I know, i'm having the same debacle. Though an Mt-03 from 06 ish can be had for 3 grand. Which is still arguably a bad deal against a 2014 Duke which can be had for a bit more.

I'm in the same situation as yourself. Hoping that a newer duke would be new enough to offset all possible expensive maintenance bills. And it's a good bike. No doubt about it.
