Previous Thread: The fourth meet was actually quite successful, we had a few bumps along the way but by the end of it all it was went pretty good. Now in the last few days, there has been a sudden surge of aggressive behavior. It's like a few have forgotten what /hou/ is all about, you have forgotten that we treat each other like family, that we don't just attack on other members for absolutely no reason. Since we started this there has never been a thread like that before and I hope we don't come to that. A lot of you have been complaining that some people forgot the route or got lost or split away. You know, these things happen but the least we can do is understand the reasons behind them. Another thing I've been noticing is an attitude problem, some of you think "My way is best way", not bothering to listen what other people have to say. Y'all need to remember one thing that is there in every OP, /hou/ strong, /hou/ family.
Make sure you download the app "Zello" and join the H/o/u group. This is our form of communication when on the road, it's a walkie talkie app for iPhone and Android.
Listen, you all were acting like children in the last thread. Quite frankly, it is embarrassing to me, and I suspect to the entire crew. I was not at the meet for reasons that I have only disclosed with SC, but its no secret I think this group needs clear direction and leadership if it wishes to move forward.
I propose then the next monthly meet to not be a driving meet but instead to be primarily a meet to elect a hierarchical leadership.
I propose that the hierarchy looks something like this:
President | V Vice President | V Route Planner/Navigator
(Additionally, if it is deemed necessary in the future there should be a Treasurer role that sits at the same privilege level as the route planner/navigator. However, I currently see no reason for this role to exist but we should keep an open mind.)
I propose that election rules carried out in this manner: 1. To be eligible for a position, one must be nominated by another known member of /hou/. In other words, you can not nominate yourself for a position. 2. If nominated the candidates may vote for any nominee included themselves. 3. All members in /hou/ carry the same voting power: one vote per person per position. 4. The vote must be made at the meet in person, and the meet to be held at a previous meet spot generally accepted by the crew. 5. A candidate may not be elected to multiple positions at a time.
Please give thoughts on this. I feel that this is the most important issue facing hou/night.wave currently.
Now as I mentioned in the OP about the previous thread, I also want to add that the complaining that some people are doing is absolutely unnecessary. Many people are putting their time and effort into /hou/. The decisions that have been taken place in every meet has been a collective effort, mostly done by a few individuals however any input that people give is taken into account seriously, there have so many ideas floating around, the fact that everyone is saying something to make /hou/ better is everything someone can ask for in a club. However, when people decide that instead of contributing they will just complain is actually being counter productive. It ruins the mood for many, it causes unnecessary friction between people. Whoever it is needs to know a few things, if you have an idea then post it, let the people decide how it goes, if no plan has been placed don't complain about the plan that was placed out of the blue, either you help or don't complain. This was the case in a few meets but especially the recent one, since there were only a few days left and nobody decided where to drive. So then a plan was created and that was the ONLY plan available to us at that time, so we went with it. Then I hear talk about "Who's bright idea was to come here", well that was the plan we had, if you have a better one then post it and see what everyone else says. I don't want to go on a 6am rant but some of you need to remember how peaceful it was in the previous meets, how everyone enjoyed their time without any complaining. That's what I want for /hou/, we can't grow that much if there is people start to dislike each other. /hou/ is a family, it will always be, it's just up to you if you want to be a part of it.

I agree with the majority of your post, but I'll offer some suggestions to help refine the idea.
1. No top-down hierarchy, since this structure is conducive to power struggle, inequality, and may cause further hostility. I suggest in its place something akin to a senate, congress, council, roundtable, a group of people formally nominated to make decisions collectively where everyone's voice is heard and one doesn't take precedence over the other.
2. The treasurer and navigator positions are just extensions of a previous suggestion that was established on the principle of every member fulfilling their own unique role(s), and maximizing the inherent potential, abilities, and resources of every member as they come to realization. So not really a disagreement, just highlighting that this idea has been put on the table before in a different form.
3. No one should be able to vote for themselves, even if nominated. Allowing that privilege will never do any good.
4. It shouldn't be forced to be held at a previous meet spots. All of our previous meet spots have been less than ideal for various reasons. We should find an adequate meeting spot that meets criteria other than "can we all congregate at this location at this time." Somewhere that's not crowded, noisy, allows us to hear each other without interruptions. The future meeting spot should still be a group decision, nonetheless.
5. The multiple positions is a moot point if we end up favoring a council/non-council structure.

I think its best we rent a conference room or something if the sort for next meet for one hour. Something thats says 'we are congregating, and no you cant join us'

Dont do that shit man, we are just two strong headed people.

How about $5 for a 40" soft case if I ever show up to a meet?

This looks like a good future home of /hou/ meets. Happy tea has refreshments and decent tasting food and dnb may have some games and drinks, but all we do is talk in the parking lot
