Car insurance for 19y/o

So I'm getting a car and have to insure it but
>19 years old
>parents won't add me to their insurance plan b/c they don't want to be financially responsible for me
My parents told me to insure on my own would cost $300 a month. Is that true?
What is the insurance option that will be the cheapest for me?
How much did you/do you pay when you were/are a "young driver"
Thanks Veeky Forums
(i live in Oregon if that helps)

Call a Geico, Allstate, or State Farm Rep and find out. It sounds very likely though. It will depend on the car.

This. Gotta have a general idea of what you want to buy or what you're driving first.

Trucks/4dr sedans/Suvs that were built 15+ years ago will probably cost the least to insure.

2008 Honda Civic

Make sure you check with a bunch of companies. Some will quote twice as much as another for the same coverage.

And I was thinking about making a thread on this... What coverage do you all have? Bare minimum with high deductibles?

generally you're gonna get fucked pretty hard till 25 then till about 30 they'll fuck you with a smaller cock before things start to be reasonably priced

that doesn't seem to be true around here. i've found there's a bit of a sweet spot 3-5 years old then anything newer and older starts going up. the part about trucks and SUVs is true tho, seems they are considered a bit safer and more importantly statistically have less at fault accidents so less lawsuits and such

i got liabilty for 78 a month when i was 19 300 bucks sounds like full coverage

My first car was a red 92 Chevy Lumnia. I paid roughly $200 a month at 18 years old. That was with progressive.

Try and see if there's any local insurance companies that will take you. I go through a local and have full coverage on two cars for $150 a month.

I'm 19, live in Florida, have Geico, drive a v8 Mustang, have two speeding tickets ( 18 over and 27 over ) and one accident and my car insurance is $140/month on my parents insurance with 100% coverage and a $500 deductible. Sucks for you bud.

If you dont plan on hooning see if you can get a discount by installing a blackbox.
Not sure about other insurers but State Farm also has a young driver safe driving class incentive.

>$300 a month

Sounds like bullshit to me. 24yo male no accidents, 1 speeding ticket 5 years ago. I pay $50 a month for minimum insurance on my '70 Beetle, adding my tacoma is another $35 a month.

Canadafag but when i was 17 i was paying $160 a month on a 1992 Nissan Maxima for PLPD, after a few months they dropped it to $140 then $120 after a year. 25 now and ive gotten a big discount, have a 3/4 ton Chevy with them for $60/month

place i have my RHD cars insured with its still $135 a month but i think i havent gotten discounts with them from speeding tickets, my girlfriend has been with them for her RHD and LHD car for way shorter than me and already got a discount lol

>on my parents insurance

lol, sucks to be a NEET

my insurance is $100 a month through USAA on my own. USAA is the best if you have any distant relative that is also a USAA member (and military related in some shape)

not necessarily, everything ive posted is for Alberta, my buddies girlfriend moved from Nova Scotia where photo radar count towards demerits. from a few photo radar tickets shes paying over $400/month for a base model Lancer until the slate gets wiped next year

I live in New Zealand, and am a 24 year old male.
It costs me $66NZD/mo for full coverage on a legacy GT and $49NZD/mo for a nb miata

Just gotta shop around.

>23
>1 accident, my fault
>1 speeding ticket
>driving for 2 1/2 years
>35$ a month insurance

b8

not bait.

Ticket is kind of irrelevant though since DA gave me improper equipment so it wouldn't count against me.

insurance is bullshit.
It shouldnt be mandatory and it shouldnt cost almost as much as the fucking rent.

>sucks to be a neet
no it doesn't you have all of the time in the world to do what ever you want and you don't waste 80% of your life being a slave

With a civic, you'd be lucky as hell to get a 300 a month payement for liability.

You are in the wonderful bracket where insurance companies will gouge the duck out of you and WILL look for any reason to raise your rates.
This isn't helped by your civic, which depending on the company will be labeled a sports car and the rate will go up.
>an insurance company tried to call my van a sports car to try and gouge me.

you know, some people enjoy their jobs

yeah, big surprise and all i can imagine

>19
>insurance

Get something cheap so you just don't care if it gets wrecked. Why are people so obsessed with living above their means nowadays?

How can anyone enjoy working? what do you do?

isn't it illegal to not have insurance?

i do events for weddings, christmas parties, business parties, and other events

at its worst it's tedious, at its best it's stupid fun. plus i work with a lot of cool motherfuckers who make the time spent even better

i literally get to make one special day for a lot of people that much better. it's a very feel-good type of work place

soon i'll be a motorsports engineer, but for now i'm very content

porn actor

I enjoy doing what ever i want and having no Schedule i just get extremely depressed when i have to work i could handle it for a little bit but soon it starts to drive me insane

>and no moneys because neet so free time wasted.

All the time in the world to do anything as long as it costs almost nothing

And most NEETs never even learn anything, because they're average fuckers despite their autism and need instruction, if that would even help due to a short attention span.

from personal experience, 10 year old truck costs more than 20 year old sedan land barge

LAOL 300 a month?

most people pay that a year

I get 700 neet bux and you can do all kinds of shit for free neet life is best life

nice meme

no way $300 a month. maybe $100
