I pay $170 a month on a '92 XJ with 200k miles.
I'm 20 years old and live in near Denver, when can I expect to get lower rates? Never had an accident btw, got my license when I was 18 because I didn't need it until then.

mine is 31 for s13 liability

Get older, don't have any accident claims, don't live in a shithole city.

I'm 34, in the midwest, with 4 cars.
My 1993 Dodge Caravan is $85 a YEAR for insurance
My 1996 BMW Z3 is $40 a month. My most expensive insurance payment.

I'm with Auto Owners Insurance Co based in Ohio

Paying $200 a month on a 2010 accent...with help from my mom to pay the rest. It feels like I'm drowning, someone halp

I pay $800 per year on my shitbox early 2000s coupe

I'm 20

In Canada so may be different, but our rates drop fast once you're 25 years old.

>tfw dad insisted on putting car in his name
>my liability on his policy is like $3k/year unless I keep the car home from school

Wait until you turn 25, the rates drop. 23 for women.
I pay 150 a month for a brand new sports car at 25.

I pay about 50 a month for my matrix.
Well, used to anyways.

philly proper is a shithole, and as a single male under 25 you get fucked with insurance rates (GEICO at least actually has another tier for unmarried males 25-30 before you get to the best rates)

>prohibitively expensive?
>$98/month

>expensive
>less than half of what I pay even though same age

lmao americans

Because you are 70% likely to get in a wreck and since I dont want to pay for your honda civic that got totaled, you will pay a higher premium.

>muricans moaning about car insurance prices for young adults

trying to get a 1.2 hatchback here in Britain insured at a young age costs atleast three times as much as any of those prices. you have no idea man

>land of the free
200€/year in Northern Europe for me as a 20 year old male in a big city

That's nothing.

I pay $260/month for an old Mazda 3 on Ontario.

Fuck this place.

How? What the hell...

Yo Philly fag whatup? NE here, I have Farmers and pay 78 bucks a month. But i'm 31 and dont have a single speeding ticket.

they're drunk nonstop in Ireland, which allows them to deny coverage in the event of an accident

I have full auto coverage and renters insurance for 80/month. I'm 28 so that's a factor.

>Why is car insurance so prohibitively expensive?

The biggest factors are:
0. choice of car
0. policy options
1. age under 26 (they have high claim rates)
2. past accident history (duh)
3. criminal history (speeding, racing, tickets, etc)
4. where you live
5. credit history score
6. single unmarried male (higher claim rates)

I am guessing the above order is the priority my insurance company Progressive uses.

I have a new 2016 car with more than full boat since I assumed that I selected options under the assumption that I would have a multicar accident and have to pay for all of them and medicals. So my policy is really high at $80 per month where I live. If I picked a normal full coverage (lia, med, underinsured, roadside, rentalcar, property) it would be lower. For fun, I had priced what my identical policy would be if I lived in the "bad area" of the same city and my rate jumped to $130 per month. Wow. The company really doesn't do well in that bad area I guess. Probably too many "suspicious" claims from slums.

My insurance while in 19124 was dick high. Then I moved into Allentown and it dropped by several hundreds of dollars. OP, you probably live in the ghetto, and if you don't think you do, you do.

Philadelphia is a giant ghetto.

>Why is car insurance so prohibitively expensive?

The insurance looks at YOU that's why and not just your car.

Is your credit history perfect? It shows you are responsible.

If you are a recent student, try to get a good student discount. When I got my first cat I had that. Since I also took Drivers Ed class in high school, I also got a discount for that.

If you have a criminal history then you will pay more. That's just how it is. They play the statistics game.

If your job is stable and white collar in certain professions, you get another discount.

See the thread at:
archive.4plebs.org/o/thread/15406966/#q15406966

From that thread, you see the various ways insurance companies collect data about your past history and past cars you had even with different companies.

Does waiting until 18 to get a license look bad? I took driver's ed at 15 and got my permit but didn't get license until recently

I'm 23 and pay 174$ a month fuck off

>tfw you'll essentially be paying the cost of the car through insurance
fuck insurance companies

Americunts are poor.

Try a bigger car, they don't have the same boy racer loadings. Or a specialist. A turbocharged BRZ is costing me £460 a year fully comp.

>24/m/las vegas
>pay $50/mo for bare minimum coverage on shitbox project car
>shitbox dd with bare minimum coverage basically runs me $30-$35/mo

feels good man

>interested in buying a Toyota GT86
>call insurance to ask what I'd have to pay to insure it
>nice lady on the phone tells me she can't tell me a price without asking the manager
>ask why
>"it's an exotic sports car and I don't know if we even insure them"
>you gotta be shitting me
>"ballpark number? 1800€ a year?"
>"probably higher, sir"
>"never fucking mind then"
>hang up
24 year old male in a rural area, never had an accident, never got a ticket in 7 years of having my license.

24 years of age 300 every six months full coverage for a basic bitch 2000 Silverado. Full because very low miles and pristine condition.
