The Escalade is successful because it does everything a Fleetwood used to do and then some, and that's mostly due to riding on a truck platform.
Cadillacs weight less than their competitors though, with the possible exception of the Escalade.

The entire body is different and the wheelbase is 14" longer. '54 Cad sedans aren't worth megabucks, so it makes zero sense to "kit" a Chevy into one. Even if that thing has a lengthened Chevy frame under it (it doesn't) that is a Cadillac body 100%. So it's still a Cadillac.

Chevy is like the brand of everyone. You will find a good variety of stuff. Cadillac is like that brand that was at the top once due to their elegant design but doesn't held up anymore. Also, it's now used more by black people due to that reason. The same can be said about Chrysler now days.
