There is a jungling knife and a jungling orb. Both of those build into different items that change how your smite works.
One makes your smite have a slowing effect on players, the other makes you deal bonus damage to players after you smite them. The 3rd item they can build into gives you a ward to place, kind of like wriggles.

After you have your upgraded smite item, you can put an enchantment into it (after buying the items required) Yellow gives you the old Madred's Bloodrazor effect. Green gives you a Sunfire effect. Blue gives you a Luden's Echo effect. (You probably haven't seen this item either, but you can look it up sometime.) Red is kind of like youmuu's but without the armor pen and active.

Its a little weird at first, but its not too complicated.
