Well yeah but even when you have a follower, the follower won't go questing on his own or the game won't be in the same state it was when you stopped playing him, if he was your first character. I'll admit its fun though.

Vampire barbarian. Would just go around clubbing people to death and drinking their still warm blood, or vampirizing groups of people to serve as his expendable goons. There's a mod by the same author that does something like that. It adds a bunch of random NPCs going around adventuring. I haven't tried it myself but it seems pretty neat

If I recall it was made by the same guy who did Wyrmstooth, so it was taken down when he quit modding.

I actually tried it out. It does what it says on the tin and does spawn groups of adventurers and dragonborns of all different races. They end up going into random caves and dungeons running through them and do kill whatever is in there, but they get held back by locked doors and their AI and just idle everywhere until it opens somehow or they teleport behind the door because NPC pathing . The Notice Board probably does it better since you can actually join up with the party NPCs who are actually at the notice board doing jobs. I remember meeting a party with a purple cat and an argonian that went into a falmer cave that had the dunmer 3DNPC that talked about cutting off cocks a lot.
