I'm past 850 ilvl, I've been doing all the endgame toptier content available until raids and mythic+ became available. Now item level is just a matter of who knows the most people rather than who has the most time or ability.

So you haven't met any groups of people in that time of doing mythics? I guess since I have a core group of friends I don't have the problem you're facing. What server are you on? High pop?

I got into a decent group made up of different people that never played with each other before and the run went well so we did another dungeon after that and then one guy left the group and everyone else followed.

The level of sociability and communication in almost every mythic dungeon group I got into was comparable to that of groups I get into through using the dungeon finder for heroic dungeons, a level barely above "any at all".

i did not know who 70% of the cast were and it didn't tell me who they were
whereas MoP had unique gameplay encounters in the Jade Forest, WoD was all the same stuff I've done before
and the first thing they had me do when i was done with that was make a garrison, and i've countlessly heard that garrisons are shit for many reasons
i didn't even get to design the garrison, i just chopped some wood

You can start herbing immediately for rare herbs however it's based off the rank system each of the first legion herbs you get you get a chance to get an item for a quest to get the first tiers of this gather method.

Otherwise yeah you can herb straight from 1 to 800 in legion without any prior training in it.
JC still has it's uses for the highest tiers of gear and for the talent reset scroll.
