thinking of picking this up for cheapo
r8
how do people put bigger tires on their trucks like 33s without blowing the tranny and fucking with the odo and speedo?
Do it. Expect problems galore and rust though.
>postin muh truck
Im looking to replace my v6 autotragic S10.
How are Ford rangers? I cant find any single cab V8s with 5 speeds in my area.
I want a manual cause im tired of getting my best fuel economy at 60 mph anything above that and im at 2k revs and my fuel dissapears
i have a 2005 v6 reg cab ranger. i rate it 8/10. its pretty comfy, has decent power, is decently quick.
If you don't I will
>best in class torque
No
Probably going to be a Canyon SLE/SLT w/LFX V6 soon.
I was thinking about getting a full-sized truck, but they're fucking expensive. The Toyota Tacoma hasn't been updated and is also fucking expensive as well. The Canyon fits all my needs, being comfy, being able to haul what I need, and something I can drive and get in/out of without back pain.
I was wary of GM, but it's based of an Isuzu/Holden so I'm not worried about that.
>Tacoma hasn't been updated
Are you just pretending to be retarded?
Yes, stay mad.
autoblog.com
GM had more HP and torque 3 years ago. Rub your nocar ass on that bench a little more.
okay, retard
None of my local dealerships had new Tacomas, most were 2015 or before. I'm starting to see 2016 models which are updated, but they're fucking absurdly expensive at $35k+.
They still offer the 6.2L today stupid poor nigger.
Where do you live that dealers still have 2015s in the 3rd quarter of 2016? The 3rd gen came out last September.
>they still offer the 6.2 today
Yes, and it makes less torque. I'm glad we're on the same page.
Houston
The 2015 models were all used. I was looking about 2 months ago when I could drive, haven't really been looking since then.
Well, used makes more sense. I doubt there are very many used 2016s at this point. I've seen Tacomas upwards of 50k, which is insane considering you can get a platinum Tundra for that price.
I'm looking at both new and used
Granted, I am going to go shopping again when I'm able to drive again, probably around the 2017 model year. I'm sure there'll be new vehicles by then.
>i'll post the old article because the new one hurts my feelings

>470 LB FT of torque @ 2500 RPM
V8s BTFO!!!
>ford.com isn't reliable
>but check out these 3rd party articles instead
You're the same stupid nigger that thinks the GT will be over 700hp when it's not even out yet. Keep benchracing vehicles you couldn't sell your entire family to buy poor kid.
How do you cunts feel about utes?
>implying they didn't get their information from ford themselves
>hurr durr a 2 month old article is more relevant than a 1 week old article
>b-but muh V8
lmao, stay btfo
>can't link to a ford.com article
>thinks 10 and 11 days is a week
I know you project monkeys are stupid, but really? I guess your ass is still hurting from crying about your fat poor mom's ghetto Pontiac. Stay poor.
>implying they didn't get their information from ford
>n-no! it's not true!
I'm glad to see you're still triggered, cuck.
stay btfo
>this SAME cuck is still triggered after getting BTFO
Glad to see you're still nocar and poor as fuck living in the hood, nigger. Provide a legitimate source from ford or shut your fat lipped monkey ass up.
>edmunds isn't a legitimate source
>literally denying information they got from ford themselves
lol, stay BTFO
>this same poor nocar nigger keeps posting shit about ford when he will never be able to buy one, only ride in the back of one after robbing the local slum store
>cuck is projecting again
>ford makes a press release touting best in class torque at 450 ft lb but doesn't mention anything about increasing it even more
Perfect logic nigger.
>literally lives in the hood
>has no car
>poor as fuck
Right. You admitting to living in the hood and no family with money has a piece of shit car with nearly 300k miles. But then again, your reasoning is why so many niggers get shot and white cops walk completely free of charges because he dindu nuffin.
>information from ford isn't true
>muh outdated article
Okay.
>making all these projections
Wow, I really hit a nerve, didn't I?
How many miles on it? My truck is at 161k
143k
its an edge.
farm used truck, no rust anywhere on the body, a/c redone.
planning to do a 5.0 swap in a few years
>cuck ragequit
The truth hurts, I see.
I feel like my country doesn't appreciate them nearly as much as it should
Ford didn't put a V8 in the ranger, explodes had them though, swap might be possible.
I have a 2.5l manual, love it
A truck is made to tow, so they have tough transmissions. 33s are about the same size as stock on new trucks, and some people run 37s or bigger on stock trannys. For classics we have speedometer cables and you can get ratio changers which are little boxes that adjust for tire size/gear ratio. Modern ecus on most trucks can be told the truck has bigger tires by a dealership style scan tool.
I mean i would want a full size truck thats a single cab V8. But the fuel econ is the only thing that concerns me
>all this greentext
Most threads are filled with implications and shitposting, but fuck man truck threads are the worst. This is why I usually stay away from them.
As long as it not a front heavy overpowered ox cart like the one you posted.
They have 5.0 swap kits for 400 to 600 online.
I wish they had LT trim 2016 4x4 Diesel Colorado's near me.
:/
Also any 4.3 Vortec/S10 tips? Probably buying a 2003
Might be picking up this very soon
I have a 2003 s10 with the 4.3
Whatcha need to know
Make sure its not leaking oil from the intake plenum. The intake gaskets tend to go out on these trucks, wont be a bug issue assuming its taken care off. Test drive it, make sure it stays even at 180.
Unless the exauhst is changed the engine shouldnt make any noise besides a humm, they dont sound anything like V8s for being based off one.
These motors are pretty damn reliable, so its just a matter if its been properly taken care of.
Also if the truck struggles to start up that means the injectors could be fouled up but if i remember correctly they remedied this post 2001 with a different injector system. Something to keep in mind or for you to quickly look into.
How are the axels for offraod? I'm not trying to crawl or anything but I'm definitely wanting to go a bit off the path for some camping trips
Guy says he babied it, so we'll see.
Ah
Ahah
Because it's a "pickup" truck
>asking someone with a lowered truck on low-profile tires about offroading
>picked up a 2012 ram last year
>after barely a month had to replace the header gaskets
>a couple of weeks after that I got a flat, just a freak accident on the highway
>three months after that the blower motor went out
>had a bunch of minor shit to change after that
>now I'm up on 60k and my transmission is acting retarded
>the mds is making my engine throttle randomly for no reason
>I have to run the truck on tow/haul or set the gears myself for it run normally
>mileage is now down to around 12/18
>took it to the shop "it's running like it should"
Never again.
>memeboost
Whats best truck for offroading around $10k?
things that are not a wrangler
i would say a ZR2 s10 with mods such as lockers and skids
>speedo
My speedometer is off, so I just watch my speed on a Garmin GPS.
>tranny
Your towing capacity goes down, but that's about it.
1st gen Tacoma. The 4x4 and V6 will run you just under 10k
Anyone know what turbos the new ecoboosts use? I googled and it said K04, but I'm pretty sure that's wrong, K04s are tiny as fuck.
i always liked those twin headlight gmc trucks
>s10 better than a wrangler
hello delusions
wrangler is over rated
those zr2 are pretty good as long as they do not have BFG on them
... I actually didn't think of that
Fuck I'm smart
This just popped up, and its located right here in my municipiality, 15 minutes away... tempting
No S10 man. Maybe for a dedicated off roader a mid size pickup is ok. But for off road/DD/hauling get a full size pickup. More ground clearance , more bed/cab size, better traction in winter, better crash safety, and also dat v8.
which one has the crash safety? not the f150 thats for sure. toyota?
i guess it depends on the year range, I had older 80s and 90s in mind. Any full size truck is going to fare better in a crash then a small pickup. Being in an,s10,ranger,Cherokee is going to be much worse.
With a full size you are higher off the ground, have thicker doors and frame. Perhaps worse in a rollover though?
not sure about other makes but full size Chevys didn't have airbags till 95?
I have a 2003 ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi in it :) good trock. Replaced the heads bc faulty valve spring caused overheating but now it's at 180k and still strong
pics?
muh truck
Looking for a small-ish truck as a winter beater, needs to be super reliable and not overpriced.
Doesnt need to have a powerful engine.
Not too old either (90s+).
Size kinda like a Ranger.
Any good suggestions?
is that a 300?
the 300 is a great engine
my ranger has 4-5 star rating in every area except roll overs
Yes stars are great.
DAMN RIGHT YOU FUCKIN COMMIE
Just got a Dakota. Not bad except some rust and peeling paint. Otherwise it's all good.
Dodge RAM master race
>tfw you'll never own a brand new Tacoma
why live?
Wait, are you implying it's not a pickup truck?
Thank god. I've only heard good about tacos but I refuse to deal with the bullshit associated with a new vehicle. Especially the often exorbitant price tag that trucks tend to carry.
>tfw you'll never afford an entry level compact pickup
Lolwtf
Get a job retard, they're not that expensive
They're not approved or legal here due to Eurostan
Why would you want one?
The Colorado/Canyon are better
Even the Hilux is better than the Taco
kek
>own is now afford
>calling anyone else a retard when you can't read
If you aren't a construction worker or someone involved in the field of house repairs, scrap your truck you fake fuck
Is the ford ranger any good for offroad in 4x4 4.0L configuration? I would obviously purchase the necessary aftermarket offroad packages for it and install them. Seriously considering getting one.
Fuck off you can get pick ups in the UK as easily as you can buy a car, plus they are tax exempt on purchase as they are classed as utility vehicles like vans
>35k
You haven't looked at canyons yet have you?
The Tacoma isn't available where he lives. Are you seriously this damn stupid?
He can import it or drive a Hilux, its not banned.
Fuck you. Trucks make fantastic recreational vehicles.
Not everyone has to haul arbitrary 8'x4' building materials 6 days a week to qualify owning a truck.
Okay, so I scrap my truck. Now where do I store my fishing gear, hunting gear, fish/game I've taken, or in general move anything that won't fit in my coupe?
So do vans or large estates
Sorry mate, but we have different ideas of recreational activities.
Mine involve camping out in the wilderness, hauling motorcycles and gathering firewood
Your ideas seem to be hauling wife and three kids around.
Last week my family and I were eating dinner outside and some faggots in a lifted truck starts revving his loud as shit engine like a complete ass hat for literally 5 minutes. Then before the 2 white hicks left they blew their black diesel engine fumes for everyone to smell.
Ever since then fuck any faggot that has a lifted truck.
Is 390, is good engine.
