Veeky Forums -- Toyota General

There's an active Honda general, but not a Toyota one. Let's fix that.

Post your Toyotas, ask questions, dick-wave, whatever.

Dickwave? Over a toyota? LMFAO. The most common peasant owned, watered down, CHEAP piece of trash that isnt worth half a shit is worth waving a dick over? If you own one just drive off cliff

>Toyota thread
finally!

Heheheh

...

Just got my valve covers done for muh 3S-GE mk1 in muh '86 GT-S.

Very nice my friend. Inspires me to finish my 4age covers

Thanks. I've gotta do the top end on it so I figured I'd pertty it up a bit while I'm at it.

First basic mods for on road travel?

Little bigger tires, leveling kit. lose the running boards and put sliders on. Paint the wheels or get some bronze F5's

stealthcustomseries.com

>Dream was to drift my moms "grandma" car
>longitudinally mounted 2ZZ

This is art, why has no one bought it yet?

What about white wheels?

Whelp, two of my rear lights have gone out on me. Where the fuck did my manual go?

its probably fucked

I can dig the bronze tho

My long term project is coming along slowly

And the
>civic
isn't? :^)

Interesing, in the UK that's marketed as a Lexus is200

them's some darn fine MR2's

Would you recommend it? I've been thinking about buying an Altezza or IS200 after I get a job.

The green gauges are pretty trash desu. Changed mine to white LED.

>anyone else got a blacktop 3sge?
The non-beams one? I have it in my Celica ST202. It's not all that fast to be honest.

Yeah the bulb's failing anwyay so I'm probably gonna do that and put some gel behind it too for colours

idk what it is about this picture but I love it

Thinking of buying one of these.
Thoughts?

Didnt specifically mean to quote you.

well shit since you quoted me, I feel like I gotta respond.

Uhhh first gen RAV4's? They were decent for what they were. iirc they had 2L 4 cylinder engine which had decent power. I think they came in manual transmission as well, idk how good the gearbox was or if the auto was any good though.
Honestly though, you're buying a 20 something year old car, so don't expect it to be perfect, check for oil leaks and stuff but all in all, it's an old toyota, back when they were pretty strong cars.
Just keep an eye to see if the previous owner took it offroading and beat the shit outta the car.

heres my yota

Why are Corollas so based? I want a new car but I just can't let this shitbox go and it never lets me down.

I kinda want one. But RAV4 is calling to me

>Corolla
>performance

Fuck yeah mang

lolno!
Civic is the better platform
Integra is best FWD car ever
Proves that Honda knows better than Toyota

Has anyone called this guy? What does the car need

Nice opinion you have there

>tfw like Toyota more than Honda
>tfw insecure because everyone does Honda builds and I feel like I'm picking a worst platform because we only have four door sedan and no double wishbone

>no double wishbone
Last Celica has in the rear.

But everyone seems to hate this car...

I honestly think people hate it based on styling alone
Stats wise it seems pretty decent

If they went more neutral and conservative like Honda that last celica would have a completely different attitude towards it

I think the hate started when there was no gt4 version. People started to compare it to its predecessor which has more power and awd. It was barely faster becuase more weight.

Thats when the hate started. Obviously it also got a lot of shit from the honda guys. After all it was the closest car to the Integra Type R (Honestly not as good).

So that means integra type r is always better? it's worthless to build a corolla?
Also the celicas before the last gen were pretty fucking heavy even in FWD base model form

My friends Silvertop AE92 that we're fixing up. Dat 8k redline...

>So that means integra type r is always better?

Stock Celica t23 vs stock ITR

so celicas are bad? I was planning on getting one after I finally kill the shit out of my accent.

The thing that annoys me most about the Gen7 Celica is the dash gauges, it looks fucking fisher-price.
>That weird clover shape
>That horrendous serif italic font
>Digital fuel and temp because ?????

t. gen6 celica owner

They aren't bad if you don't expect too much out of them. They (with the exception of the GT-4) aren't fast, but they are comfortable and reliable. What generation/year were you looking at?

The gauges for the XRS corolla are so much better

White gauges are the true comfy. What year is that XRS anyway? My 2006 S has the white gauges and I always figured the gauges and stuff were identical to the XRS since the S is pretending so hard to be the same.

I had one. Only get the 2zz and manual (auto butchers the whole point of the car). 1zz has tons of issues and no power and no lift. They are fun and cheap. They sadly look much faster than they are. Very good cornering for fwd of its age and original price. Good steering and steering feel.

Had never issues outside normal aging stuff. The interior was well build (no sounds and cracking). You have to like drive na and rpm it untill max. Very differnt from turbo car. My euro version stopped at 8250rpm. You try to shift at 8200 to get back into the "lift" (range over ~6400rpm). I think the later models had a lower limiter and thus never hit the lift when shifted up.

Beware they tend to oversteer when the limit is reached. Because its fwd its hard to get the car back on track, if you are surprised in that moment you can make a nice lift of oversteer and die.

Fun budged car. No a traffic light racer.

The oil temp one is bad. The car limited the rpm when the oil was not in the right temperature (didnt matter I never did over 3500rpm cold).

But the fucking oil temp gauge never showed when the car was at right temp to start having fun. I think the cold oil limit was at ~6000rpm/lift.

One thing I missed:

The hood start to wobble at speeds over 180kph. It looks very scarry but i dont know of any reports of something happening.

tfw only 1998 camry

I keep her in good condition, but pretty much anything else ever built would be more fun.

C-can I play?

Gotta get some new pictures soon, haven't had time to give it a proper exterior wash

>dad is fixing his '73 land cruiser
>the project has gone on for years now
>literally only needs new tires now
>still hasn't found any or bothered trying to find some
What are some good off-roading tires that I can send him to get him to finish it already?

got a 91 n/a supra with a blown head gasket (Can you believe it? on a mk3? chance in a million!) with a leak down test showing my 7mge at about 100 psi, gonna do an engine swap.

what are some good swaps for this, also the supra's a manual.

Cars are as fun as you are

>There's an active Honda general, but not a Toyota one
The TG is in the 20 different yotota spam threads in the catalog, faggot

geolandar

I've got a 2004, same shape as that but a few upgrades were made in 04. Mine is an XT4, 2.0L (petrol) manual.

I only really bought it as it came up at the right money when I needed a car, and I knew its history (1 owner from new, immaculate, etc).

I have to say it's been an awesome daily driver. As reliable as they come, never misses a beat. Motor makes around 150hp, which actually doesn't feel bad in the RAV.

I'd buy another in a flash. Mine has done 83k (miles) so far, and it runs like new.

2.0L petrol manual is meant to be the most reliable, and mine manages around 35mpg. Diesels are nice but had the odd issue, and the auto box models had a few issues as well, the sort of stuff you wouldn't want going wrong on an older vehicle as it may not be economical to repair.

1JZ, 2JZ, or 1UZ. Planning on doing a 1JZ swap on my '92 turbo when i get some extra cash. My engine and tranny is leaking oil everywhere now so my 7m isn't going to last much longer.

Thanks for the info man

Man I want it

should I buy a 2zz celica?
they seem really light weight even with all the modern comforts

The facelift that americans never got looks so much better
also the ayylmaoness of the celica can grow on you

2000s

My 5efe engine is leaking fresh oil I just changed Only from the top you guys know any causes why thank you

The O-ring on your 710 cap is missing or damaged

i'll damage your o-ring

o-okay

Could I make one up or do I have to buy it specific for the engine? Thysmfam pic of the shitbox

naw nigga, the is200 has a 1gfe in it, shit motor

The Altezza RS200z is alot better than the is200 or is300 cos its the fully specd out thing, eg; better motor better suspension...

thats cool, only driven around in my beams genV and an mr2 turbo redtop.

What was Toyota's styling department smoking when they drew this up and thought "yea that looks pretty good"?

The poor Camry looks like it's shouting in pain.

Corolla Xrs was 2005-2006 only. Owner of a '06. Had it since 2013 and am never letting go.

*I dun goofed

I also own this. I love me some 'Yotas.

You left this guy stock and automatic?

fuggg. I've been considering a is wagon. They look dope to me. Srs - how does it handle?

suh dude, altezzabro from these things handle great, wagon or sedan.
both front and rear double wishbone suspension

Nice quads.
Just get a new ring at the parts store mang

Ya, stock except for the Altezza wheels and Hotchkis sway bars. The stock Sportcross wheels where staggered and slightly wider in the rear.

Stock, ok but a little pigfat in the corners

The way I have it now with stiffer sway bars it feels much more like a pig on a diet. Honestly from a standstill it has no power, but on the highway its got enough pickup to have some fun.

Forgot to say that pic is when I had it lowered. it is currently on stock suspension.

really bro cos mine handles like a fuckin dream

Do these come stock with an LSD or is there an aftermarket for one?

I love my lil red wagon to death and its going to stay with me for the rest of my life, but it handles differently than the sedan. I've pushed both of my cars around the mountain roads and my Xrs handles much better, imo.

Dunno how the Altezzas are setup, but yours sounds like a sportier version than mine, ironically enough. Mine is more of a "Sport"cross. Its cushy enough to haul the little ones with groceries, but limber enough to keep up with the jocks during warm up sessions.

Please help

Depends. I've got the top model altezza so I have the TrD LSD.

It probably is sportier desu.

I live in nz so we got some premium picks for jap cars, mine has the all the extras and the best motor. Still want to turb it or grab a 2jzgte to slap in there though.
