Earlier today my team won an assfuckernation match on crimson by doing literally nothing, the timer ran out before any of the enemies could even get there from the start.

Jenner IICs have clantech but are bigger toilets with more defined hitboxes so they can die pretty quickly. However, they're pretty okay.

ISIS Sphere Jenners obviously don't have clantech and I don't see them used very much in game, but they're not awful. Wolfhounds and firestarters are better IMO despite wolfhound size increases.

Overqwerked spider-5k is the best IS light. For now. Besides that lolcusts are ok, very low investment and can be great to pad your invasion deck with.

How is there anything bad about set bonus quirks?

If a mech is definitely going to be very strong regardless of quirks, it is better to make it obey similar rules to regular battlemechs and have to come as a set in order to get the quirk bonuses.

Why do not they do the same to the "old" clan mechs?

like puting like 1% or 2% quirks on omnipods

Because nobody notices 2%. Anything below 7% is more or less insignificant.

Some mechs used to have pretty substantial set bonuses but they got lost along the way. Some of it merged a bit into their pod specific quirks and some just disappeared. No idea why.

Because omnimechs are already crippled in this game, if you disregard factors outside "is this a battle or omnimech?". Swapping omnipods as you please is basically the only advantage they have, and locking quirks into set bonunses fucks that up too.

Omnimechs are at the mercy of potluck and piggy's wild ride, basically half stock with locked engines, locked structure, locked armor, locked slots for structure and armor, random locked heatsinks, locked equipment like a gorillion tons of useless jumpjets on a few mechs.

How come PGI thinks this will fix the game?
