Also Quest for the Unicorn. It works by very different rules than most roguelikes, and is fairly grindy if you don't progress to more dangerous dungeons once you've cleared the previous one, but I've had some fun with it. The worst part about it is that it's very obscure, so there's little documentation about it. I can probably answer any questions about it in ~9 hours, since that's when I'll wake up. Just queue them up and I'll get to them in the morning.
Guide to an ez start:

Ranged weapons in QftU are something like DCSS' wands. They don't need any ammo, they must be "evoked" to attack at range, and you don't even need to hold them to use them. They're also ludicrously powerful at the very beginning, especially if you get one that has okay damage in addition to attacking at range. If necessary, sell your starting healing potions at the pawn shop in the beginning town so you can purchase a spear of spruce. Mages don't need to since they start with a wand of pine.

Since monsters can attack and move at the same time, being able to create a gap between you and the monster is very important. Second in importance is being able to withstand the attacks while you run back to the stairs. The stats don't do much until significantly past 20, so don't bother with them.

Seriously, if you see a "b", run away. They are immune to any kind of missile, are highly resistant to melee, and they inflict a DoT effect that is dangerous enough at first, but also stacks, both in duration and damage. I'm convinced that they're a spawn-bug since they give ~600 XP to a level ~8 character in a dungeon meant for level 1s, where the average XP per kill at that level is less than 30.

I got what I wanted (Spectral weapon, regeneration) in a single try though. If your RNG is bad, you'll get it in a 2nd try.

Really? I always wielded wands and poked them to death, since it always did a static 1 damage as opposed to the 0 damage most other things did.

When I tried to play older versions, the minimap colors were one of the things I couldn't get used to the most. I can't see anything meaningful there except for corridor outlines.
