Urban traffic.
so you admit it? FWD performance is fake?
Don't shit up this thread with your predictable, overused memes. Not everybody wants to drive a manual corolla with a V8 engine and rear wheel drive.

Finns actually made a commercial about their dicks hanging out? I am truly impressed.
oh man why did digital dashes never stay around.
This commercial must have been so expensive to make back then
this is why gm went bankrupt
jesus christ
Just a little break from the trolling and shitposting in this thread, here is something actually on topic. It stars Carroll Shelby and Chrysler.

Your probably not old enough to even know what the tempo/topaz looks like, more or less have any experience with any of their faults.

That's nice. I don't think Toyota has done any commercial like that stateside. Or if they have I haven't seen it.
Old fag, here. My father owned a 1982 Ford Escort 4 Door Hatchback.
Behold the splendor.

I can't find it so maybe I'm imagining things, but didn't BMW have a commercial either in the 90's or 2000s that displayed a welder welding the hood shut and shrilling the low maintenance of their cars?
...
Bonnevilles are great though. Best thing produced under the Pontiac brand.
And GM fucking killed them
Well, the alternative was Chevy (Daewoo) Aveos with Pontiac badges on them, so think of it as a good thing. The brand went out with the G8, one of its best products in years, and died with dignity.
I see your point since the last Oldsmobile models were the Alero and those stinking Silhouettes and Bravadas.
Somebody post that Twingo commercial filled with honhon, Twingooo and wat. You know the one I'm talking about.
1987 Hyundai Pony
They were really cheap for it' day. My parents neighbor had 2 of them parked in his drive way. Within a year only one actually ran. I shit you not. The car was a lemon.

I remember those junk piles. Hyundai/Kia have come a LOONG way since those throwaway cars.
1986 Ford Taurus
THE FUTURE IS HEEEEEEEEEERE!

qhat are you talking about, user, we still have those :^)

When I was a kid I had a thing for the Sable. I tought it was cool that the grill light-up. Only Mercury did that on their cars.
i qq'd a bit :(
I like to think it will come back some day. GM clearly misses it, and I wouldnt be surprised, if when the conditions are ripe for it, they revive the brand.
But definitely not today. Pontiac couldnt work today. theres no demand for good cars, or "excitement". people want cuckmobiles and 'safe" suvs

Wish me luck lads
Good Luck user. In my area they are around but they are usually beaten up basketcases.
I love this one
wow, didn't know top gear spoofed this

I wanted one as my first car about 10 years ago, and even then, it was hard to find a good one. They've all been crashed or molested or shit upon and need tons of rehab.
Your best bet these days is a C4 Vette. Dirt cheap right now and they are often taken better care of. I've seen early 90s Vettes with the LT1 going for 4-5k. They're faster anyway.
I'm in the bay area, where were you? Most of the stuff I see on craigslisf is pretty questionable.
Yeah, what's the insurance like on of those vs a firebird for, say, a 20 year old?

ITT:
Old, dated and bogus claims that sold cars.
You got to admit that these old commercials are more entertaining and better executed than most movies nowadays.
Predicting the i8?
No one knows how to sell cars anymore. Seriously.
I watch a lot of television. Each commercial for a car is worse than the last. Especially at GM. If you think these cheesy old ads are nuts, watch some GM or Nissan commercials of today and then scratch your head while you try and figure out who exactly they're marketing this shit toward. Its crazy.
Oh....well yeah that's gonna be terrible. By the time you get to 25 and insurance costs go down for you, the prices on C4's and F Bodies will have gone up again too. A well maintained third gen is like a unicorn but rarer.
I suggest, and I don't know what kind of person you are, a Buick Regal GS/Pontiac Grand Prix GTP from the late 90s/early 00s. Sleeeeeeeper is the way to go as far as keeping insurance costs down. And the supercharger goes woooooooo...
Well it's not like commercials today are any better.
> latest Toyota ads showing prius drifting
Etc.
Good advice. As for what kind of person I am, at least regarding Veeky Forums, I'm really looking for an older car, something I can work on a bit and still have fun with. I especially like retro stuff, like this thread, pop up lights, aggressive wedge shaped styling, digital dashboards, cassette players...
Right now I'm considering the 240sx, fiero, third gen f bodies, stuff like that.
But I have to say I like the looks of the 90s Pontiacs. Great for a night drive in the twisties.
A 90s Bonneville SSEi with the Supercharged 3800 might be a good fit. You can get all of that 1990s Pontiac styling in a fast, comfy sedan. Nice digital dashes too.
