All we respectable, mature people can say is, we’re sorry. I play OW and other games with my sisters all the time, and they certainly share your discomfort and are hesitant to use voice chat for exactly the same reasons. It’s totally understandable, and it’s a shame it diminishes the enjoyment of the game for so many people.
I’ve actually considered taking the time and making the monetary investment to start a clan/guild/group, whatever you want to call it, specifically geared toward “non-idiots” just to try and create a community where this dumb behaviour doesn’t happen. Obviously other people have done the same and they exist already, but having been in gaming clans before I know there is a certain stigma attached to them, and a lot of times people just don’t want to deal with the pressure and intensity they often create.
Who knows, maybe after Blizzard creates a solo-queue they’ll create a High Society queue where “gamers with class” can play. Kind of like the 21st century version of the Victorian era coffee shop/salon. A man can dream, right?

Why not keep going? You can't lose your diamond rank and you'e already secured your rewards for reaching diamond. Your SR will also slowly drop if you don't play comp for 2 weeks until it reaches 3000.
