How does the preorder-DLC stuff work with a digital version? It's not available for preorder on the PSN (yet). Is this something that's going to be included if you buy it shortly after release, or is it only included with the physical versions?

Voice acting didn't kill JRPGs since those aren't anything like the traditional RPGs they're based on in the first place. It's a fine thing for JRPGs or DRPGs to have voice acting.

I don't believe I've ever seen a Vita game offer a digital pre-order.

That said, usually if there are first print bonuses they will set it so that the bonuses will be added to your download list automatically after buying the game within a certain time limit (initial two weeks of release, etc).

But that's a "first print" vs. "pre-order" distinction and the publisher is the one that would have to clarify how they're handling it.

When in doubt, pre-order your physical.

There's not much to talk about in that gen but new hacks, and there aren't many exciting new hacks for the 3DS. The only thing on the horizon is DS piracy without a flashcart.

You are forgetting that there is no cfw for the vita and no fireware spoofing.

I'm talking about the possibilities of expanding player-driven choice through dialogue and an open-ended structure that becomes impossible to pull off properly once you account for the costs of voicing all that shit. And I'm not explicitly talking about JRPGs or WRPGs, since they both had that drive to offer as much interaction and consequence as possible long before voice acting actually became a thing.

This might just be my autism, but in most RPGs when I'm controlling a character instead of a voiceless puppet the dichotomy between story events and gameplay events grows larger somehow and rubs me off in a pretty bad way.

For example, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Bon Appetit and its Gessen x Hebijo DLC.
But I also pirate.
Thing is, I dislike buying digital games, but I do it very rarely for games that I feel are still justified.
But, because of this disliking that I have, I rather pirate games. They are digital then anyway. So it's not much of a difference.
Games that can be bought physical are what I don't pirate but buy instead.
Which I dump for others afterwards.
