I think making him another Detective Prince hurt that deceptive normalcy factor that helped ground Adachi's more outlandish story beats and character traits.

Goro's all ready a colourful character from the outset, but it's spelled out on the cover that he's to join your party. Which would be fine, but he's not in the intro or any of the trailers so what gives? The guy generates more questions right away than out-and-out character traits, but I'll reserve judgement until after his full story is laid out for us to look at.

Suffice to say, if Atlus was trying to create another Adachi phenomenon with Goro, they went about it in an obnoxiously inelegant way.

In fact, one of the additions that Golden gave to the main game that sums up everything intriguing and horrific about Adachi is the Tier 3 Persona conversations you have with the IT where a lot of them tell you that while Adachi was an utter cunt they could very well end up just like him because he was that deceptively mundane, his situation so ordinary that they might follow his toxic path without even knowing it unless they always strive to be more and to never forsake the exhausting but ultimately beneficial bonds they have with other people.
