Honestly, this. A lot of people say DeSu2 had shit characters but I just flat out disagree. The only good characters in DeSu are Atsuro and Amane. Kaito, Naoya, Yuzu, Atsuro's teacher, the shitty CDF woman and Midori were all just awful.

Meanwhile DeSu2 has Bunny who at least has the chance to have a personality unlike Abel, Joe, Daichi, Fumi, Keita, Anguished one and Makoto. The only really shitty ones are Io, Hinoka, Ronaldo and Yamato. And I'd argue Yamato and Ronaldo were at least a nice change of pace from your average Chaos/Law route. Gameplay is better, balance is better. The bonus route shits on the 8th days which ruin some of DeSu's endings. DeSu2 is pretty much the superior game in every aspect except for Atmosphere.

Because thats how anime format rolls. Besides Triangulum arc was close enough to drama levels of anime.

what were the major QOL/gameplay changes from Devil Survivor to DeSu2?

Honestly I loved the framework of DeSu far more than DeSu2, which just felt like an expansion pack rather than the spectacle that was SMT in a SRPG. In terms of story, I actually felt that the first game had a tension and an atmosphere, even though the second game involved more companions and their deaths were a built in function to the story. The scope of the first game felt huge, but DeSu2 really felt as if there were no characters besides the NPCs you could potentially have on your team. The first game had characters that all had their own individual motivation for doing things, and the stress that grew over the seven days under lockdown really effected the game.

Strangely enough, the scale of the ending (that I chose, at least) of DeSu2, creating a whole new world, felt a bit hollow compared to the simple pleasure in destroying the server in DeSu1.

I loved both games but I can't help but think DeSu1 is far better.

I started playing SMT4 as my first SMT and I'm stuck at King Kenji's battle. This motherfucker OHKO my ENTIRE TEAM in one hit.
I'm running a magical MC, at level 65 with all -dynes a Megidola +8, with a Titania, Sphinx, Sraosha with the same things. My demons are around level 70, and my MC is at 65.
