What I'd do, which wasn't always quick but it worked, was I'd burn the crystal in regular dps stance with back crit crystals on. Then when the crystal was dead, I'd get out of combat, change to front hit crystals, switch to intimidation mode, and just beat the shit out of the tree.

Here's an ancient webm of me doing it in dreadnaught gear. I had a lot of room to improve back then, and by today's standards it's pretty bad and you could easily do better. It's no speed record video, and there are definitely other ways to do it (some people stay in intimidation mode the whole fight, some use slaying crystals and keep their hp low on purpose, etc) but this is how I used to do it to get consistent death-free clears that I could repeat consecutively, i.e. without relying on long cooldown skills like unbreakable will to keep me alive with a slaying crystal going. a.pomf.cat/vqnoty.webm
