Even better is Plutia's 70% single target heal and not standing close together.

In early game, I found that using healing herb while boosting VIT works fine.

Life rings are an accesoiry who's pretty much mandatory in the Rebirth games. It gives the character +1000 maxHP, and since most heal spells are percentage based, they make early game a breeze.

And yes, use a controller. It's turn based so not as horrible as Dark Souls, but still. Use a controller.
