Got a running dr big around the house now. Took it for a ride yesterday, comfy as fuck but still very rough around the edges when it comes to shifting/clutch/throttle/sound. The cam chain tensioner broke during a ride with the previous owner, which really fucked shit up in there. Bent valves, damage to the piston, broken chain, and some more. That's all out of the way, though, after a 30 minute ride I turned the bike off, and smoke was coming up from the engine, between the steer and windshield. No smoke is coming from the exhaust when it's running, not even when the engine was still cold. I'm thinking something might be up with the valve seals. Anything else come to mind ?
