This clutter makes our OP look bad.

I love you.

REMINDER!

You should be nice and respectful to your fellow devs!

No toxic language! No problematic topics! Always ask for permission before criticising somebody!

Remember: If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything.

>If you have no game, don't say anything.
Fixed that for you Donald.

What if there was a thread with a less cluttered OP?

>No problematic topics
gtfo, YouTube

Rough test of a new bossfight. It's going to be a spider, so I need some good spiderweb-based patterns.

Who are the most successful non-nodevs on AGDG?

Well, it keeps these type of people:
>what program blah blah
>where can I get sounds blah blah
>what engine do you guys use blah blah
>where can I get blah blah
at bay

please change your spider boss design, its head makes me too uncomfortable

I didn't know we had KLK fan games

Game Name: God is a Cube: Nanomachines Rising
Dev Name: King Kadelfek
Tools Used: Unity 3D
Website(s): godisacube.com
Progress:
+ working on the Level Editor
+ new way to show how information Runes are connected to each other
+ corrected a 3 Mb memory leak on each level loading

Reminder that if you've never fired a machine gun you are LITERALLY a nodev and LITERALLY need to leave this thread.

It hasn't seemed to improve thread quality by much.

Who /also learning blender here/ ?

>learning by making simple objects instead of anime girls
Good lad

I wish people wouldn't do flamewars because of my placeholder art, and dev instead.
Sorry about that.

Can't we just fucking kill all nodevs already? Why do they get to exist?

that turn animation made me cum

It happens every time someone randomly defends a dev who wasn't even getting bullied.

Make some Mario fire bars

don't mind the nodevs. that monolith guy will understand it some day

am i a dev if my gamemaker game has pixel perfect collision and half done camera?
I'm sketching my game on paper as well.

I don't know. We have enough high powered rifles to do it.

Nodevs are morons who don't understand placeholder art.
They think everything has to look AAA-worthy from the get-go, otherwise they feel the need to point it out at every chance they get.

(no I won't)

Reposting in actual thread,

Maybe have those small bullets have strings between them, so it looks like a web?
I don't know if the string should deal damage too though, and it it doesn't deal damage it might be misleading to the player.
or the string could just slow movement.

it actually happens every time a nodev shits on a dev

Progress:
+ going to greenlight because fuck it
- game is way more linear than it should be

loving the art user

progress, lads!!

The UI is kind of all over the place.

Maybe make the background have several layers of stars which scroll at different speeds, it looks like a wall when they're all the same.

your loss

Why go for a gameboy aesthetic if you're going to let the pixels move off-grid? Have them snap to the pixel grid.

Other than that, looks pretty standard, although boring. Maybe make it speed up as time goes on?

Those shipping containers placement is dumb, how would a crane even get to them? Dont cranes lift shit?

I know this is a meme but I don't mind the 2006-era sourcemod aesthetic, at all

(nah)

I don't think you should post anymore

I need some more UI inspiration, what are games with perfect UI?

@155844085
(You)

Maybe they are part of structure and were placed while whole thing was built.

Mirror's Edge

mario and luigi is the only game posted there with a good UI

Feedback on animation was coming from an actual dev so not really, the defenders are the real offenders here.
My current art seems to be in a strange valley between shit and good art which confuses people.

diablo 2

Where is Recap Guy?

shitty memes don't excuse poor dev attitude.

strawpoll.me/11310246/

For what kind of game?

of course they do. where do you think you are?

just posted my lewd jam entry
also my first "game" I've actually released
its got a dragon in it so the squeamish should avoid

I bet its full of bugs, and its definitely full of programmer art and sloppy UI, but I just wanted to get it done so I can work on other stuff

itch.io/jam/lewd-jam-2016/rate/87544

rip it apart

I just want some general inspiration for any genre.
roguelike

Is this from a set?

It's hard to give UI advice for a roguelike without knowing about it, they range in complexity & type of important information massively.

...

It's from the artist that worked on TowerFall. He does have a couple others on his twitter.

Game Name: Locked Masts
Dev Name: IceDev
Tools Used: Unreal, various
Website(s): N/A
Progress:
+Some asset development
+Some menu logic
+Character model work
-Character model work is painful
-Other work getting in the way

Really people, whats the best engine to use considering commercial use? Unity seems pretty goood considering I can actually export for free and only deal with a splash screen. Game maker seems fucking expensive for mobile.

Fucking kill yourself, man.

I'm in the same boat. Just looking at it I can tell this is too much UI, but I'm not sure what I can cut either

Maybe I should move the store back into a modal and just make it more obvious when somebody can afford something

a stealth game where you play as a loli and lure pedos into traps

Isn't that the opposite of a stealth game

PROGRESS

I'm working on my Level Editor (pic related). There are still a lot of work to be done, but most of the functions are working. The Level Editor will be 100% ingame, and you will be able to switch from the current level to the Editor with just one click.
I wanted to give the editor more of a sandbox aspect, where you will be free to test all the runes you want. I hope it will open new paths for the players who want to experiment what the nanomachines are able to do.

The complete version of the Level Editor will also allow players to create their own Constellations (level packs) with tags to search for. It will also be possible to specify the difficulty of the levels, as well as rating them, in order to have more levels for all kind of players.

>best
That's your problem, there is no best, you have to choose the engine that you personally like. If there were one best engine then that would be the only engine that exists.

>> Constellations (level packs)
>Thing in your game has an instantly recognizable word for it
>make up your own word for flavor reasons
Do less of this, please. It just makes your game harder to understand and talk about

How is your game doing besides deving itself? Last time I heard about it was added to greenlight.

Depend on many factors. What kind of project, what will you need, what can you do, is there a team, etc.

congrats
if it was webgl i would play it

lol at you guys constantly removing lewd jam from the OP

>Constellations
>Do less of this, please. It just makes your game harder to understand and talk about
You are right. It bears sense for people who knows the game (at least I hope), but I shouldn't use those kind of game-specific words.

>How is your game doing besides deving itself?
I'm currently creating my company. There are a lot of steps to do so in my country (France).

Its a Long OP, what did you expect
They are pro-chat and anti-jam

The last long OP had the jam in it. Stop being an autistic retard.

thank you

I considered a webgl build, and I still might but it kinda degrades the visual quality a lot (disables like all my image effects) and didn't run so great. Should I take the time to try to make it work anyways? I guess I could make a lite version.

jams to nodevs is like sunlight to vampires.

Welcome in bureaucracy union.

where is your game?

If you're going to put a non-agdg jam in the OP, you might as well put every jam on it.

were you not here when it was voted on?

Nice screenshot ;)

Is more lasers always better?

Yeah, now everyone agrees it's not agdg anymore

where is the vote where we voted if it's an agdg jam or not?

We held it at the last dev meeting

Somethings are just Common Sense and don't need to be put to a vote

strawpoll.me/11143128/r

That's cool. This is in space right? The shading on the ship makes it look like it's a tank on the ground. Took me a moment to get it.

Hey devs, i'm kinda new and i just wanna get some info.
How do you control how much computer resources your game uses?

well you got me, it's not an agdg jam.

install gentoo

there, now everyone is excused from making game and can continue to shitpost in peace

Engines mostly take care of this by themselves, You'll have to look into the specifics of whatever engine you use.
It's not something you really need to worry about unless you're going to be creating thousands of resources or something.

Hah i see what you are saying.
It is far more clearer when you zoom out during normal gameplay.

>dev gets popular
>leaves agdg
>jam gets popular
>leaves agdg
i'm seeing a pattern here

>feel safe here
>refuse to leave the nest
so thats why i'm not successful
just like in real life

when do we get to vote for the next jam?

lewd jam was never labeled as an agdg jam. The creator intended from the start that it wouldn't be connected to agdg. They advertised it on other websites and never once mentioned a connection with agdg or even Veeky Forums. In fact most people think some lewd website is the one hosting it.
