Who wants to help me pick out a used BMW from craigslist. This is only my second private sale, first one was from a trusted family member so nowhere near as difficult. My budget is $2500 in hand right now.
Thanks in advance!
Here is what I'm choosing from; they are all 3 series and all auto:
Why would you buy an automatic 3 series? That's such an awful car. The point of the 3 series is to be a sporting family car, if you want mushy automatic luxobox buy a 5 series
Either the1994 325is or 1995 318it based on the sellers and the info. These guys seem to keep to date with services, etc. Just get a second opinion before buying. I'm sure you can find a master tech that can look at the car before you buy. Also try not to get stabbed out there in Providence, shit's crazy, I moved out as soon as my rotations were done at the VA.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the automatic 318 unless you want a car you hate driving. AVOID the E46s in your price range, they will be awful, neglected, worn out cars.
Jaxon Gonzalez
I think it's his budget, you'll be hard press to find manual versions for that low.

Luckily I have an uncle who owns a german car repair shop. Can stop by any time for free inspection on these.
Carter Powell
It is absolutely my budget, I also prefer an automatic for my daily driver desu pls don't kill me
Joseph Watson
I've heard 5 series tend to have more issues with age especially electrical

Don't buy an automatic 318 Don't buy a $2,500 E46 Don't buy a $2,500 VANOS equipped car Don't buy a $2,500 convertible Don't buy any used BMW with rice mods (i.e lowered, cheap wheels, "customized" interior)
Of course they do, more luxo-crap means more to go wrong.

BTW I am living rent free and I have another $3000 sitting around for mods/repairs.
91/92 E36s are non-VANOS You don't want a cheap, high mileage VANOS M50, you will run into VANOS issues that will cost you an arm and a leg to fix if you take it to a shop.
Dylan Green
God I just want to find a fucking low mileage E30!
It's so hard in New England
Ethan Adams
A decent E30 will cost more than a decent E36 in the current market. E30s are transitioning from "old car that only a small enthusiast market cares about" to "collectible and dwindling in numbers"
I found one with 114k miles, only 2 owners, new timing belt, water pump, suspension, brakelines, no rust and a laundry list of other replacements. Service records dating back to the dealership in 91.
Just waiting on the guy to stop dicking me around. In the mean time I'm looking at e36s
Jacob Ortiz
btw don't buy an automatic E30, they're dreadful cars to drive, painfully slow, and the slushbox is not very durable.
Dylan Clark
lel I live in New England as well.
I almost bought these two.
this ones from South Carolina but the dude is originally from Connecticut
