re uploaded but this time without the trunk pic, trunk is really rusty
Owen Barnes
>unbolt transmission bellhousing bolts >unbolt torque converter bolts(either by tapping the starter to rotate the engine, with a screwdriver on either the flywheel / flexplate, or via breaker bar from front pulley >unbolt exhaust(this is going to be the hardest part, probably. usually seized on there). You can also just cut the exhaust pipes right at the manifold and weld a new flange on there or have a shop do it for you >unbolt motor mounts >disconnect everything else >hook up a chain to the intake bolts >cherry pick it out.
Sometimes you'll have to wiggle the motor loose, but you can get an entire engine out of a car in about an hour with a socket set and ratchet as long as you don't encounter any stuck bolts.
as long as you're swapping in the same family engine you'll have no problems with fitting it in there.
If you're swapping in a different engine, you'll have to research which motor mounts would fit.
With my 400m(replacing a 390) I was told 351m/400 motor mounts from a pick up will allow the 400 to bolt into my galaxie with no mods.
Noah Foster
Thanks guys, I think I'll give it a shot.
Jeremiah Ward
Cut it off
Christopher Ramirez
Why are wagons so fucking expensive?????

How hard is it to swap a th350 for a 700r4?
Grayson Thomas
Looks sweet senpai
Lincoln Ramirez
Barge, you say?
Nathan White
Any Illinois/Wisconsin /ccg/ guys gonna be at the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Milwaukee Saturday? I'll be there with the nova and doing the midnight drags at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove Wisconsin
Evan Ramirez
You should look into the make and model of whatever it is you are looking for and see how frequently they have to replace inner structure sheetmetal. Floorpans are cake, Mounts and supports are another thing entirely.
Connor Brooks
My welder is supposed to be in the mail today.
Anyone have any experience with gas? I'll mostly be doing sheet metal work like body panels and floor pans. Any type of mixes i should buy for this? I've only ever welded with flux core.
Pic related.
Cameron Ward
Came out great, cometbro. Can't wait to see it done.
Levi Flores

Was going to buy this HG Kingswood for $500 in my area, but chickened out from the rust
Hunter White
that's fucking fucked m8, hardcore.
Isaiah Butler
if you have shielding gas you'll be fine. clean the uck out of the metals though since its rusty and funky
Josiah Mitchell
So I deicded to buy an El Camino What are some common issues I should look for when checking them out?
Anthony Torres
finding your sister extremely attractive
but the usual stuff >rust >worn bearings/bushings >low compression or bad sounding motor >super sloppy steering box (more than half a turn of play) >4 pump brakes >slipping tranny >rust
Jonathan Wright
donks
Levi Brooks
>wincest is an issue
Hell if an El Camino was a guarantee for a hot bangable sister I'd rush out to buy one right now.
Henry Turner
Im Mexican, so more Cholo than Wincest
Carter Taylor
>buy an old Hooker headers sticker >don't have Hooker headers (yet) Sh-should I?
Ryder Garcia
El Camino you say? Picked this up for $600 last november. Put her on the road last week
Caleb Flores
Holy fuck. Taking that dash off took literally all fucking day. The leak in the windshield made sure every single screw was rusted on and would strip out the second I tried to loosen them.
Fuck ford and fuck their phillips head screws.
Luis Mitchell
Crash pad is dried up, cracking, and just generally fucked. and short of spending ten thousand dollars on a new one, or buying a skin only to have it crack a year down the road, I'm thinking of carving out a new one out of wood and then staining it.
Opinions?
James Perez
What do ya guys think of pontiac fieros? I wanted to get a 6 cylinder 1985 but i dont have the money just yet. I saw they are recommended in the sticky but I've been getting mixed reviews irl.
Wyatt Scott
use the old one as fiberglass mold
Samuel Barnes
Fuckin' sexy, m8
Gabriel Campbell
I'll be there with my dad's nova
FTFY
Carter Wright
Rigged up a bracket so the kickdown works, got a tach and a Mexican blanket for the seat. Almost have all the parts I need for air conditioning.
I really need to fix the cowl rust its just a bit of an undertaking, I don't want to put the carpet in until that leak is fixed.
Thomas Ward
they have a cult following, but I am not part of any cult
Robert Reyes
Those hood pins. Where'd you get them?
Daniel Baker
Is... Is that a good thing? Lol im kinda a car novice i just want a slick manual transmission and this car fits my aesthetics
Joshua Fisher
It's a good thing. Means there will be plenty of resources online for doing shit to it.
Communities centered around a single car can also point out common issues with that particular model as well.
Connor Carter
The original owner put those on way back in the day, I just put the pins and wire in them. I'm sure you can buy ones just like it.
Gabriel Ramirez
will this be your first car? they are alright, but not that good. you'd be better off just getting a more conventional sports car.
consider japanese honestly.
Daniel Murphy
I would kill someone in front of they mama for a fully restored Connie. Between 70 and 75 I kill they momma, wife and kids also.
Nolan King
I think I am going to start building an engine in the near future. you know any good guides for building a budget mild 300ish hp 351 or 302? preferable 351.
Cameron Smith
if it's his first car I wouldn't recommend a sports car, though.
if it is, he's probably young. And it's pretty much a given that young men beat their first cars into the ground before they learn their lesson. I know I did. and I know plenty of others who did as well.
Nathaniel Ortiz
I'm sure you can find plenty of articles at hotrod / ford performance
68 and 69 302s are known to be a really strong block, and 1987+ 302s have forged internals.
Parker Campbell
I would jack a car like that. Sorry but I'm desperate.
Xavier Thomas
Shit. I forgot to add something.
All you really need to do to achieve decent power from that size engine is to either find a decent pair of heads or port your current ones, then bump up the compression a bit(9.5:1 with smog era heads is as far as you want to go, no quench) with some new pistons. Also always be a bit conservative with cam choices. Also a performer intake and around 600CFM max for those engine sizes.
Austin Morgan
thanks muh dudes. is there a benefit to choosing 302 over 351? I like more displacement as a theory but we'll see.
Wyatt Ward
Either way you want to go. Those blocks have been done to death and there's plenty of resources out there on how to build one.
Brayden Collins
The pain in my heart looking at cars like this and living in the Northeast.
Sebastian Phillips
>Not just building up your str8 6
Justin Reed
What are you doing here?
Jose Reed
I've been looking at pick ups for car hauling. I noticed alot of ford 300 straight sixes with manuals are going for cheap. Any experience with them?
I know they won't be fast, but as long as I can maintain 55 on the highway I'm fine.
Kevin Rivera
I'm sure it would be fine, slow yes but the 300 is god tier reliability wise.
I personally like more power than that which is why I swapped my V8 for a V10 but realistically you'll be fine on flat highways and maybe wishing for more power on hills.
Nicholas Sanchez
>engine swaps to mutant uncommon engine >doesnt just turbo/ twincharge v8 like sane person
Jeremiah Cooper
A set of motorcycle handlebars fell out of my garage ceiling and smashed the fuck out of my Porsche's hood today. Please god kill me now
