70's Japanese Coupes

Hey Veeky Forums, recently started to get into 70's Japanese coupes like pic related ('78 Corolla Sport Coupe). There was an user yesterday who posted a modified 70's Mazda RX3 that made me erect.

Can y'all share some other cars that look like these?

OP here...pic related is the RX3 I was talking about. These resto-mod coupes are so good looking.

70s long bonnet + fastback styling?

Have a 1st gen Celiva

>tfw no brutal looking rx3

Is it just me, or does the RX-3 look ugly compared to its contemporaries?

It is just you

They do look ugly and they're only popular because they're incredibly light and are easy to fit modern wankels into.

Welp, alright I'll sit in the corner then

Now.this is beauty in vblu physical form

Does the Torana count considering Japan built those little sports coupes to compete with them at bathurst?

Love how that one is just the right balance of stock and tasteful period mods. I'd say the 240Z is the most beautiful sports car out of Japan

Came here to recommend this.

Don't buy one though. They're mine.

Guy Was selling this to me but backed out yesterday :(

Don't worry, friend, too far away to steal from your market

There's actually 2 TA22 coupés around here being sold off as barn-finds, going for about ~3.5k US. Wish I had money and an enclosed garage...

How much was he asking for it? Are you in a RHD country or was it a Jap import?

AUD$10500 got it down to $8800 and he was going to send a new clutch and fix the unijoints

Damn son, looks pretty tidy with light mods too. Not enough money or was there something up with it?

Pretty sure he had spent about 4 years rebuilding and felt that he couldn't part way with it. Maybe 2 years ago a person was selling two RA28's for $5000 but i never bought them and I regret it so much now

Ah I see, yeah I can imagine.

I wish we had such a selection here in NZ, but it seems that there's only a whole heap of poorly modified 80s and 90s Jap cars for sale. Can't imagine it'd be too different over there though

Would love a rotary coupe.

my ra21, 18rg, ae86 suspension.

Also about to do a miata driveline swap in my buddies ra22

Why are these so rare in Europe

Japanese coupes you say?

...

Why can I never find a normal condition 240z?

There seem to be two kinds being sold. Total nut and bolt Restoration show conditions that cost the earth or rusty shell "barn finds".

Where are the 240z that are just tired looking and have not been restored?

because they're for weeb rednecks and boomers

Getting tough to find, took me months of searching

Right there with you buddy.

Have my 74' 260z.

whats the thing called on its rear window

Louvers.

A million angry bees

What happened to all the old Datsuns? I remember seeing them in the 90s and suddenly they all vanished.

A large number of them got chopped up and run to death on dragstrips.

Pronounced "LOO-vers"

Obligatory Skyline. Funny how no one really cares about non-GTR ones.

In Europe? I guess I have to believe it. I was talking about econobox Datsuns, not Zs mind you.

Celica wasnt the only one to have a Mustang-esque rear end.

So was I. There were a lot of people cramming v8's into econo boxes in the mid to late 90's, or at least using them as shells.

Plus a lot of people ran them into the dirt and scrapped them.

>tfw no multi-rotor dorito missile.

so fucking beautiful, i hate that so many of them have been destroyed by ricerfags putting on bolt-on body kits and disgusting fender flairs

tfw your mom's first car was a 1st gen Celica, 5 speed manual. It was built out of all junkyard parts too

>coughs

oh look more user's with datsuns

My favorite skyline GT-R.

>tfw no TE27

Wow, it looks even fatter than the new one.

Look for an old game called Sega GT. It was on the dreamcast. Or its sequel Sega GT 2002, or Sega GT Online. You will like the car list I think.

Just picked up a 74 Corolla SR5, probably wont restore it for a while but I couldn't not buy it.

Nah

Smaller wheels would have looked better,

Nigga what

1969-73

lol what

With the headlights up.

i am sorry but i see no resemblance.
hood is a lot longer, car is much more curvy, there is no back window....just a rear windsheild

the whole profile is totally different

if anything the iso grifo looks more similar to a Montreal

shut the FUCK up

I like Japan.

Any interior pictures?

Natural attrition. You don't see a large number of many old cars on the road.

Leno's Mazda Rotary Cosmo

i like japan but i would not want to live there

I worked there for a little over a month, and I'd love to visit again but I would never want to have to live there.

No love here for the FB RX-7 ?

forgot pic

Anyone else share my love for this car?

A true Honda fan loves all ’ludes.

>his dream car is FWD

Are you fucking kidding me?

youtube.com/watch?v=jkmf6t8Myv8

I want to buy a 70s Prelude and modify it to hell.

Its hard not to like this Nissan.

FB is prettiest RX7. I love 80s and 90s cars, but I gotta admit the 70s has designs that are wholly unique and you cannot find any other cars that look quite like it.
