How would an artist find someone to work with who has a game with some kind of a story/lore, and doesn't give up within 2 weeks?
Samuel Watson
pay $$
Benjamin Powell

or wait until they've finished the game and it just needs art slapped on, and then only if you sign a contract giving them rights to all your work if you flake before release
Mason Cook
>pay money to work on someone else's game
Matthew Ross
I think most people here find that artists seem to give up faster then programmers so giving up after 2 weeks shouldn't be too much of a problem
If your art is good enough you should be able to post it asking to work with someone and you can pick from the people wanting to work with you
No one will take you seriously unless you post your artwork though
Owen Baker
Why?
Michael Davis
The programmer doesn't "own" the game if other people worked on it
If it's your art in the game that art still belongs to you unless he/she pays for the rights of it. In the same sense the programing belongs to the programmer unless you paid for it.
Aaron Peterson
I can't draw or write
Luis Diaz
Some up-ice fixes that needed to be done before more boss work. Now it works on slopes and one-way platforms, and doesn't do silly things when you use it next to a wall.
Jacob Wright
If you can program you can still make something lewd
Eli Young
That's really good
It just works™

>Used to work in a solicitors' office >Potential client comes in >"I need a lawyer. I paid an artist to work on my videogame and he's overdue with a piece of work" >Has a dodgy Spanish accent, kind of unusual in my area of Scotland >Ok, what was the agreement? >X amount of money by Y date >Well he's only overdue by 2 days. It sucks but maybe try to conta- >"NO HE HAS BROKE AGREEMENT, I WANT TO FUCK HIM FOR ALL HIS MONEYS" >He actually said that.
Later I told my buddies who had done some gayboy gamedev course at Uni and they asked "Was that Spaniardguy? Yeah he's a huge cunt".
Turns out he didnt even contact the artist to ask where the work was, and he hadn't actually paid him yet, despite the agreement stating that 75% of the funds would be paid up front.
Logan Barnes
>75% of the funds would be paid up front A lot of loyalty for a highered artiest
William Wilson
>gamemaker tutorial tells you to use an entirely wrong action that just doesn't work in one section >the next section that gives you the code that you would have ended up with from the last section has the right action

>the devs pronounce it "go dot" what the fug
Grayson Roberts
how else would you pronounce it?
Christian Davis
Apologies, I got it backwards. 25% up front, 75% after work was received.
It wasnt even a lot of money, either. It was effectively for some background art and some cover art.
Thomas Scott
I pronounce it "gaw-dawt", dunno about that other user though.
Justin Nelson
is there somewhere I can get a free model for like... a giant cavernous room?
Aiden Rivera
That sounds like a fair deal
Noah Morris
like the play, not "go ."
"god oh" or "guh dough"
James Barnes
They pronounce it "go dot" because the program logo is a "ro bot"
Blake Campbell
>lewd starts in a day >still no good small scope but fun idea
Elijah Martin
That's stupid
Hunter Brooks
Godot is stupid. Did you miss the trump meme?
Nicholas Campbell
should be 50/50. at 25% people still scam and go away with the lineart.
Elijah Garcia
oh, u mean you wanted to work with someone that has a game. I thought you're the one that have the game and are finding for programmer that doesn't give up within 2 weeks.
Well, in this case, work for free. there's plenty of people require art work for free. I need an artist that can work for free too~
Oliver Rodriguez
I've heard it pronounced "go dough"
Jayden Price
>Did you miss the trump meme? What are you talking about?
Jonathan Sullivan
>watched every YouTube video I could find on Blender >still not good at 3D modeling
Levi White
because you have to actually practice. you only really need to know some basic tools for most modelling.
rigging and animating is a different nightmare beast
Carter Wilson
alright so I have this... thing. it looks marginally better from inside it, but still looks pretty bad
there's a hole in the ground and you'll drop down, get some item, and then come back up through the staircase (which will have a button to open the door so you can't open it from the main room)
Mason Gomez
just gotta practice force yourself to make a different thing every day even if it turns out shit you you will improve
Cameron Cooper
>read a book on C++ >still don't have the skills to program videogames I give up
Jaxon Myers
>watched every bob ross videos >still not good at drawing
that's how retarded you sound like
Charles Davis
people who tell you that 100% of good artist just repeated forever tend to avoid to discuss about the 99% of people for whom it didn't work.
someone add this shit to the op because I'm tired of posting it every single time some shitter has trouble with blender
Tyler Russell
He CAN'T keep getting away with it!
Jordan Garcia
the 99% for whom it didn't work aren't just poor bastards who had no luck. Repeating things forever mindlessly is not going to work, obviously. You have to apply yourself and practice in a manner that actually advances your skills.
Bentley Watson
I always thought it's a reference to the Samuel Beckett play.
Gavin Lopez
>the 99% for whom it didn't work aren't just poor bastards who had no luck >tfw not lucky enough to have talent >tfw I'll never make it

see? you go with the belief I just explained. you only see the 1% and pretend it's a "everybody can do it".
Wyatt Powell
Ah I think I got inspired now
Connor Turner
I second this so much. Every time someone asks for help in Belnder, they get directed to the official guide (which is not free), or occasionally get some good video tutorials.
I believe that you have posted that link before, but I have never seen it, so thanks for posting it again!
Oliver Gomez
>want to make a shitty freemium game for mobile >have no ideas >never gonna rake in normie dosh Dang.
Camden Davis
Well, let's say that I go by what I know to be true. And I know that *I* can do pretty much anything as long as I put time and effort into it. If you can't do that then it's not my problem.
Jaxon Thompson
>watched porn for 15 years >I'm still not a cute girl who loves to suck dick Why do I keep living?

'Talent' is the biggest, worst meme humanity has given birth to in its whole existance
talent doesn't exist and faggots who fall for the talent meme are retarded

Ryder Ross
Should probably not be licking your monitor, user. That's weird.
Brandon Hill
That's right, god created us all equal, anyone who is smarter or advantaged got it by oppressing poor minorities and making them less smart giving them less advantages
Justin Johnson
>super thinly veiled pedo thread okay

This whole site is a thinly veiled pedo image board.

Has this been updated recently? I remember it didn't even teach cycles and had terrible mapping/texturing tutorials that would discourage any beginner because of how shit they looked.
Jace Taylor
>Old English talente, talentan (as a unit of weight), from Latin talenta, plural of talentum ‘weight, sum of money,’ from Greek talanton >the value of a talent was about twenty years of labour, by an ordinary person it's not a bad analogy if you keep the original meaning.

Kayden Thomas
jesus was purposefully vague with this bullshit so the joos wouldn't understand
Xavier Smith
just raise your kid (when you have one) to be super into drawing things on paper and you will have a kid who would be a candidate for blender art when they get older, i find its because i grew up drawing crazy insane shit when i was like 7 years old that made me an insane artist type. now i just need to mindlessly practice blender and watch a billion and a half youtube tutorials like you guys have been doing, i can make good shit but not when i dont know this crazy complex program interface
Dylan Butler
>live in brazil >didn't join police force It's like you don't want to be a god of life and death

post yours, friend
Joshua Young
he gets to actually make decent money doing art since 100 american dollars is like 300 bucks in brazil, meanwhile we gotta deal with inflation and california tax and california rent prices here and somehow survive on a freelancer's wage while flipping burgers or something
Jose Brown
That's what makes english language so fucking messed up. Nobody knows how to pronounce anything. And then we complain when foreigners can't pronounce shit properly.
Austin Reed
>make a small fortune drawing furry porn >get robbed by a biker with a gun such is life in brazil
Eli King
Mine is going to follow a TCG format, somewhere between all the games I played as a kid. I only have test shots right now as I'm a massive procrastinator.
Levi Martinez
If you made a successful game you could be.
Josiah Jackson
I'm going to make a videogame and there's nothing you can do about it.
Logan Peterson
good luck with that, I'm hoping to play the demo soon

I really need to git gud at coding. My rpg design beliefs are finely honed from decades of playing rpgs.
>used to go to mall with my mom and my brother, I was 5 and he was 8. >she would leave us at wizards of the coast while she bought clothes and shit. >somehow me and my brother decided to try and get D&D 3rd edition instead of pokemon cards or magic cards. >store manager was a bro and helped convince our mother with us (probably just wanted to sell the books desu) >My brother made me DM >I was DMing at the age of 5 >I still have old yellow ass D&D DM notes from back then which have a bunch of spelling mistakes that were written on a legal pad.
Here's how I'd do it.
Instead of being hard locked into classes. I'd have a system where you buy Skills Traits Attributes
Classes would be like purchasing a skillpath that unlock a group of traits that required a prerequisite of Skills, Traits, and Attributes.
For example the "Paladin" might be a hidden class requiring these prerequisites - A melee combat weapon skill at rank 6 - heavy armor proficiency - shield proficiency - a charisma of 15 - a constitution of 14 - a strength of 14 - a wisdom of 12 - a intelligence of 12 - A set amount of lawful and good acts (recorded from decisions during dialogue and quests) - A set amount of piety, gained from praying, doing deeds for a church, reading holy texts etc - A hidden "Selfless Act of Heroism" These could be tagged for certain quest choices. Performing a selfless act of heroism would unhide the class so you could see the other prerequisites
The paladin class could be bought for an amount of exp and then you could buy paladin only traits like - Hit Dice d10 rank 1 - 20 - Aura of Courage ranks 1 - 10 - Lay on Hands ranks 1 -10 - Divine Health [disease] - Divine Health [poison] - Divine Health [corruption]
Some traits are flat, others have scaling ranks. But the class itself would never force abilities on you that you don't want, not even a classes hp.
Caleb Smith
Same to you, user. I'll be keeping an eye out for progress. (screen is me trying out screen layout and stuff)
Sebastian Smith
Kinda progress. Setting up my actor parents and children for easy use in both setting up the bases and no fuss when players are constructing them. I still feel I could make this thing tighter.
Pic is the lightswitch. Spawns amounts of lights as defined when dragged into the level and the necessary variables are public so that my room BP can update them if a player adds or destroys a light. Will replace the transform and spawn with a mesh to match so that even if they are deactivated in the event graph player still see where they are.
Mason Butler
Come on, it's not too hard to teach someone how to use a scanner.
Or better, buy him a tablet and pirate photoshop or Aesprite for him (that's still yours if he gives up). Shit's super easy.
Leo Moore
Veeky Forums turned into reddit-lite normie central years ago. Me saying that is literally a bannable offense because the rules legitimately say that you're not allowed to complain about Veeky Forums.
Brayden Nguyen
>ideaguying
Joshua Diaz
Make it dependent on a quest with prerequisite attributes to add some role to your roll and you got yourself a pretty good system.
Adam Torres
gr8 job monodev, looking sleek
Caleb Mitchell
>Your game don't have multiplayer online
Sad every time
Xavier Sanders
>rpg gameplay mechanics are hard to code
If you were talking about "I'm going to have an action RPG with hundreds of weapon styles and animations for each society and race" that would be ideaguying.
The stuff I was talking about you could literally just have like, a dictionary object with
the trait class could be as simple as int currentRank int maxRank string name
gameplay would just involve checking the list in player for if he had a trait or not.
Xavier Rivera
;_; it makes me sad every time since thats not easy to do when your just starting out making stuff
Chase Smith
On that topic, what parts do you keep serverside and what parts do you have clientside? There is so much cheating potential here but I don't want to burn down homes of server owners.
Nolan Long
>if my game doesn't have online I get shat on by all the loners Fuckin hell.
