I'm in the market for a cheap rallyX car and I'd like to enter the RWD class. Would a Beetle or Baja Bug be a good choice?

They're cheap, abundant, easy to work on, have a huge aftermarket (including off-road), lightweight, and have the weight over the drive wheels for better traction. It's also pre-smog, which is a big advantage here in California. So the potential is endless.

Alternatively, I've also been keeping an eye out for the following:
MR2
Mustang
E30
E36
RX-7
944

And even these honorable mentions:
AE86
Celica
240SX
300ZX
Starion
Fiero

The list of cars mentioned above may perform better than the Beetle stock to stock. However, they're not as easy to work on, most of them don't have as large of an aftermarket (especially for off-road), and need to be smogged.

I'm not considering the Miata because it'd require an expensive hardtop to compete. I've also owned one before and I'm done with them now.

So is a Bug the answer?

A beetle is actually a pretty good choice. A couple race in my region, and a (gutted, but nearly stock) superbeetle won the Midwest SCCA Nationals last year in Modified Rear.

There was a really nice one at one i did. He definitely was being nice to it and just having fun, but it was a gorgeous car.

Dont forget old volvos. Anything 2xx 7xx or 9xx will get sideways

>He needs power oversteer to have fun
>He thinks rallycross isn't fun without it

Stop the b8 and stop shitposting

It's not shitposting if it's true. RWD a slow

Ha. You messed up

Oh boy.

I think mustang is best choise

pls don't add to the tax on 240sx's

damn, the rwd cuckboi got triggered hard

...

Stop posting the b8 pic and post the real one. You're just as bad as the shitposter if not worse because you're serious

Ok, here's the real pic.

What is your problem

get a fwd car, they are faster at rallying

>b-but rwd fun

being slow isn't fun

yeah im done responding to you. You don't care about cars.

Pick one.

Why the fuck are Americans so attracted to Japanese meme cars?
Out of the ones you listed, the E30 and E36 BMW would be the best choice. Mercedes W201 is a good choice too.

A good option is whatever the Ford Sierra is called in the US.
Mercury something or other.
Swap the stupid V6 motor for the 2.0L I4 OHC from the Pinto. Lots of tuning options - at least in Europe.

Or an Alfa Romeo. You can get a 2000 Berlina for like $3000. They make 130hp stock. With an exhaust, a pair of fast road/rally cams, an air filter, and a good exhaust system you're looking at 180hp
They also come with four wheel discs, four link suspension, 5 speed gearbox and limited slip differential as standard.

Are you fucking stupid?
>parts are more expensive
>mechanics are more expensive
>tuning shops are more expensive
>some of those cars are rare as hell

>mechanics are more expensive
>tuning shops are more expensive
If you have money for tuning shops and mechanics you have money for everything else.
>some of those cars are rare as hell
Which ones?

>parts are more expensive
Compared to what?

wow this post is gibberish i don't even know what you were trying to say with the first half

Mechanics and tuning shops will always be your biggest expense.

If you an afford to pay them, you can afford "expensive" parts.

You should look at the regulations and the level of competition in the class. A beetle is going to need a lot of modifications to keep up with any of those other cars. Initial purchase might be cheap but changing every part of the car isn't, and then you might be in a different class to most competitors and end up racing against three people.

Half the cars you listed don't exist in the US you stupid eurofaggot

What is this logic

No

German parts aren't expensive. German engineering labor, IS

How would a W201 or a rare, expensive Alfa be better than a Baja Bug?

A Beetle may not be as good at the start but it has more potential. And I'm looking for a long term project.

bmw 318TI bro!

Hell yeah! That's actually on my watch list. Cheap and light. Like an E30 and E36 mix... at least suspension-wise. Unfortunately there's no good examples for sale near me at the moment.

Why Mustang?

That'd be an interesting choice. There's plenty of cheap SN95 V6 near me.

>How would a W201 or a rare, expensive Alfa be better than a Baja Bug?

The Alfa neither rare nor expensive.

The W210 is a lot like the E30. Except better.

>Half the cars you listed don't exist in the US you stupid eurofaggot
You're wrong. All of them exist.

>merkur xr4ti

Yeah, that one.
And the later 2nd gen sedan was apparently called the Scorpio.

How about this? I already talked him down to $1500. He claims it only needs a battery so I'd take one with me for a test drive.
