Appreciation General

Post investments

Pic related, the Mercedes-Benz Porsche 500E, is around $50,000 and steadily rising

there's one of those in my neighborhood.
apparently still in the same ownership like it was over 2 decades ago (I wouldn't sell it either)

I don't think you understand investments, yes some cars will rise in value, but that's only if they are sitting in garage all day.

Welp, first one that comes to mind is something still relatively new, the FJ Cruiser. Clean, low mileage examples have been appreciating the last 2 years. Pretty safe bet that decent examples of these guys are headed to future classic territory

I know some Japanese dude who literally cuts off fenders of classic Porsches to replace them with slapped on goofy looking fenders and magically every car he butchered went up in value.

Suspect number 2, diesel H1 Hummers, these things have also been on the uptick over the last couple years, you have prime examples selling in the 6 figure territory now

whoops, forgot pic

Suspect 3, Dodge Viper

These guys have really started to pick up steam in the last year, in another 10 years or os, decent examples are going to start selling for ridiculous money

Yea, guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you want to know what goes up/down in value, just look at the market, and there few books that try to predict how much a car will go up/down.

RX7 FD

One that's really been flying under the radar/always seems to surprise people is the SN95 SVT Cobra Mustangs.

Clean examples of these are seriously starting to pick up in value/you could even build equity in restoring a shitty example at this point.

>RX7 FD
Very true, although you have to be in the right market for those to get premium money

A BONE STOCK Integra Type R.

You can basically ask anything you want for these now if you have a completely unmolested one that's in decent condition

99% of new cars aside from a select few rare special orders and combinations are going to continue to depreciate and boomer mobiles are going to continue to appreciate in value.

>can basically ask anything you want for these now if you have a completely unmolested
I think that can be said about any car that's "older" as long as it has some factory go fast parts, if it's clean and not raped by a 18 y/o, you are golden.

No one is ever going to pay top dollar for a PT Cruiser GT. Hell most people won't even pay top dollar for a regular SN95 GT. You absolutely have variation in how performance oriented cars age out.

good example. what about an esprit?

Obligatory god chariot

My old man, I shit you not, almost got me one of these for my first car but we were 50/50ing and I didn't want to spend 2500 and I thought they were ugly.

I will always regret being so autistic.

In the US market, you really can't go wrong with any Lotus so long as you don't wrap it around a tree

Another solid pick

Obligatory post of it's closest rival

You will literally have to pay brand new 911 Turbo prices to get a stock virgin one nowadays.

What model year?

I'm not him but im guessing he's talking about the 1989 Sport Evolution

Wasn't that a European model, not available in the USA?

wait until you can import them
all supras will go up in cost

These little shits have the potential to reach Beetle levels of cult status.
Gonna take a while though.

Really any model is rising in cost

Obligatory

Believe it or not, these glorified Opels are significantly more expensive than the usual German super saloons from the same era. The cheapest one I could find with a cursory glance is 32,500 eurobucks

I never understood why he cuts all the panels to fit his bodykit onto it. Couldn't he just make full sized panels, remove the stock ones without cutting them and simply screw his panels on instead of screwing them onto the existing panel which has been cut off?
I mean ofcourse it would be more expensive for him, but it's not like these kits are cheap to begin with

>cars as investment
>when the bubble is already insanely inflated

Who knows when (if) it'll pop, but right now, it's stupid late to get into it. Collectible car prices have skyrocketed unfathomably in the last decade.

One of my dream team members.

I just want to make love to it so baaad.

This one will fetch good price. Mazda no longer does wankel I think all of them will fare well in the future.

it's because he's a hack.
his whole aesthetic is borrowed from the 964 turbos that used to run in JGTC

Is the value of the car really rising or is the currency just inflating so fast it appears the car's value is rising?

if that were true all cars would rise in value

Well, you can't really go out and spend $1000 and get something good like you could've 20-30 years ago, so inflation is definitely happening. On top of that the cash for clunkers program got rid of all "beat up" cars that are fixable thus lowered the amount of vehicles on the road.
