What is mesh gear? Is it really much more breathable while still providing adequate protection?

>tfw i can't riding to work because tonight i drink with coworkers.

It is much more breathable but you do get rid of quite a bit of protection.

Its cheap gear, leather is king of abrasion protection and preferated leather is cool. Mesh shreds to bits at highway speeds.

Feel better and ride soon, user!

So are you referring to textiles in general, or mesh textiles specifically?

I get the feeling some people think they're the same thing. Which for all I know, they could be...

How much do you get a month?

Did some online chat with the BMV asking about what I need to do to buy a bike and ride it home and basically just told me to not get pulled over.
Why is everything so vague when it comes to this?

>America

Where can I buy Honda's factory MotoGP machine? I like the marque's history, but it seems this is the only good bike they build nowadays.

Seriously. I told them to just I've me a simple checklist or something regarding registration and insurance and it was almost like talking to a riddle master.

Are these jackets any good? It says "LeatherWorks" on the front but it certainly doesn't look like leather. Looks like some vented air mesh bullshit with padding in the forearms, elbows, back, and shoulders. Granted, it does feel heavy as fuck

It only has to survive one fall, then you're supposed to replace it

Dealer should be well versed in this, I'd take this as a red flag.

Really, they should be able to do all the paperwork for you, get the temp tags, etc. All you do is pay and sign on the dotted line.

Even if it's a private sale, there are only a few things that need to get done.

To drive off you need:
(Valid) Tags
Registration (temp tags should come with temp registration)
Insurance (depending on your state)

Hey guys

Dealerships have a direct line to the DMV/RMV and can title/register/plate your car on site.

The only other legal requirement is for you to have insurance.

So if you want to drive the bike home, you need to get the Make/Model, Year, Engine Displacement (CC), and VIN. Forward this information to your insurance company and have them set you up with a policy. They can put the policy "into effect" instantly so there is no lengthy wait period.

Now, here is where shit gets weird.

In states like Massachusetts, you need the insurance company to physically stamp the title/registration form. There are a handful of insurance companies that can stamp it electronically but I have LibertyMutual and they weren't able to stamp it electronically so I don't know who the fuck else would if literally one of the biggest providers in the country can't.

In this case, you have to take the form to the insurance company office and have them stamp it prior to the dealership being able to register the bike for you.

The dealership is right though. I would venture to say 90% of people just buy the fucking thing, slap their old bike plate on it, and ride it home.

$600 since I'm still a dependent on my parents. I prefer neetbux over minimum wage, it's $8 an hour here in NYC.

Also collecting food stamps $400 mo.

fuck off

>tfw new hampshire
>buy bike from dealership, no insurance required, drive off with temp plates

I am so jealous of New Hampshire. You faggots don't have sales tax either. It really is one of the cheapest places to buy a motorcycle

Oh I know. When I bought the fizzer I walked in with a fistful of dollars and rode off legally less than an hour later.

>600 disposable
>400 for food
I don't know how's the cost of living there, but here that's enough to get you out of misery

I don't live in NYC, I'm in Austin.
The rent here is nowhere near as bad as NYC but it's still $1000/mo for a decent single bedroom.

I make fuckin 250 euros a month

at least you have a nice seat

Mesh is great in city stop and go traffic, when you're hot but still want some protection. It's also good for slower rides near town...

should i buy a drz

true
that doesn't make up for everything tho, sadly.

Do uy liek meem baiks?

WHY DO YOU KEEP ASKING THIS

>get told by a guy that riding with my backpack on is dangerous...

Alright /dbt/, how many of you are risking your lives while riding? If not, how do you carry shit without saddle/tank bags?

I ride with a backpack, only way to transport my laptop

I get too hot with mine so I strap it to the backrest

just buy a hard case backpack if you're that scared.

I ride my Sportster as my DD. I have my backpack with me ALL of the time. How exactly is it dangerous to have a backpack?

reminder that honda a shit

Apparently the soft packs will snag on shit and cause you to tumble rather than just sliding.

What makes you say that

wtf I hate honda now

>tumble
>worse than sliding
If you're full leathers i guess

Tumbling increases your likelihood for broken/bruised limbs and joints, like the one your head is attached to your body with.

I got one of those trampoline mesh back panel bags a while ago, keeps me nice and cool on the bike. Highly recommend, check out the osprey radial series, intended for cyclists so you know it won't mess with motorcycle ergos too much. Pic related

I think the primary concern people have with backpacks is the straps catching something, either a moving pet on the bike or a static piece of environment like a street sign. Just keep your straps rolled tight/tucked, there are even products for keeping free ends of webbing from flopping everywhere.

Leather jacket and gloves, textile pants...

>cover head with hands
>roll to safety
Stop drop 'n roll nogga

I always walk past a dommie on my way to work. Now I want a dommie.

Should I buy a Dommie? A chopped up Dommie seems ideal for the hustle and bustle of a busy city.

reminder that honda is bestest!

Possibly get drenched in rain on way to work tomorrow
or
Sweat myself to death wearing rain suit in 20° weather for 40 minutes on city commute
?

Drink a lot of water and take your clothes with you in a plastic bag, just wear your rainsuit and then change at work

Seems reasonable but I'll still smell of sweat.

Yes, yes you just may.

No one ever said motorcycles would be convenient.

That's right.
Fuck it, my manly odeur will only attract more females and send them into a frenzy of lust, right?

No, bring deodorant and a towel or something bro

So I can ward them off with a makeshift flamethrower and the fact that I'm a fan of Douglas Adams?

STOP BULLYING ME

smoke some crack in the bathroom, order alcohol free beer. now u can ride :)

how the fuck is that going to protect you
you just have the hard backpack crushing into your spine.
are you fucking stupid.

decent backpacks like kriega have inserts for CE back protectors.

meme tier post

faster to put on a mesh jacket than to strap on individual backprotector, shoulder and elbow gear.
the air flows right through it... I used a mesh jacket when commuting in 100 degree weather with 80% humidity.

its kinda like fishnet stockings if you ever wear those.

...

It depends what product you are talking about but, mesh it's self provides very little to no abrasion resistance.
If it's entirely mesh then it will only provide impact protection, granted that it has armour.
You want abrasion protection if you are going to be riding hard.

it's not like it doesn't have inserts for back protectors but keep being mad

Good for casual riding. You're meant to slide more on the armor bits than the mesh itself but even the mesh will work just fine in sub 40-50mph accidents.

If you are going on the highway or doing some kind of track racing where there is a real possibility of you sliding at high speeds, then leather is king
