Man. Maaaaaan! Fuck. I feel like Star Engine will be used for a lot of indie games in the future. People really need to take advantage of the planet building tech.

I know. If they pull this off right planets will be a dark horse hit for me. I was not expecting to get hyped for landlubber stuff.

Goddamn so smooth, and that's without their head stabilization shit.

According to Brian Chambers, trees are destructible, also. Pretty much like in Crysis.
Jason Sanchez
>trees are destructible
fuck off do they even want this game to run?
Adam Davis
It won't render shit that's not in your field of vision, so it'll run fine.

Help guys....im being overcome with vision. I dont know how much longer i can resist a horizons purchase.

Interesting.
Zachary Perry
Reclaimer, carrack, Orion.
Noah Green
Yeah. Some other movies lost a lot of money, but his company ended up in the black overall and producers get a share of profits, but don't necessarily take a huge personal hit on losses. He spent like a million dollars of his own money to make the GDC demo to pitch the game. This is why it's retarded when people accuse him and his wife of using "backer money" for everything from the coffee machine in his office to plastic sliding doors to his personal vehicles and house in CA.
Henry Cox
>his personal vehicles and house in CA. ...stuff he had before the kickstarter. the big controversy about the LA office was that he moved it there just because that's where he lives

Liam Watson
How dare he open a studio near where the CEO lives, and near where there's a lot of game development talent. Game would be much better off without Mark Abent, amirite fellas?
Jeremiah Reed
that he made like half of their development team at the time move to him from Austin, and that more than one team lead quit rather than relocate halfway across the country.
Evan Moore
Wow, you're right, this is a scandal. I really thought slavery was illegal nowadays, but Chris Roberts made a bunch of people move. Unbelievable.
Josiah Martinez
I still don't see the issue there. Just as an example, RT moved to a new building from one city in Texas to another and a lot of people relocated because of that
Oliver Gomez
That's just a normal part of business, user. When Croberts does it though, it shows he's running a big scam that will never - ever - deliver.
Jace Smith
>being this much of a drone I'm not even bothered by it but surely you can see why this would be a little controversial.
moving offices in one city isn't really a big deal, I think they've actually done so in LA twice now. moving to the other side of the country and making a bunch of people pick up and follow is a bit bigger deal. Wingman is in his current pitiful position because he refused to pull his kids out of school and move his whole family to another state. He wasn't the only one
Daniel Green
>tier 2 starter >best nah nigga lemme fix dat
Jose Murphy
but come hang out guys i'll show you so much cool stuff, surely you remember how we used to share so many good times

>In one city
I said from one city to another, not just one city. Texas is a big state. Some people had their commute go from half an hour to 2 hours plus in my example, so they moved.
Elijah Sanders
yeah, I misread. who is RT? roosterteeth? aren't they like five people? they don't even make games.
Christopher Cruz
>space whale >best
Dominic Perez
>Aren't they like five people
Try about 200 plus now. Doesn't matter if they don't make video games. I used them as an example because on their podcasts (the only thing good they produce any more) they discuss what their company does a lot in more detail.

realistically wouldn't running a Bebop type operation where you have a team to catch/kill bounties and split the profits be more viable than trying to take every target on equal terms and losing half the time?
Adam Price
yeah but this is video gaming where most people don't want to speak

ive had this feel in a few games but its hard as fuck to find mainly because people are too autistic a lot of the time. Its so comfy when you log in hop on coms and just start shooting the shit.

Wait, what the fuck? So that greentext about panning up from a rock and being in a lush forest turned out to be an accurate prediction?

I'm trying really really fucking hard not to get hyped but this shit is wearing me down. If they show off this stuff and it looks good i'm going to have a meltdown.

Is this an old picture? It looks so small. I wish they hadn't tried to squeeze us into sardine cans early in development. It screwed them over and now they have to remake everything.

the concept artist just didn't quite know the scale and made a guess. there are many early examples of ship sizes being way off in official art.
Charles Barnes
Terrapin
Bentley Davis
>another ship with a bunch of shit fucking turrets on it
just a single drone ship or snub carrier for the love of fuck please
Jayden Morris
So how would you captain a ship?
I been thinking about it. If I were captain i'd run the ship, delegate duties and go on adventures but i'd hire a designated pilot, co-pilot etc. Maybe try and recreate the Star Trek bridge team like on a Starfarer and use a similar ranking system like order of command goes down from me, second in command, pilot, co-pilot etc.
Also color coordinated uniforms and if we are allowed it a symbol for them.
Autistic? Yes but I dig it.
I've also considered how i'd setup player governments and military on planets, set up settlements, cities etc and a system that uses greycats, ursas, dragonflies and argos as local vehicles as well as ways to run a player economy using in-game methods like mining (the planet or local asteroid belt) player owned factories to produce certain products (assuming we even get that but chris mentioned it so it's a consideration.) The most obvious way to set up a government would be to start small with close knit group, build up resources, settle a planet and invite weaker, newer players to settle on it as a refugee of sorts. This way you can lord over the newer and weaker players, give them a chance to try out mining, farming, being a cop, joining your military etc all while you and your close knit org run things from the top.
Still trying to figure out a good government model.
Benjamin Harris
Now it looks like fucking ugly penguin.
Hudson Brooks
I imagined the captains chair as a root user for the ship. He can do everything anyone else can do at a terminal from his seat; so if someone needs to leave a terminal to repair a power coupling the captain can take over the shield/power balancing duties or even pilot duties.
Eli Collins
Have a few trustworthy and responsible crew members I can fuck and let tasks divide themselves.
Blake Hughes
get a couple of friends together and fuck around?
Noah Reyes
>Drones B-but that doesn't sound like something a World War II era ship would have at all!
Nathan Gutierrez
g-guiz im making a ghettofied version should I do left click left hand right click right hand or left click attack button right click contextual alternate.
David Roberts
What?
Bentley Edwards
What.
Levi Richardson
Probably just get a couple of npcs. Assign one to shield/power and the other to any rear turret the ship has. While I handle everything else.
Granted I don't know what multicrew ship I'd even end up with at this point if the new speed system sticks around. My previous plan was just stick with a Cutlass Blue, but the cutlass is going back to 'worst qualities of a light ship and the worst aspects of a medium ship combined' status.
Brandon Cooper
Do you want wielding 1handed items in each hand to both attack with left click or should they be linked by handedness to their respective mouse buttons?
Nathaniel Walker
two independent weapons in a space game? hard to think of a good use of that
Landon Kelly
are you making a game or something?
Alexander Torres
I am seeing what the general thinks of both the systems.
It'd suprise you but its also more cumbersome in alot of ways with single click you can just have the character attack and is less cumbersome.
Yes.
Elijah Ross
A dual wielding system has to be done right or it just feels janky, So if you guys would want to see that I'd have to go all in on it.
>hence me asking Publically.
Brody Rivera
woah derped out there for a secon, [ BUT it is less robust since you don't have a single attack button but some contextual buttons**
Matthew Williams
It depends on your handedness. It's more natural to click the mouse with your index finger, and so most would say your character's right hand is effected by the left mouse button and vice versa. But there's also the larger trend in video games that the left mouse button aligns with the left hand and the right mouse button aligns with the right. Once trained in the latter way, the former feels somewhat wrong, but mapping the button of the hand you use the most to the button that's most clicked makes sense.
Jace Turner
Independent control generally feels better to me and allows the choice of staggering your attacks for prolonged bursts or to unload with both when you need to kill fast.
Thanks for the Input yall I will go with the Dual wield system instead of traditional fps style.
It is indeed a space game, No none of you have ever heard of it shoe string budget team of less than 5.
Adrian Mitchell
Why are you adding in dual wielding into a space game?
Elijah Reyes
If you're going to have melee, which feels better with that disconnect, I'd tell you to go make an energy shield that blocks damage up to a point of overload to make it more viable. And when you have a rifle that has to be held in two hands, bind the shoot button to the left mouse button. Of course, make sure you have the keys be rebindable as soon as possible, you don't want to accidentally screw someone over who, for one reason or another, can't properly use the default scheme.
