whats our starting point? there aren't a lot of route options to get there so we could probably meet as far south as marysville without anyone having to double back

...

Will Mr. MR2 be there? And the Porsche guy?

>work on weekends
>free on weekdays
I can get out of a shift relatively easily though

Bump

A picture of the line up from the previous Washington meet to Mount Rainier National Park is at:

>Kik group is where most of the discussion takes place

I'm one of those that don't use KIK or its adult escort service channels, so please post a summary of things from KIK.

Anything in the Kik will be relayed here for lurkers and such. We need to know who can go this Saturday because so far doesn't seem like many can come.

fuck, a meet finally comes close enough to Canada to attend one and I am currently on fucking driving prohibition
fuck this gay earth

It's short notice. One week notice is short for most people because school is starting up and people are getting their last vacations with their family members all together. Not everyone at Meets is single you know.

I bet some people only visit Veeky Forums once every few days and only the first few pages. As moot said, the vast majority of people only visit the first few pages before they move on.

>We need to know who can go this Saturday

Without details in this thread, many people won't even bother posting in the thread. The starting point is not officially stated nor the actual ending point.

>We need to know who can go this Saturday because so far doesn't seem like many can come.

What's this Meet about? Other meets like to say what they're doing. They have a gathering spot. The Houston one even hangs around at the gathering spot for an hour before taking off.

>3 hour drive to meet with autists.
Yea, that's not a thing I'm willing to do.

That's not even official is it? It's just some random picture someone put up without any explanation as to whether or not it is part of the proposed meet. It would be like alphonse to post up some fake thing to steer people wrong so he can laugh afterwards.

>coming up from edgewood
cool

Who is going so far?

I would be

You can join the kik to find out its legit.

Looks like mount baker will have to wait. There is a route that's been found in Arlington that looks good for a meet. Will more make it if it was post poned to next weekend or still go for this weekend?

We're probably just going to go to the Oso/Arlington area

Is that the spot with the police speeding trap on the side roads?

>Will more make it if it was post poned to next weekend or still go for this weekend?

Next weekend for me. This weekend was too short a notice since already had things planned out with other people. Can't just blow them off. Especially for a Meet that has scant details posted in Veeky Forums.... hint hint

There isn't a single person coming up with everything for the meet. The "details" need to be brought up by anons.

>80 miles + the drive itself
I'm gonna bring some gas cans in case someone fucks up and runs out

what's the general idea for the drive? I've never been past downtown seattle so I don't know of anything good up there

any anons in the south go out on auburn-black diamond road?

Meet will now be held on August 27th, no route set in stone but expect around the Arlington area. Discuss details until thread death and a more official thread will come up probably towards this weekend.

I would like to see some sort of interesting end point unless there is some local event going on. I don't mind if the Meet has things other than just driving around. For example, if there is a place to visit such as a salmon farm along the drive I'd like to see that too. There are probably lots of people who have never taken an everett tour of the boeing manufacturing center or even gone into a corn maze in the arlington area. Too early for corn mazes though.

Mr2 user here

Unfortunately I don't think I can make this one because it's far too north for my tastes. Mr2 is back up and running though, it was the fuel pump that shorted out and died. Now it's reborn with velo stacks and it's good shit

I think it would be great if the meets can evolve into that. We were discussing maybe a campout for one but that will take a lot more planning. One other meet we went shooting. Had a mini meet of playing video games. This Arlington route being discussed has a lake at the end point which has some possibilities for things to do, depending on weather if it holds out.

Other suggestions for posibilites include TestN'Tune days, like Pacific Raceways has that, it's $40 a car though to run, Le May car Museum.

Do any of you drive fast cars? Is this like a meet, rally, or a run?

The arlington area has that Outback Kangaroo Farm which seems to be a petting zoo of aussie animals. However, there are no cages or fences between you and the animals. So it's a lot more personable. Just wash your hands after you touch them! With nuclear powered anti-bacterial soap.

That corn maze is run by Foster's Produce but is not available in August since corn plants.

There's something named the "Red Rooster Route" which is an association of family-owned farms on scenic drive. They welcome visitors during harvest season. You get a variety of farmer's markets as well as the ability to pick your own crops (since it is harvest season). Thus everything from blueberries to who knows what. Probably of no interest to typical Veeky Forums unless you love cooking with farm-fresh ingredients or like farmer-artisan-made food products including smoked meats, sausages, preserves, etc.

The driest months for WA are july and august.

This thread needs more meet pictures

Longer drives across northern washington roads would be good. I wouldn't mind a two day trip with a motel stay somewhere in there. I would have done it myself to explore the state, but it is far far far to boring just to do it by myself. But it was part of a Meet then I'd quite like to do that.

Some of washington's roads are seasonal due to weather or the rainy season. That restriction applies a lot to northern washington roads that are probably out of the comfort zone of many drivers whose opinions are "if you've seen one tree-lined road, you've seen them all".

red butts

>auburn black diamond road

Yeah

there are a few good roads over there but black diamond cops will assrape you for going 5 over

That road also has a lot of severe accidents on it due to speeders ramming into cars just starting to pull onto the road from side streets. If you're going 80 or more, they really cannot see you from half a mile away, so they start pulling onto the road.

It's a great road to cause accidents. Two lanes and the other lane will have oncoming cars, so you cannot use it to swerve unless you want a head-on collision with both cars going 60 MPH or faster. You cannot use the shoulder because there is almost none, embankment, guard rail, trees, cliff, deep ditch, etc.

Even though it is a shortcut to get to the North Bend factory outlet shops, I don't use that road. I had a "scare" once with someone pulling onto the road in front of me even though I was clearly at speed limit AND they could see me coming very clearly. I guess they either were distracted, careless, or misjudged my speed. It would be really sucky if they did that depending on me to slam my brakes on to let them onto the road.

Actually, some people do that because there is enough traffic that sometimes it is hard for someone to pull onto the road for as long as 3 minutes in a row. So they FORCE their way onto the road. Because some drivers use the Dark Side of The Force on that road, I am too chicken to use that road. One close call is enough for me.

That was 10 years ago. Maybe the road has changed and has traffic lights now? But I have not checked.

I just moved to the Seattle area. A car meet would be fun. The camping would be even funner. Camping can be done virtually anywhere provided you don't bring a woman with you.

In regards to meeting, why not something equidistant like Des Moines or the Ballard Locks with a bit of ocean/water scenery?

>Ballard Locks
do you enjoy not moving in traffic and having people scratch up your car?

many of us deal with cities all week so we like the meets to be out in the rural areas where we can get away from it.

>Mr2 user here

Were you the one planning to re-locate the MR2's battery? That was in the thread at:
archive.4plebs.org/o/thread/15559152/#q15559152

Where is this trail

who said anything about a trail?

Well where was it?

Lots of WA fags here, How bad is the weather really? People act like it's never sunny and always damp and cold

depends on where you are, assuming west of the cascades, we get a lot of gray and light drizzle in fall/winter but spring and summer are generally pretty nice and its not uncommon to have 50+ days at a time with no rain in summer.
east of the mountains its much drier and some areas see 300 days of sun.

right about here
also pulling off to the side is tough in the snow

Where is here

>Where is here
WA has varied weather. As the other poster said, it is not always gray and drizzly. East of the cascades, you even have deserts or forested areas with 300 sun days. And Hot. Other parts may be foggy with moist misty air as you saw in other WA meet pictures of the cars winding their way through the forest road.

In comparison, this summer's June Meet was at Mount Rainier National Park and the cars parked on top of packed ice snow. So clearly WA has a variety of weather conditions. People shouldn't summarize WA as being all rainy or gray. Weather on the peninsula can be quite different from seattle for example.

Even in the greater seattle metro area, there is a 10 mile wide corridor called the "Convergence Zone" which gets a lot more rain than the rest of the city gets. It's the way the hills and mountains funnel and compress the air along with the upper atmospheric pressure changes that force the air to let go of some of the moisture. That moisture then falls as drizzle or rain in the "Convergence Zone".

For those that insist that seattle is always raining, they should then move to live in the Convergence Zone to make their statements true. It can have rain and I don't get any rain here in a seattle suburb city a few miles south of the Convergence Zone.

Well I want to live in a wooded area with lots of dirt biking around me/trails around me. I'm moving from the east coast. I like how in some pics WA seems very lush. If i'm willing to drive like 30mins for work (work for me is any town with a decent population, i'm a nurse) where should I be looking?

If I can get my daily running again I'd be game for a meetup, I don't have kik though, maybe make a new thread once the route and date have been actually decided?

>I don't have kik though
Same here. I will wait for more info about where the Meet will be and the time.

I'm of the party that rainy/overcast weather is best
the weather here in the summer is still too hot for me

if i were you id move north of seattle an hour or two. its also nice by olympia

why the fuck is it at Mt Baker and not near where human beings live.

Be fucked you think I'm going to drive to the shittiest ski resort for 4 hours to meet some weebs

No. That wasnt me

people suck and the point of the meet is to fucking drive somewhere numbnuts

Bumping for the open road

Here's a proposed route. It's shorter and closer to Seattle metro area. Maybe if the weather permits we can go swimming at the lake.

This is a good idea

>Be fucked you think I'm going to drive to the shittiest ski resort for 4 hours to meet some weebs

The original drive was from the Village which has a set of shops and eateries along with Cabela's. As a gathering spot, that is a reasonable place and parking is available for people to group up at. The drive would then be off to Mount Baker as the destination. Not every destination can have a circular route. The most recent Meet that did have a circular route was the Mount Rainier road trip. As I heard, it became an adventure of sorts.

But apparently the new proposed driving route will be different.

Swimming gives my car the hydrolock willies. My car would sit out any swim meet. Since I can't show up if my car refuses to go, I will end up not showing up as well.

I'd rather go driving to more different destinations than spend a lot of time at one spot swimming and then having to dry off.

That's because I enjoy soaking at the hot tub at home although in the summer you would call it a "body temperature tub". I have a VESA mount on the deck's railing. Remove the decorative wood covering the metal edges, mount the monitor, and the wireless water resistant keyboard lets me remotely select whatever shows I want while lounging. That's much better than swimming in some lake where animals are pooping, sticks gouge my feet, and trash glass and metal thrown into the water cuts me (because some people bury their trash bag in the water instead of taking it with them). I've seen enough of it to give up on lakes that aren't strictly and continuously guarded.

wat

I could come but why so fucking far north

jesus christ why does it have to be in the middle of nowhere? seattle tacoma or seatac. nobody lives in arlington or on top of mount baker

You go to the middle of nowhere for lack of cops, twisties, nature and adventure. You go to Seattle for Cars&Coffee

On a related note, where are the cars and coffees in seattle.

Found the hardparking stancefag

There's lots of medical available down here in Olympia. A lot of rural areas too. Even the State is looking for nurses quite often.

>nice by olympia

You are joking right?
maybe if you were black and didn't mind being surrounded by crime

The last Washington meet was at Rainier. We go back and forth to mix it up

I would have liked going on the Mount Rainier driving trip especially if you had stopped by some of the tourist areas on the way. That way, it also feels more like a vacation than a purely driving trip on twisty roads.

Notice I said "by" and not "in". It's super nice north west of Olympia

>why does it have to be in the middle of nowhere?
Why don't you suggest a specific driving route then? Through the streets of seattle? That would not be enjoyable from a driving perspective due to all the other cars on the road. The group also loses sight of the other cars.

any of y'all go to stance wars this year?

>I could come but why so fucking far north

It's not that far north if your car has good MPG. It's well within my 2 gallon limit. Then again, I occasionally drive to Vancouver BC just to have brunch on the weekend. That's quite a bit further.

The main problem is that driving to vancouver BC is not very adventurous as it's on boring I-5.

then you should've gone to the meet.

why is this thread full of people bitching about driving to a fucking driving meet on a board about driving cars?

BECAUSE I5 FUCKING SUCKS

>why is this thread full of people bitching about driving to a fucking driving meet on a board about driving cars?

Because the REAL enthusiasts are the ricers, rare car collectors, Beamers, VW Bug owners, and corvette owners. They have regular meetings and even travel multiple states away for their Meets. I know since I accidentally happened onto a VW Meet and two ricer meets here in WA. As for the VW Meet, there were over 60 of them and some had cute little trailers made to be towed by a Bug. I remember plates from MN, CA, AZ, WA, OR, ID, so Bugs do get around.

then don't take i5 retard

I don't understand what you're trying to say, that an Veeky Forums meetup is by default shitty?

because the sound area is weird and is basically one big city that's 100 or so miles long
having to drive 50 or more miles just to meet up with some retards from Veeky Forums is not ideal

Then why are you here?

>then you should've gone to the meet.
Not the other posters, but I was going to go until I saw the posts in the previous WA Rainier meet threads. Some posters wanted to be able to stop at places along the drive, but you drive-hard fanatics attacked and mocked with a resounding NO WAY. You only wanted to drive without stops at the various interesting spots.

I bet that is also what happened. Those who went on the drive can probably say if they wanted to stop at various spots or not. But couldn't since the drive-hards would not stop. If those people are abandoned, then that isn't really a Meet. That is how I saw those angry posts against stopping.

So, with that, I didn't feel the Meet was going to be much of a fun vacation break experience for me. Just a bunch of fast speeding from one point to another while missing the sights and feelings of the new environment because one is too busy with single-minded (almost autistic) attention on the road trying not to wreck.

Then plan one to your liking and post it when it's time for a new meet.
