If I were you I'd make a team of Cecil/Kefka/Lenna/Celes/Amarant.

Amarant is tanky and has a good combo with draw attack/counter. Raise can always be useful.

Celes is good, not a wallbreaker, but Focus is nice to have especially since you have Kefka and works in tandem with Lenna's cheer.

It happens the vast majority of the time when you get a gold, though.

Not even joking here, but if you don't like that then you should play JP. Gold crystals only give out characters with a base 4* in that version.

Mages have been far and away my most common pulls. 3x Golbez 4x Kefka, Tellah, Exdeath, 2x Terra. There's some great units there but literally my only physical pulls have been CoD/Artemios/Thief.
