I know it's a stupid decision, it basically left me with zero defense against vampire bats. I made another stupid decision and refused to wear my chainmail before I knew it would be uncursed, and then death-ID revealed it to be +2 Multiplicity. And it took me too long to remember the diagonal wall dart trick for dealing with tough enemies when fighting weak ones in a corridor.

I didn't feel like making yet another Staff of Firebolt run, though, so it was still refreshing.

It's not so bad when you've got a runic weapon, especially Quietus. But you'll still need to rely on chargeable magic if you want to get away from tough situations.

I'm not telling you you don't like it, I'm telling you it's tired and kind of annoying by this point

a rod of iron (11/11) is no better than a rod of iron (6/6), but as soon as it hits 12 charges it's a big step up because that means you can zap it twice

although the (11/11) one will be easier to upgrade to 12 charges with ?recharge

There's no secret cabal that's suppressing non-crawlposting and corrupting roguelikes or whatever. Crawl is just easy to pick up, and doesn't make you feel bad when you die; it gets lots of players, so there's more people that post about it. Other roguelikes have less players, so less people post about it.
